No matter how annoying certain things in this series got, the good stuff was enough for me to really enjoy it. Mater is absolutely at his funniest, and most relatable here.
Fun Fact: The original Godzilla movies were never stop-motion. They were actually the first to use and create suitmation. Suitmation is where an actor in a suit interacts with either green screen or an actual live action model layout. Just a little fun fact I thought you'd find interesting.

I don’t think he meant full-time racing. He probably just meant in spirit, because he knew he couldn’t equate to that of the modern racers. What I mean by in spirit is that he went on to be Cruz's crew chief and continued training with her. He most likely even raced around Willy's Butte in his spare time, similarly to what Doc did.

Would have loved to see one about tuner culture (bringing back the delinquent road hazards), the muscle car culture with some cars from the video games, or even the rat rod culture with some of the Americana cars from the first movie

The first Cars film came out the year I was born, and so I’ve quite literally grown up WITH Cars. It holds a special place in my heart and I don’t think I will ever not live for the thrill of hearing Real Gone blast from my stereo or quoting “Kachow!” whenever I can’t think of anything good to say.
I forced my parents to watch it with me I held them hostage practically and they bought me ALL the dicasts and I would not let ANYBODY touch them if I lined them up color by color. Good times.
McQueen didn’t retire from racing at the end of cars 3, he just took a break to mentor Cruz. He said so himself to sally at the end of the movie, he said “I’m going to keep racing, but before that, I got something I wanna do.” That thing being to mentor Cruz until she found her footing as a racer, then he would go back to racing. That’s why in the first episode he’s back in his racing colours

If I were to make a Cars show, I’d just base it off of Cars 3’s end credits, it’ll be purely episodic with maybe a few themes tying things together, we’ll see the triumphs of Cruz’s first season in the Piston Cup, we’ll see what happens to prominent locations after the events of the movie such as Radiator Springs possibly becoming popular again cuz of Cruz, and the Rusteze Racing Center’s state after Tex’s buyout, and we’ll even get to see what Mater has been up to and his shenanigans at Thunder Hollow and Thomasville, would’ve been way better and much more satisfying to see as a Cars fan than McQueen and Mater going on a random road trip that kinda comes out of nowhere, but if we were to go with that concept, it could’ve been handled a lot more better, even better than your purposed rewrite, overall Cars on the Road is a show that had the potential to bring me back into the Cars world and see the classic friendship of McQueen and Mater as they embark on this laid back road trip, but ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth due to rushed writing and production, and concepts that they either didn’t go far enough with, or were completely flawed from the start and handled poorly in execution, this show is something that’s been on my mind only because it’s sorta recent, but something I definitely won’t be thinking about as much in the future, it doesn’t add or remove anything from the franchise, it’s just sorta that one rushed mini-series for Disney+ that they just put out for the sake of putting out a new Cars thing, it’s very, very mediocre

Humans don't need wash everyday? We demand it since were in a modern society and nobody likes to be dirty and stinky, but outside of that everyday shower isn't really necessary, for most of the history if we washed, it was like once a week/month

Honestly, Cars: On The Road was a missed opportunity. I appreciate what it was trying to do with the concepts, but some of the stories and how the characters are treated at the end don’t impress me. Which is a shame because I was excited for this series. And while watching it, I felt bitter about it.
Also, in The Legend, the Hunters say they are looking for "Bigfoot", who, I didn't realise when I first heard the mention, is also a real-life monster truck. It took me not too long to find that out.
I actually know about the Bigfoot monster truck from an obscure animated series called “Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks.” I can’t remember what channel it was on, I think it Qubo. But anyway, it was from that show I first found out about Bigfoot (the monster truck, not the mythological creature).
Here is what I would change: First of all, McQueen has his blue Hudson themed look. Ramirez is also in the first episode and she lives in radiator springs. She doesn't show up in the other episodes and she just shows up in the last as she suddenly got invited. That's what I would change

I honestly mostly felt like watching this because 1. I always liked Cars (unpopular opinion: I only thought Cars 2 was bad by Pixar standards which is a really high bar anyway) and 2. This show had Steve Purcell heavily involved which sold me as someone who happens to be a big fan of Sam and Max, and so much of this kinda reminds of Sam and Max Hit the Road a bit!
First time I saw Incredibles 2, I felt like I was eating a favorite dish that was missing a spice. It's like it had the ingredients I loved from the first dish, but it was off. I realize now that secret ingredient was integrity. Good job.

We have seen Mater backwards drive in the night forest and we have seen LMq utilize driving backwards AND learn how to drive in a hostile forest at night. I'm surprised that not even once does someone utilize the open road aspect of it all and use these two things in conjunction. They have so many options.
Let alone some of the other THQ Cars characters. If Tug ever gets into game reviewing (unlikely but I can dream), I'd love to see him review the OTHER Cars trilogy: the THQ games.

I would have loved to see Mack in the Trucks episode, sure it wouldn't make sense why he is there but I feel like Pixel would have animated him as a cameo in Mater's fantasy
You say Cars 2 makes no sense, however Cars 2 is the only Pixar movie aside from the incredibles to use guns, which is to me, a very bold move to do in any movie rated under PG 13, considering that Cars 2 came out in 2011, and many Animation studios quit using guns a long time before then.
I get wits you mean with the 50’s monster movie bit but unfortunately godzilla was not a good choice as he was 99.9% of the time never done with stop motion baring one small moment in the original and one moment in the original kong vs Godzilla
Those scenes when lightning and mater are driving together, reminds me one of the first teaser of Cars where we met lightning and mater for the first time driving and talking along side in the road
When you say stop motion monster movies, I hope you mean King Kong because Godzilla is all suit-mation. The original King Kong used models for stop motion animation.
To me the Disney+ series Cars on the Road reusing the Guido model for a background or a minor character is kinda like if a Sonic production set in the game continuity used the Knuckles model for background mobian characters or if a Star Wars production had Yoda's Species as background alien characters.
I loved it it was a nice good little show that put me in a good feel also it's short so it was fun. I don't need every show to have some story and plot cause mater and mcquuen are good characters and they shine on the road together to enjoy it.
If Season 2 of Cars on the Road ever happens on Disney Day (A.K.A. Disney's Birthday...?) Let's hope it shows McQueen, Mater, Cruz and Ivy have new destinations and return home afterwards
It's been said that water is mad hard to animate & CGI. So perhaps the technology & they're skill with that before wasnt as advanced as they needed it for to have a car wash implemented earlier.. I think a good idea for a Series.. would be to have Lightning & Mater do a job-hop hunt.. similar to how reality stars outgrow,(or get fired) from their original show.. and then they make a show out of them finding a new job amongst trying out diff'rent jobs.. 😄.. & With that. They could've set up a few plots & task & races.. & introduced new characters.. fleshed out one or two of those characters & implemented A Car Dealership (which in my mind could be adapted for Car use as an Adoption Adjacency), Car Wash, Bumper Cars, & impound lot.. Do som'n with Garbage Trucks (talk about Pollution).. Mater does better in the workforce than Lightning.. Juss a few of my Rough draft ideas without have seen the series myself. 😄

I see the main point of cars as an "imaginary story about wehicles" . . and because of that is why they can get away with with things like: the weird biomechanical anatomy , or , how can a character a machine from one angle and not from another and other stuff like that , whitch wouldn't make sence irl but works as an imaginary concept
3:27 Love the video! It's awesome to see Pixar at work to give Cars some love, especially with the animation. But this personally irked me. Films like King Kong and Beast From 20,000 Fathoms utilized high amounts of stop motion animation for their monsters. Meanwhile Godzilla (even the 1954 original) specifically used a rubber suit actor. The film has a 1-second stop motion sequence involving his tail but by no means is the movie even close to being considered stop motion.
15:39 The licensed models stood out even more like the Nissan Figaros and Pugeot 206s, those were never sold in the US so I don't think they would be native to the US in that universe. I'm sure the cars immigrate but the amount of times those models were used were a little excessive.
When i heard of a cars spinoff show i thought of the other racers lightning ran with, really from any of the movies, having their focus in individual episodes to further flesh them out. The focus being on Lightning and Mater dissapointed me a bit. I have not watched this yet, but the announcement of what the show would be distanced me from watching it

This mini series definitely had flaws….but I didn’t give 2 crap about it because of all the fun I had!!^^ The episodic storytelling worked well for me, animation was the cleanest the Cars franchise had ever seen, the friendship between McQueen and Mater had was definitely a great mashup and conclusion of what they had in both Cars 2 and 3, and I love the soundtrack!!! The Trucks song’s beat was simple but it REALLY worked, and that soundtrack that plays in The Legend when the Hunters see the Fake UFO gave me chills of No Copyright music from older let’s play videos^^
Cars 2 is a guilty pleasure for me. Probably because I loved it as a kid and Larry the Cable Guy is one of my favorite comedians. I'm not gonna say this guy's wrong to dislike it, but I look back on it fondly

I'm sorry but my inner geek needs to speak out: at 3:33 you mention "Godzilla" as one of the old classic stop motion movies. This was one of the worst false examples you could've used, as the original Godzilla was specifically known for NOT using stop-motion and instead inventing a new style known as Suit-mation, which became a staple of the series to come.
8:37 in the old mobile game Cars: Fast as Lightning, released in 2014, you actually could unlock a car wash that gave you free EXP every couple of hours. And you could even send some cars in there for some extra goodies. If anything, those two episodes of Mater wanting to be better at stuff could serve as a hint of foreshadowing to the final episode where it’s revealed, via his sister, that he’s always had somewhat of a competitive streak.
The Shining episode of the Cars television series was fantastic lol I’m a die hard Kubrick fan and thought they did a great job of translating the Overlook into the Cars world ❤

First time I saw Incredibles 2, I felt like I was eating a favorite dish that was missing a spice. It's like it had the ingredients I loved from the first dish, but it was off.

20:35-20:48-It would be nice and appealing if Disney included expanded universe characters in Cars on the Road just like how they included Grand Admiral Thrawn and Rukh in Star Wars: Rebels or Cobb Vanth, Black Krrsantan, and Brendol Hux in The Mandoverse.
We have seen Mater backwards drive in the night forest and we have seen LMq utilize driving backwards AND learn how to drive in a hostile forest at night. I'm surprised that not even once does someone utilize the open road aspect of it all and use these two things in conjunction. They have so many options.
I’m excited to see that Tug knows who Bubba is.
Let alone some of the other THQ Cars characters. If Tug ever gets into game reviewing (unlikely but I can dream), I'd love to see him review the OTHER Cars trilogy: the THQ games.

To be honest, I see him as a very passionate critic. Sure, lashing on anybody who likes stuff he hates is dumb, but in stuff like his Incredibles 2 review, he makes some genuinely decent points, and brings up stuff others may not think about.
I was actually quite surprised when I heard that Buena Vista (Walt Disney’s distributor) was to do a Cars television series.

You say Cars 2 makes no sense, however Cars 2 is the only Pixar movie aside from the incredibles to use guns, which is to me, a very bold move to do in any movie rated under PG 13, considering that Cars 2 came out in 2011, and many Animation studios quit using guns a long time before then.
I get wits you mean with the 50’s monster movie bit but unfortunately godzilla was not a good choice as he was 99.9% of the time never done with stop motion baring one small moment in the original and one moment in the original kong vs Godzilla
Those scenes when lightning and mater are driving together, reminds me one of the first teaser of Cars where we met lightning and mater for the first time driving and talking along side in the road

To me the Disney+ series Cars on the Road reusing the Guido model for a background or a minor character is kinda like if a Sonic production set in the game continuity used the Knuckles model for background mobian characters or if a Star Wars production had Yoda's Species as background alien characters.
Especially since Guido is supposed to be a fictional Italian forklift model that is supposed to be rare in the United States of America.
I loved it it was a nice good little show that put me in a good feel also it's short so it was fun. I don't need every show to have some story and plot cause mater and mcquuen are good characters and they shine on the road together to enjoy it.
Shame the series was kinda missed potential but it’s mostly fine if underwhelming

It's been said that water is mad hard to animate & CGI. So perhaps the technology & they're skill with that before wasnt as advanced as they needed it for to have a car wash implemented earlier..
I think a good idea for a Series.. would be to have Lightning & Mater do a job-hop hunt.. similar to how reality stars outgrow,(or get fired) from their original show.. and then they make a show out of them finding a new job amongst trying out diff'rent jobs.. 😄..
& With that. They could've set up a few plots & task & races.. & introduced new characters.. fleshed out one or two of those characters & implemented A Car Dealership (which in my mind could be adapted for Car use as an Adoption Adjacency), Car Wash, Bumper Cars, & impound lot.. Do som'n with Garbage Trucks (talk about Pollution)..

I see the main point of cars as an "imaginary story about wehicles" . . and because of that is why they can get away with with things like: the weird biomechanical anatomy , or , how can a character a machine from one angle and not from another

Love the video! It's awesome to see Pixar at work to give Cars some love, especially with the animation. But this personally irked me.
Films like King Kong and Beast From 20,000 Fathoms utilized high amounts of stop motion animation for their monsters.
Meanwhile Godzilla (even the 1954 original) specifically used a rubber suit actor. The film has a 1-second stop motion sequence involving his tail but by no means is the movie even close to being considered stop motion.
15:39 The licensed models stood out even more like the Nissan Figaros and Pugeot 206s, those were never sold in the US so I don't think they would be native to the US in that universe. I'm sure the cars immigrate but the amount of times those models were used were a little excessive.
When i heard of a cars spinoff show i thought of the other racers lightning ran with, really from any of the movies, having their focus in individual episodes to further flesh them out. The focus being on Lightning and Mater dissapointed me a bit. I have not watched this yet, but the announcement of what the show would be distanced me from watching it

This mini series definitely had flaws….but I didn’t give 2 crap about it because of all the fun I had!!^^
The episodic storytelling worked well for me, animation was the cleanest the Cars franchise had ever seen, the friendship between McQueen and Mater had was definitely a great mashup and conclusion of what they had in both Cars 2 and 3, and I love the soundtrack!!! The Trucks song’s beat was simple but it REALLY worked, and that soundtrack that plays in The Legend when the Hunters see the Fake UFO gave me chills of No Copyright music from older let’s play videos^^
Cars 2 is a guilty pleasure for me. Probably because I loved it as a kid and Larry the Cable Guy is one of my favorite comedians. I'm not gonna say this guy's wrong to dislike it, but I look back on it fondly

I'm sorry but my inner geek needs to speak out: at 3:33 you mention "Godzilla" as one of the old classic stop motion movies. This was one of the worst false examples you could've used, as the original Godzilla was specifically known for NOT using stop-motion and instead inventing a new style known as Suit-mation, which became a staple of the series to come.

If anything, those two episodes of Mater wanting to be better at stuff could serve as a hint of foreshadowing to the final episode where it’s revealed, via his sister, that he’s always had somewhat of a competitive streak.
