The problem I had with my boot lock (307 hatchback 2002) was actually the levered switch you press with your fingers to open it. After removing the trim and one bolt I was able to add a little springy material under it to ensure the switch springs out every time (I used a small 1cm square of carpet underlay!). Your videos have helped me countless times so I wanted to give back :) Thanks
Hey Nick, Thanks a lot for good tips! They are very much appreciated not only by me but everybody watching the video. It's also very nice to hear that you like the channel. I appreciate your feedback a lot! Keep up the good work! :) Cheers
It's worth mention the switch is one of the main culprits regarding locking/unlocking troubles on Peugeot/Citroens. Although on it's defense and regardless. It's one of the most "reliable" means of opening and closing a boot! Particularly on regions with really crappy weather. Meaning lots of rain, snow or ice (salt) and the constant use of jet wash! Accelerate the issue by many folds. It's "kryptonite" is water/moist in large quantities! Jet wash fans be aware! ;-) Point is, the gasket on the handle area, over time, loose its suppleness. Gets crunched and start allowing water and debris ingress. Over time it take it's toll on the electric contacts. As an example, on mine. The electrical contact tabs were, literally, green with corrosion! Leading to really awkward behavior of the trunk latch. Opening by itself, etc. Electrical cooper/brass, etc. contacts and "green" corrosion is a big no no! Now the good NEWS. 5€ on Ebay and 10 minutes of your time is all that's needed to indulge your car with a brand new switch... VAT and postage included. LOL 😂 New gasket would be ideal, but in the real world remove the old material . Clean it all and replace with some silicone or better yet some urethane sealant (color of your choice). Done no more water ingress, ever! ;-)
Thanks a lot for your video! Some moron had "repaired" the cable connection to My lock with three separate cables.😠 I tore them loose by accident while changing THE lights for the number plate. Btw thanks for that video as well. Luckily, in the last bit of your video, one can clearly see the order and color of the cables. Saved me one hell of a headache! 😃
I’m having an issue with my 207 SW tailgate not opening, I’ve replaced the 30 amp microchip on the fuse panel, replaced the lock mechanism latch and even carried out a fluke test and getting a reading back from it so I’m wondering could there be a loose solenoid somewhere as when I unlock the car the tailgate noise doesn’t click?
Mine failed to open - it was poor contacts on the motor and microswitch plugs. The plugs come apart easily so you can clean them and gently squeeze the contacts to make them tighter. It's happened twice now in 3 years, but at least it's an easy job!
Beside cleaning the contacts and tightening them up. Make sure to treat the real culprit for all the problem. The worn gasket, it's flattened out. Lost its suppleness! You're treating the symptoms, but not addressing the disease. Reason why it happened twice in 3 years, but not on the first decade of existence! If not properly addressed it will only get worse over time. ;-) Options are: New gasket's, obviously. Or my preference (cheap & fast) remove old gasket, clean area and apply some sealant. Silicone work fine, but my preference is urethane sealant. You won't look back to that at least for the next decade. ;-) Edit: Worth mention, a brand new switch on Ebay, from China. Set me back a tiny little bit below 5€. Item, VAT and postage included! Truly not worth the trouble...
I got the 407 Sw -08, i presume its the same procedure. My issue is that my lock used to be hard to open, you had to open inwards to open. Now it barey locks and opens randomly or hard to close the boot. I presume this is due to a broken lock since the bottom part it locks in to is not loose.
Thank you for a very clear video. I have a question. My lock does not activate by key or the button, so an issue with the electrics. Do you have a video on fixing that? In the interim I want to fool the trunk into opening with a 12v battery. What is the name of the type of plug that is used for teh connection? Te green one connecting the power. Thank you...
Hi Emmet, Sorry for late answer, lots to do lately. What do you mean by plug? If you want to use the 12v battery you can just drag the cable from the car battery - in this case I am not sure whether there is a resistor on the way so that we would need to check in the wiring diagram. I can look for it in 2 weeks (i borrowed it at the moment). Cheers
No, I didnt fix it yet. I was going to do a temporary fix by just connecting a 12v battery and switch placed just behind the back seats to unlock the boot when I need it. There is a green plug that is plugged into the lock to feed the power to open it. I just want to buy one of them to connect to a wire and then to a battery. What is the plug type/name and what type of cable do I need? Thanks in advance.
Wtedy uwolnisz cały element i otworzysz bagażnik. Dalej będziesz musiał zdjąć pokrywę bagażnika (jak na filmie) i odkręcić górny zamek, żeby zobaczyć co się stało. Trzymam kciuki, powodzenia!

Thanks a ton! Great video! I had a loud rattle, turned out the trunk was loose. It was the two plastic pins you mentioned - spot on!
Thank you for this video, I fixed my car with no cost!
CONGRATS! Great to hear that :)
It's a very nice video, thank you for your effort.

Hi. Did you open up the door lock mechanism and have you got any photos? I am wondering if there is anything missing inside mine?
Can u show how to fit bonnet release?

Thnx, broken wire between switch and coupling
This is really good and clear, thank you.
You are welcome Kevin!
Thanks for your feedback :)
Mine doesn't work. Lock and the switch is fine but when i press nothing happens. There is also 12V coming to the lock. How to fix?
Thanks a lot
I can't find any third party locks. Would you recommend getting a new original one or try to find an old one at the junkyard?
Спасибо за все видео, познавательно.
пожалуйста, поздравления !
