The 1 and 2jzgte uses the same puck style shim, as well as the Rb26dett. Easy to find. Also the USDM 2zz shares a ton of the same parts as the 3sge Beams. They both have the Yahama head.
Great vid! Wish I'd seen it before spending a week on my RT BEAMS valvetrain. Do you have a favorite tool to compress the springs and get the valves out?
Awesome video, love the channel! I have a question. Upon rebuilding my BEAMS, I noticed that the exhaust valves, and valve guides were garbage. I bought new OEM valves and valve guides, and had a machine shop install the valve guides. But now the clearance is WAY too tight on all of the exhaust valves. My lowest feeler is .04MM and 3 of my valves are tighter than that. What would you recommend for a starting/ending shim thickness in this case like this? Here are my measurements: EX1;
You're going to have to measure your existing shims to see how much thinner you need to go to get the correct valve clearance. Valve adjustments are always tedious and usually a major headache
Having to install and remove the cams FOUR times in order to get the correct shim sizes seems excessive. After installation the first time and finding the actual clearances with the feeler gauges, calculating the required shim thickness for each valve should be easy. Finding the correct shims may be more of a challenge! If my memory is correct after doing this about FORTY years ago, on most of the Japanese cars, the valve adjustment procedure for 4 cylinder engines was: At TDC adjust intake and exhaust valves on cylinder 1, intake valves on cylinder 2, exhaust valves on cylinder 3. Then rotate the engine 180 degrees and adjust the remaining valves. I don't know if this is still relevant today.
Good evening, I would like you to help me. I disassembled the exhaust VVTi from the 3SGE Beams engine to change the seals and by accident the spring and the gears came off. Now we can't assemble them anymore. I would like a video so I can assemble them.
Great video with alot of information! Can you tell me what the valve specs are for the automatic version? I'm sending my cylinder head to a machine shop but i just wanna check them after it's done
EX 0.32 - 0.42mm AT IN 0.17 - 0.27mm (same as MT) I'd have the machine shop do the valve adjustment. Then recheck after the head is bolted back onto the block.
Hey my question for you is it possible to use intake valves intended for Gen3 3sge engines on a Gen 5 3sge engine? I have a sxe10 altezza and my timing belt snapped so I'm considering getting valves incase they're bent
You rock. It's like the condensed knowledge for 00's forums without the flaming and shit posting.
Thanks for the support! We do our best to give back!
awesome reference to my beams build, just bought a guide from that guy. Your content rocks💣
Thanks for the kind words!

Best Vids online. Great CS too

First here! Always good info videos for the AE86 fanatic!

Much appreciated! Thanks for the support!

Thank you for the kind words. For valve springs there is a Blue Point tool that you hit with a hammer. Also works for 4AGE 16v
L'Isle 36050. 💯
Are the 305 for the admission wedges as well as the exhaust?
Since the cams needs to be moved to measure the valve lash, should the crankshaft stay on 10 deg BTDC?

@@CMAutohaus Got it, thanks for the reply homie!

@@CMAutohaus thank you so much 🤙
@@tobyrempel8952 You got it!
Can we use a iron valve in it?
I have that book!

oh lord my d16 is a quick easy job to adjust valves, beams is crazy
Yes, anything with shims or bucket shims is always a headache to do valve adjustment.
I need a monster BEAMs built if you want a shot at it.
He doesn't really like engine builds cause it's a cam of worms; though I think that's for engines that are already in the car....worth a shot asking?
Haha Mr. Peter has asked before. We built the C-Clip modified J160 for him.
Haha I need to find a decent machine shop first. Getting this BEAMS head done was like arduously pulling teeth!
@@CMAutohaus I'm willing to pay a premium for your services if you ever get the itch to build one with as much stuff as we need from BGRS.
@@CMAutohaus Sucks because I just bought SurFab's headers, ITBs, and headers and now I JUST saw them on BGRS.
COULD YOU PLEASE PLEAS SENT ME A TOOLS SIZE FOR VALVE ADJUSTMENT
Can you please please leave a legible comment. No comprendo amigo.
Is this engine in the is200?
Yes Lexus IS200 or Toyota Altezza depending on what market.
No. RS200
