In This video we start the tear down of the 5.3 replacement motor or engine we got for the Chevy Suburban I bought. I found out what is wrong with the old motor and it is blown up. More to come on that in a different video. In this video I show you how to tear down a LS engine. This is a 4th gen ls 5.3 but it is very similar to all other ls engines. 4.8 5.3 6.0 and 6.2. The reason I am taking the new motor apart is to start on the dod and afm delete. Generally people do this in the car but it is way easier to do out of the car with the engine on the stand. We get all of the main parts off of the engine and down to a short block. We will be replacing several parts as we go but I will need to clean up the block which will be in the next video. If you don't want to put a dirty ls engine in your vehicle it will be a good watch as I break down all the things I do and change. Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

I apologize if I missed it, but what cam are you using as the replacement? Hopefully, one that retains the low-end torque for that big 'Burb.

So is pulling the engine required for the delete? Have to pull the rockers to pull the heads? Doing the DOD delete myself now. But engine is still in the truck. At the point of pulling heads and timing cover
Can be done in the car. Yes rockers need to be removed
@TWAMotorsports From watching your videos it seems best bet to pull it to deal with heads etc. Already have had dirt blow in. Can't afford to mess up. Plus all the work needed to drop the pan. Going to head that route. Appreciate your response. Your videos have been extremely helpful
