Well swordsoul has protos and halqdon banned so them being viable and even a top 3 deck during pre pote is impressive, even if that format was pretty weak overall
You have to keep in mind though that Splight wasn't shining for too long, after they got massive hits such as ronintoadin getting banned. Dkayed already mentioned that Master Duel will be the first format, where we'll have full power Tearlaments vs full power Splight and Splight will even have Maxx C on top of that. Still it's probably not a stretch to say that Tears will still be the dominant deck in Master Duel with the Ishizu cards
I really love the explanations for each category, because I don't always keep up with competitive YGO and only know some of these decks, so a quick explanation is very much appreciated

I agree with the idea that it's not the worst in yugioh though. So many archetypes that are either power crept, convoluted, bad or entirely outdated? Yeah. No way Bird-Up is the worst.
The powercreep this year has been like nothing I've seen in Yu-Gi-Oh since the Dragon Ruler domination, I don't even see anyone in the TCG complaining about the Adventure Token engine anymore because of just how much crazier it's gotten.
Such a fun deck with some really cool lines, it’s a very potent deck that is basically impossible to side against or make a strategy for but sadly ishizu tear kinda wipes the strategy

@@thotslayer9914 Depends, it's just an official simulator and I sometimes play paid/free online tournaments that use MD as flatforms. Some tournaments do have that Bo3 and both players are given 3-5 mins to do the siding and get back into the lobby. Still better than that shitty remote duel.

If my hand is good (2/3 extender), and my opponent doesn't handtrap me, I go for the "friendship combo" with "m.@.i" bois (5/6, only missing Earth Golem)
This brings me memories of me playing my "cyberse Brave token deck" using the power of 3 circle of salad and the Code talker engine, man I loved that a lot
I remember when I built Floo on a whim just because I thought the cards were cute and figured with how cheap the deck was that it probably wasn’t very good only to find out it’s a very hated floodgate deck lol
@@EinTheEin True but most of them can only put down 3-4 interrupts at best and is gated behind interruptible combos. Floo on the other hand just search and normal summon Wind Barrier Statue and use DShifter to lock down your opponent entirely. It doesn't make Floo any better than those combo decks.
I mean, i wanted to run Tears because I liked the art of the cards (because god dang are the cards beautiful) and like fusion summoning in general, only to find out they were one of the most broken archetypes if not the most broken archetype in Yugioh's history (although I should mention I didn't run Ishuzu).
I'm genuinely surprised by how much history is repeating itself in Master Duel. So many things that happened in TCG, either already happened or are in the process. There are slightly different things though with the current banlist. Halq/Arouradon pile was recently hit about a couple months ago with Halq getting banned, which has been replaced by a rarely seen Armed Dragon/Galaxy Tomahawk turbo deck. Meow-Meow Mu is actually limited alongside Water Enchantress, rendering Prank Kids from a tier 1 deck down to rogue status. Simorgh of Sovereignty is unlimited, but the most recent banlist hit Barrier Statue due to how prevalent Floowanderweeze was. Swordsoul Tenyi currently has Archnemes Protos, but Long-Yuang is semi-limited, hitting the deck's consistency a little. As for Branded Despia, it's currently the best deck in the format, so it's more than likely going to get hit on the next banlist. I'm not sure what will be released next, since Master Duel just got Labrynthe and Runick, so it's difficult to predict what happens next.
I just miss the times when Dragonmaid was a strong deck in master duel. It's still not half bad, but it's strong grindgame is not enough to carry it anymore.
Great video and I hope we get more recaps in the future, although it'd be cool if you showcased winning decklists when they are mentioned, even for half a second.
I am never going to understand why consistent decks that benefit from banishing are shat on, but decks that bore the opponent by spending 10 minutes abusing the GY are praised. Even if the banishing decks in question are just as powerful.
Because it's actually easier to play against combo decks than decks that are consistent Most combo decks cannot put many interruptions and even if they can, you need to make the deck about a one specific board and make the whole deck purpose about making that board and after you make it you mostly lose all the resources and ability to return to the game if it get destroyed And in yugioh it's easy to destroy like this boards and side decking it thanks to DRNM, forbidden droplet and that many destruction cards + most combo decks sucks in general and not because my speedroid and D/D deck could combo forever does it mean it's Undefeatable ( D/D and speedroid are decent or rogue most of time )

Tears and meta combo decks in the last few formats can put up non-monster negates, can play through DRNM/Droplet to some extent, have tons of follow up (at least Tear does) and don't brick as much as floodgate/control decks. Best decks this game ever had, have usually been combo decks (Spyral, Zoo, DR, PePe etc.)
@@arobnugzo6818 out of those decks only zoo is a top 5 deck ever, decks like striker, orcust, tear and maybe even more modern ones like swordsoul are better, and historically midrange decks are better than combo anyway Tear is also a midrange deck, they're just more explosive than like salad, the fusion sub "combo" didn't turn zoo into a combo deck, it was just a line of play they had, same for the "orcust combo"

I would have put the PUNK decks that were very successful during Nats period (maybe even Drytron) over Exosister, and Prank Kids deserves to be higher I believe even if the deck got banned pretty quickly, but other than that nice list

This list would be perfect to me but I would change swordsoul and branded due to the fact that swordsoul had a stronger and longer presents than branded

I think an in depth videos of these top tier decks to include how the combos work, what each card does, and how they make it to being a topping deck. I have been out of the game for so long sometimes I read the long text and cannot make sense how it synergize.
Mystic Mine wasn't even a problem at the time of its ban, or even before then but playing backrow hate was too much for most players who probably don't even play the game, and only secured the dominance of Tearshizu when it did get banned.
It was a problem at many points of the game, got tops and all with the worst gameplay anyone has ever had to witness. Some dude nearly flipped a table in a YCS I believe. It is gone from all formats of this game (MD, TCG, OCG) thankfully. Turns the game into the luck sack of "draw the unsearchable out". Pro players kind of like Tear format, proven by YCS coverages anyway. The mirror is mostly skill based apparently (tho I am small brain so Floo is the way).

Branded was pushed so hard by konami to be the best. Best fusion spell, recycle of spells, can use super poly, can use gy and banished pile, spells can be searched. Etc. like you can tell when they forcing an archetype down our throats.
We’ll expect more representation of branded especially since they have more support confirmed for the next 2 main sets and the indirect light and dark duality cards how fun
Union carrier was already banned when the deck was meta, and previous versions used Barrier Statue more than Apex. Never seen the Thunderbird loop actually played in tournaments in the TCG
You should do a series of top decks no one plays. Like I feel like dark law spam decks and even dragoon Dmagician decks can be solid and fun but due to hand traps being so good they don’t ever see play.

Thanks to Master Duel I have faced Runik Pure... They I think come closest to countering GY strat because they mill-ban the opponents deck and in one turn I lost around 15 cards from my deck because I had no counter. But now I know why Tearlaments and Sprights were talked up so much. Hate Sword Soul tho. Because the decks never change.
Duel Logs, may I suggest that you continue the "explaining the banned cards" with the cards that got errata'd? The "can be unbanned" would be replaced by "could the errata be undone".
Sorry since the start only theme deck I used was Dark World. Then when Dangercame out I went Danger Dark World. I've never used any other deck and I don't know why. I tried other but now ever sticked

@@georgbergsten6050 well, I had to back and rewatch the video because it's been like 2 months lol. But honestly I would kick exosister down to 10 knocking birds off completely. They did nothing for almost all of 2022. Drytron could've been at least that 9th spot. The deck only went through what I would call a 3 month rough patch in the beginning of the year, got knocked back down at the end of the year with the release of dabl and mama, but from may to October the deck was insane. I was crushing spright and tear in pote format.
Hey Mr Duel Logs from the channel The DuelLogs. Would really like to see a video of you talking about the fall of Branded and give us some details about how it got power crept. Branded is causing a lot of trouble in Master Duel right now, it's insane how one Branded in Red can make you go +5, and we had that same experience here in the TCG before Tearlaments came out and made Branded look like a rogue deck. Except it wasn't just because of Tearlaments that Branded got so weak during the past few formats. So yeah, that would be a cool video to watch, to learn in details how a tier 1 deck got reduced to rogue without getting a single hit on the banlist.

For reference, the Q makes a sound kinda similar to a 'ch' sound in english and the X makes a sound similar to 'sh.' So while not exactly correct, pronouncing it like 'chi shing' is gonna be alot closer
As someone somewhat new to the game coming over from MTG and Pokémon, I have to wonder. Why did Konami Keep giving more support to decks that were already dominating?
While this year was really good for Yugioh competitively, constantly progressing and each set was better than the last, It was really rough if you were a budget player. Bird up was a great budget alternative but immediately died in February and every deck for a while were adventure dpe decks and were way too expensive for awhile. Then despia came out and wouldn’t be budget friendly until ghost from the past 2 and even then Opening and Chimera were very pricy. Then POTE and Spright and tear were completely out pricing budget players. Now everything is pretty cheap, right when we are in a tier 0 format and really only 1 deck is good, which too be fair isn’t crazy anymore in terms of price but still planet it’s still up there.
This could be the start of a new series! I’d love to see the top ten best decks of other years!

Branded was pushed so hard by konami to be the best. Best fusion spell, recycle of spells, can use super poly, can use gy and banished pile, spells can be searched. Etc. like you can tell when they forcing an archetype down our throats.
We’ll expect more representation of branded especially since they have more support confirmed for the next 2 main sets and the indirect light and dark duality cards how fun

I thought "Bird Up" name was come from bouncing up Mist Valley Thunderbird with Apex, with Lyrilusc+Tribrigade as the engine for Simorgh+Union Carrier
Union carrier was already banned when the deck was meta, and previous versions used Barrier Statue more than Apex. Never seen the Thunderbird loop actually played in tournaments in the TCG

I always find it funny when a card comes off the banlist only to get rebanned in the next one. Like Konami is saying "whoops!"
You should do a top 10 Rogue deck of the year or maybe all time
I would agrue HEAVILY that mathmech should be on here, as it was the 3rd best 100% during the spright tear meta
You should do a series of top decks no one plays. Like I feel like dark law spam decks and even dragoon Dmagician decks can be solid and fun but due to hand traps being so good they don’t ever see play.

Ideas: Top 10 target for Ultimate Slayer
Thanks to Master Duel I have faced Runik Pure... They I think come closest to countering GY strat because they mill-ban the opponents deck and in one turn I lost around 15 cards from my deck because I had no counter.
But now I know why Tearlaments and Sprights were talked up so much.
Hate Sword Soul tho. Because the decks never change.
Duel Logs, may I suggest that you continue the "explaining the banned cards" with the cards that got errata'd? The "can be unbanned" would be replaced by "could the errata be undone".

On Master Duel someone tried the new Branded Despia Lockdown on me, I was playing basic burn (no Mystic Mine) so monsters didnt matter on my end.

Sorry since the start only theme deck I used was Dark World. Then when Dangercame out I went Danger Dark World. I've never used any other deck and I don't know why. I tried other but now ever sticked

@@georgbergsten6050 well, I had to back and rewatch the video because it's been like 2 months lol. But honestly I would kick exosister down to 10 knocking birds off completely. They did nothing for almost all of 2022. Drytron could've been at least that 9th spot. The deck only went through what I would call a 3 month rough patch in the beginning of the year, got knocked back down at the end of the year with the release of dabl and mama, but from may to October the deck was insane. I was crushing spright and tear in pote format.

Would really like to see a video of you talking about the fall of Branded and give us some details about how it got power crept.
Branded is causing a lot of trouble in Master Duel right now, it's insane how one Branded in Red can make you go +5, and we had that same experience here in the TCG before Tearlaments came out and made Branded look like a rogue deck.
Except it wasn't just because of Tearlaments that Branded got so weak during the past few formats. So yeah, that would be a cool video to watch, to learn in details how a tier 1 deck got reduced to rogue without getting a single hit on the banlist.

great video as usual, but i do have to say that your pronunciation of Qixing just about killed me dead lol. For reference, the Q makes a sound kinda similar to a 'ch' sound in english and the X makes a sound similar to 'sh.' So while not exactly correct, pronouncing it like 'chi shing' is gonna be alot closer

While this year was really good for Yugioh competitively, constantly progressing and each set was better than the last, It was really rough if you were a budget player. Bird up was a great budget alternative but immediately died in February and every deck for a while were adventure dpe decks and were way too expensive for awhile. Then despia came out and wouldn’t be budget friendly until ghost from the past 2 and even then Opening and Chimera were very pricy. Then POTE and Spright and tear were completely out pricing budget players. Now everything is pretty cheap, right when we are in a tier 0 format and really only 1 deck is good, which too be fair isn’t crazy anymore in terms of price but still planet it’s still up there.

To be honest, floowandereeze it's extremely cheap, aside from pot of prosperity you can make the deck for 60 dollar makes.
