Charlie Finley was the Seals owner when the Seals changed to the Oakland A's colors, which made sense since Finley also owned the Oakland A's. He also changed the A's colors to green & gold after they wore blue & white for about 65 years. He also briefly owned a basketball team in the ABA that wore green & gold. He was an Irish guy and didn't want to leave anyone in doubt about that with all the green. Unlike his baseball team, though, the Seals never won three straight championships, but the GM he fired did. I mean Bill Torrey, who won four in a row with the Islanders.
I would be happy if the Dallas stars' reverse retro jerseys became their home and away jerseys respectively. For the white jersey make the text and logo bronze and they would be awesome.
The North Stars home white from 1978 - 79, 1979 - 80 is only available through Minnesota Vintage Hockey. A custom bulk order form the founder all tags removed but very similar to Athletic Knit but heavier. Dallas second year made the green two shades darker too a forest green rather than a kelly green.
I absolutely love that second reverse retro. When I play CHEL I don’t wear anything else at home (except the skylines every once in a while, they’re kinda cool imho)
I don't think they'll change the uniforms again, they're fine how it is but I wouldn't mind seeing either versions of the reverse retro jerseys as their third. The silver, black, and victory green goes well together.
I was a big fan of the Oakland seals when they came into the league and their understated sweaters. My least favourite hockey Jersey of all time was that Dallas Star Bull head. The thing was so busy and I remember the first time I saw it , in a rink, I couldn't figure out what it was from 40' away. From a distance it sort of looked like a cutaway view of a uterus with downward pointing fallopian tubes and a red glowing STD. What is this team called? I went looking for information to find out what the image was supposed to be and the Dallas communications department came out with this long involved explanation. Strength of a bull- blah-blah-blah- Lone star state - blah blah blah Strength and endurance blah blah blah, but it still looked like a jersey for the Intermediate D Dallas-Fort Worth Gynecologists' mens league team. I'm guessing they needed the big write up cause no one knew what it was supposed to be and everyone hated it so there was some justification for the design going on. I've never heard it called the mooterus but yes exactly what I thought. Terrible Jersey. and green doesn't work for a bull. Worst Jersey ever. Worse than the Buffalo Slug. The original Minnesota North Star Jersey was my favourite NHL jersey of all time.
Those Iowa Stars jerseys are also Reebok 6100 cuts, so yeah those are massive in the body in addition to being size 54. I had a 46 of the white jersey, but it was too boxy for me at the time
I’d love to see a video talking about your kit jerseys. I am still not well-versed enough with the old CCMs to spot them on eBay, so it would help a lot!
At one time all there was was kit jerseys. Like when I was a kid, back in the 70s. You absolutely could not buy an NHL jersey. But you could buy a blank, then buy the logo patches and put it together. That was the only way to have an NHL jersey.
@@RRaquello I mean, that actually sounds like a fun project to embark on! I just don’t wanna get duped buying a jersey online for the price of the real deal if it’s not it.
@@LSA30 Back in the 70s there was a sporting goods company called Casey's in St. Louis that specialized in hockey. They put out a fancy full colored catalog every year called the "Hockey Bible" and I'd always send for it, even though there was nothing in it I could afford. To me it was like getting the Sears Christmas catalogue. You looked at all the stuff and looked at what you wanted to get but never would. They used to have the stuff to make kit jerseys: blank jerseys, patches, numbers, etc. But they had everything--skates, sticks, goalie pads, gloves. I remember that the "ultimate" was the CCM SuperTacks skates, which went for about $300--in 1975 dollars. That was a fortune. I wonder if Casey's is still around.
A video I saw elsewhere said when the NHL changed jersey manufacturers the big STAR on the jersey, from the Cup winning team, wouldn't fit in the machine used by the manufacturer, so they had to come up with a new design.
Once all of the videos on individual team collections are done it would be really cool to see your collection of kit jerseys! even if they aren't official it would still be nice to see what the differences between the jerseys are :)
How those mid-2000’s word mark jerseys aren’t considered some of the worst of all-time is beyond me. How do you go from something so good to something *so* bad?
I liked the Oakland Carrots, nice sweater. I also like the current Stars kit, even the rave is ok. If the Mooterus had horns that went up, that would have been good.
Not an jersey enthusiast at all but this struck me yesterday (one of this I had never seen before). Nowdays we have all this retro/throwback cashing going on. But Dallas Stars has bit of difficult situation. I agree that all the team versions of Seals can be attached to both to Sharks and Stars. Yes Seals/Barons were kind of removed from North Stars to become Sharks. But there is no denying that it is part of Dallas Stars franchise history too. But Sharks are getting all the retro stuff from Seals. North Stars is most definitely part of Stars franchise history. They even just remodelled the name and kept the retired numbers of the old team retired. Which I believe is very respectful thing to do. We have Avalanche and Hurricans who buried all this. But yet Stars can´t really use North Stars in their retro stuff because it sort of belongs to Minnesota now. So now we have all these Stars monstrosities because they can´t really use their franchise history.
Proof of the pre-move redesign: In the Mighty Ducks, you can see Basil McRae and Mike Modano after practice in Minnesota in that design. th-cam.com/video/JaapjSmaDp0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ekbpNQtYjfpkCETt
Huh? The only thing the Stars and the Seahawks have in common is the color green. Even then it's different shades. Unless it's the Blackhawks, where they only share similar striping on the arms.
The Stars Reverse Retro jerseys the Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey is fire 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 but their Reverse Retro 1.0 jersey is too much white its an Icy White jersey
Holding the green Seals jersey next to the current Stars home jersey and he says "...the Stars wouldn't do a throw back to this..." as if those two jerseys aren't almost identical.
Dug up my old power point on ugliest hockey jerseys. The mooterus was only third worst. Columbus Blue Jackets reverse retro got an honourable mention because they produced a red jersey for a team with Blue right there in their name. I know it's following the rules , it just seems like a stupid choice. Are the Red Sox going to wear blue socks? The second worst jersey was the Montreal Canadiens barber pole sleeper uniform from the 100 year anniversary. Number one was the Canucks yellow, orange and black flying V. Looked like they put it together with hockey tape after their last loss to try combat a jinx. This one cost them a lot more than the $500 they paid for that original design of a hockey stick in a rectangle. That didn't make it better.

My youth hockey team based their jerseys off whatever Dallas was wearing at the time (Weird, I grew up in CT) and I HATED the jerseys from around 2010. So boring.
Shannon: I was thinking about buying it, but questioned how often I’d wear it.
Also Shannon: has 1,000 jerseys 😆
I am in the minority of people who really like the current Dallas 3rd. I think the neon green really pops in a cool way.
That American Texas Stars sweater is C L E A N

What I have learned from THG is that Iowa jerseys are absolute fire. The heartlanders ones especially blow my mind
Yeah I think that the star logo with the expanded star down to the waist is the best. It's what I use when playing nhl on Xbox all the time
I would be happy if the Dallas stars' reverse retro jerseys became their home and away jerseys respectively. For the white jersey make the text and logo bronze and they would be awesome.
Dallas really needs to go back to Green Gold Black and White…
You need a video just on your Iowa collection 😂
Also love the Brodie shirt, RIP.
I prefer the Stars Cup winner jersey. I actually have the original Stars black jersey with the fighting stripe. I may be the only one in NYC with it!
Every time I see the STDRS jersey, I can't help but recall the hilarious and endless Perry walk of shame. Feels bad for Josi tho
It’s almost like this video was made for me. I’m from Dallas, grew up a Stars fan, and currently go to college in Iowa!
I'm a season ticket holder for the Texas Stars. Go Stars!!

The iced-out reverse retro is beautiful. Especially with a name/number on it. 😍😍😍
I know folks didn't like the 2021 reverse retro, and I definitely prefer the 2023 one, but I think its nicer than people give it credit for.

Love the Stars jerseys what they wore in the late 90's to the early 2000's nice jerseys
Same very cool design
It’s a crime they got rid of the star jersey
Hope they keep the Blackouts forever

Extremely unpopular opinion: I like the Seals original logo
I do too. Very mid-60's moderne. Like something you might see on a fast food restaurant from around 1966.
My coleco table top hockey game from Christmas 1971 had the original Oakland Seals uniform.

The black and Lumo Lime 3rd is a thing of beauty. I own one and love it (I'm a Wings fan) Looks great on the ice too.
Found me a Nashville South Stars jersey the other day super cheap. Hype for it to show up at the door.
Amazing collection, and an amazing Brodie Lee shirt to boot.
💜🖐
I've seen photos of the bull jersey with the horns pointed up instead of sideways and it looks way better
For what it's worth . I think the current home and away (not the third) are the most underrated set in the league
The Mooterus is gloriously awful. It isn't often that a jersey is so bad that it wraps around to being great.
Thank you for counting the series despite poor view counts
Cleveland Barons getting snubbed here😂
In all seriousness I wish they manufactured them, though.
The Carolina jerseys of a couple of years back were almost a retro jersey of the Cleveland Barons. You had to look close to see the difference.
Woo MOOTERUS! It's so so bad but so good.
Royal retros is good place I have seen to get some obscure jerseys
You should just buy some shoulder pads to wear with your larger jerseys! Would be a great look 😂
“And you wrote Texas with a dollar sign” 😂😂 great reference
Looking forward to the 🔥 video love ur channel
As far as ugly hockey jerseys go, the “Mooterus” has no equal.
The Anaheim Wild Wing, Vancouver "V" and Islanders Fisherman are up there
Its been long enough that the Mooterus has looped around to being cool again. I have one stuck to my laptop.
I know its an unpopular opinion but the Rave and the Mooterus are my favorite Dallas jerseys
I would love to see an NHL broadcast of CAL/DAL between blasty and the mooterus.
The STD-ers gave me a good chuckle.
I like the Seals jerseys, and all of the North Stars ones are superb.
The Dallas Starhawks look needs to change.
Huh? The only thing the Stars and the Seahawks have in common is the color green. Even then it's different shades. Unless it's the Blackhawks, where they only share similar striping on the arms.
Yes, sir. I meant that Dallas copied Chicago's look when the Hawks were winning cups.@@primecrusader-q7k

I know I'm in the minority here but the star shoulders/sleeves jersey is terribly corny. Looks like a costume for a Disney show on ice to me.
