- I am single again, my kids are grown, and I moved into a truck camper. My travel nurse job was just canceled, with seven weeks left, and I do not intend to return to nursing. I left an unhappy marriage after 17 years, sold my house, and left all of my material possessions. It sounds pathetic and sad, but I have never felt more alive!

Covid was a tough season to be living in my SUV due to the closed gyms but I made it through and am stronger because of it. It's amazing how resourceful you become when life changes the rules; All because you chose to Get out of Bed and Live Life!
Sometimes divorce is the best thing for you! People are our sacred mirrors and we were with them for a reason at the time. Confronting that is hard but it leads to so much personal growth! You are thriving and you made that happen! Give yourself some love! Being uncomfortable at times allows you to see life through grateful eyes! Divorce and separation aren't easy even though they were the right things to do. It's the hardest thing to be so happy but still so hurt at the same time. It's just like that Amazing quote from Dolly Parton, in Steel Magnolias, "Laughter through tears is my Favorite emotion."

In this time, I've become a Minimalist and so very Grateful for every little thing, and I'm so incredibly Happy!

Yup. Started full timing in a truck camper in 2016. Retired in 2017 and started traveling. Since gotten a small travel trailer. Just me and my 2 doggos. No regrets. Started work camping last year. My family thinks I'm nuts. Don't care what they think.
I love that!! My brothers disapprove of me being on TH-cam. You have to live for you and not take anything personally. Nothing is ever personal. It is always about the other person's thinking. Enjoy the road my friend!

I did the same in a 1994 dodge dakota with 2 senior pups. No camper. Just the truck. It was SO hard in the beginning, too much crying and shame, but so many good things learned now. Thank you for sharing your life in this way. It helps in untold ways.

I too have a male dog that always pees on his sister lol. I am 58 , quit my job to look after my mom who passed with pancreatic cancer in 2020. I now look after my 86 year old father. For 6+ years I have had this idea of living in a van, on the road with me and my 3 little dogs. Congratulations on making the best of the situation and keeping a positive outlook! Wanted to lend support for a fellow “nomad” adjusting to the paradox of “how can I feel so happy, free, and content with this simple but fulfilling lifestyle” vs “am I really unemployed, living in my car, and aimlessly wandering alone around this planet?”. I almost do the same, but I work-from-distance half-time to earn enough to break even and maintain my nest egg. Hold onto the positive interpretation of what you are doing, it is gold! You are normal, sane, and probably saved your own life. I subscribed, and look forward to following your videos as you figure things out! I just am wrapping up 4 months on the SE coast and can give you a lot of hiking/outdoor tips suited for a traveler staying in parks and CG’s (and I’m continuing at the VA coast and beyond)

Great to see a new face and around my age. I have a teardrop camper and love traveling but my severe tinnitus keeps me from traveling more than 2 or 3 hours in one day and then I pay for that with louder ringing ears. I would have to haul around 3 small dogs if I was out on the road. We still camp around Portland Oregon and this hot weather is making me want to escape to the mountains or the beach. Hope to see more of you.
Tinnitus is challenging, but it seems you are still enjoying your life and making it work! The Oregon mountains are beautiful, and the coast is breathtaking! Enjoy!
I too have tinnitus and was wondering if it was getting worse after riding in a car! Weird. Thanks for the comment and hope you find some relief. I did find an OTC pill that helped but I got it on sale and it's too expensive.
I too have severe tinnitus, along with copd and other issues...but I still enjoy life to the extent possible. Today is my 73rd birthday actually. I'm planning a workout in about an hour. Sumus quod sumus.

Thank you my new friend! I've actually kept the worst of the copd at bay with a dietary regimen that averages 80% good stuff. Twenty percent for chips, salsa and pershaps oreos! I hit our gyms...we have two on this desert compound in New Mexico...four times a week on average. I'm still able to squat over 500 pounds. It's diligence and persistence that garners the rewards. I was terrifying in the beginning. My first night was in a DIY van at a Cracker Barrel in South Florida. A cop parked next to me and I thought he was going to tell me to move. Turns out he was there for eggs and bacon and didn't care about me. You can do it if you want! We are all stronger than we think. Believe it!

If you decide to visit Arizona, be aware that travelling down or up I-17 from Flagstaff to Phoenix in a truck with camper will be a close to God experience. I've done it in a 2016 Dodge 2500 with a Lance we picked up in Flagstaff, never again!

I’m 57 and live part time in a DIY camper van with my husband. I’ve worn glasses since I was 10. I now buy sunglasses made to wear over your regular glasses. They’re great! And they often have rhinestones on them for a little bling lol! Enjoy your travels!

Your parents look healthy. Hope you have many years with them. I lost my dad back in 1995 to suicide. I was 28. My mom is alive and kicking ( remember the album in the 80’s), she will be 78. Great video, waiting for your next crazy vid!

Great outlook. I recently got out of nursing after 30 years and feel so much better!! How do you like your truck camper? Hubby and I are fulltime currently in a tiny travel trailer (Airstream Basecamp 20x) but plan to get something different in a year or so. I love the idea of a truck camper.
I retired from nursing two years ago. Life is so much better.
Nursing can be challenging. I'm happy for you that you recently got out of it. I love my truck camper. I like that I can remove it from the truck but I can still fit in a regular parking spot. The Airstream Basecamps are very nice. Thanks for watching.

Yet another nomad! Excellent! I live vicariously through such sojourns. My wife is also an RN and we've lived in three states. I was in law enforcement and commercial driving. Also worked in archeology as I've a degree in anthropology. Luv your pups! What breed are they my new friend? Anticipating lots of adventures forthcoming. Cool rig!
Our "kids" are all grown and successful. Our youngest son contributed to the Artemis spacecraft recently in the headlines with his former company Sierra Space. Very proud of all three.

Hi there! Just found your channel. I'll be 60 this year and have been living in my SUV for just over a year now. Unfortunately life threw me a couple of curve balls and I'm grounded in SC for the time being. My entire brake system went out and with thousands in repairs, I decided to get a part-time job in my hometown and save for a van. The owner where I work has graciously allowed me to park the SUV in his parking lot and I'm living out of it. Your spirit really is infectious 😅. I subbed to your channel. Have a wonderful week!
