- More than just a POV video! We look inside at the Bike park wales new black trail called boomslang!
We ride this new trail and stop at any worthwhile features so you can decide if it's one for your own hit list or not!
This Black trail sits middle of the scale on the bike park wales trail map of tech trails. It's a pretty short trail running at 0.4 of a mile long. However It does link up to a mid section of '50 shades of black' or 'Watts occurring' making part of an awesome top to bottom descent!
Boomslang was quite a simple trail to ride at the time of filming but it could develop into something pretty techy in the woods as the lines develop. Apart from the mini road gaps at the top section, I think most intermediates would be ok to give this a crack!

New trail looks mega 😉
Great bit of trail! 👌
I'm at BPW start of next month. Can't wait.
Get in 🤙🏼 enjoy!
Have fun
Excellent 👌👍👍👍
Thanks, It's a fun trail!
Been riding past it all day hunting down the reds and red/blacks. Wish I’d seen this, I would have given it a go!
Yeah it’s not as daunting as you’d think….. very rideable
Don't worry about the shaky footage bit, really good focus on a trail I'd love to ride.
Awesome, thank you for the kind words! Hopefully you get to put wheels on the ground there someday!
super track!
Yeah it's a blast!
I was there a few fays ago its sick
Great little trail!
I like that you compared Bonneville there 👍 for me it was root maneuvers 🤢
Both trails have gotten quite a bit harder as they've worn in!
Was there monday/tuesday and wish I'd checked this out!
It's easy to pass it up just because it's graded black. Wish i'd ridden it more when i was there too
Thanks for the video helps to get some info on this new feature. Never done a double road gap before so a bit intimidated by it as it has some level of the unknown. But what would you say is a good feature to hit at BPW which is close to this one? Can clear everything on ACDC / code not dole and alright at jumping and popping of things in general. Is the double road gap on 50 is a good one even though they're spread out a bit.
Hi Stefan, you're welcome!
Most important part of this section is to make sure you get the second landing smooth so you can control your braking into the corner. Because it drops away quickly you know you will pick up speed as soon as you land.
There isn't really any other hits like this in the park off the top of my head. If you are doing the drop on 50 shades and getting comfortable on most of the hits on A470 then you will be fine on this.
Enjoy!!
thanks for the reply I think it's one of those features you just been to send and isn't one that can be sessioned in stages. Will head back soon to BPW, thanks for the advice and videos!
You're welcome! if you are going to go for it.......you have to do it with conviction and confidence.
Work your way up to it and build your confidence that way. If you're having doubts and it's above your skill level for that particular day, know when to walk away!@@stefan1632 Enjoy!!
@MtbTrailHub Thanks for the comments and replies that kind of you! I'm going through a similar process at Windhill pay rise drops I can do the middle one no problem but the larger one I feel I'm ready to go but then brake at the last moment. I know I can do the drop and I've got the right speed but it's almost automatic to resist it and I have no idea why as it irrational. I've had a number of people saying I've got it and I know I have. I’ve gone off the middle with way too much speed so I can send it way further than is needed I’ve popped off the lip to get height and changed direction in the air to build up knowledge of how to cover the possible outcomes. I guess its my personality type to want to understand everything and doing something new I'm fighting again which could be unknown and what ifs. Guess I can ask how you would approach this as the features you hit are way bigger than the ones I'm currently doing. But I've found your videos really helpful especially the ones on Morzine trails the small road gap on the left going up the chair lift on Super Morzine really helped me get over that feature once I did it was super chill and a lot of fun!
You're welcome Stefan, I've don't this a few times also. Head into the feature with commitment but then natural instinct kicks in and you end up aborting the mission.
Sometimes it just doesn't feel right, go back another day when you're not putting so much pressure on yourself.
It also helps to follow someone in to gauge speed. @@stefan1632
Are you riding tomorrow at bike park wales missed you today… my boys want someone to tow them into boomslanger…. I’m defo not qualified 🤣🤓
Unfortunately not, I was there on Sunday filming this.
Haha, You've got this! Just be ready to get on the brakes going into the first big berm! Enjoy Paul, good luck to the lads too!
@@MtbTrailHub boys are up for it 11 and 12 and nuts I’ll watch 🫣
best trail at BPW at the moment... SO good
Hard to beat loam at a bike park! Couldn't believe my eyes when ! first saw it!!
Qualifier is 10cm Kerb to Kerb and then there's a 15ft road gap! 😂
Haha, yeah it's a bit odd. Not much you can do with the flat ground on entrance though....
