And I underestimated the Impaling enchantment at first until I realised that it's deadly (in rain/water). I don't suggest Channelling and Impaling together.
9:49 i use to do that but is more efficient if at the moment of getting out of the water you open the elytra, the trident impulse will be transfered 2 the elytra
Riptide’s enchantment during any rain or thunder storms can be used alongside elytra as a very effective travel tool, no need to waste a few fireworks.
I think you forgot something important to mention. When some certain mobs get hit by lightning, they change. Channeling trudents also activate these effects. The mobs that change are: Creeper -> charged creeper Villager -> witch Red mooshroom -> brown mooshroom / brown mooshroom -> red mooshroom (works both ways) Pig -> zombified pigling Thats all i rememberd, but maybe there are more. Idk
with riptide and elytra in rain it’s possible to literally go faster than sound in Minecraft It’s an actual alternative to nether travel but if your computer isn’t good it can take several minutes to load chunks
Tridents are so helpful for exploration I always get one and a riptide trader asap. Use your boat and pull up near shore, riptide into the air for a look to spot things of interest
I really feel like tridents shouldn't despawn that quickly when they're so valuable! I'm guessing it's reused code from arrows. But they should change it in an update (especially if channeling and loyalty are mutually exclusive enchantments)! Also, trident carrying drowned 2 hit unarmored players which seems a bit OP especially if you spawn in an ocean biome.
tridents are probably the best weapon in my opinion. Pretty sick that you can put mending and loyalty, unlike bow's which you can't put infinity and mending on at the same time
Just want to add a few things. I know your video mainly focus on the Java edition but the trident does behave differently on Bedrock edition. 1. Player thrown tridents on bedrock don't despawn hence why they are used in trident killers. Also applies the looting effect if the person who threw the trident is holding a sword with looting. 2.Tridents with channeling regardless if its regular rain or a thunder storm will cause a lightning strike on bedrock edition. 3. Impaling will cause extra damage to any mob in water/rain on bedrock edition. 4.Using riptide to fly during rain/thunderstorm with an elytra doesn't cause durability damage to the trident on bedrock edition but it does on java edition. So if you play bedrock edition always keep a riptide trident on you for free flying when it rains to save firework rockets. Good video though.
About point number two, this only applies to lightning rods and due to a bug. From experience the trident only works in thunder and in rain if it hits a lightning rod. But yes, tridents are dope in Bedrock. I keep a loyalty and riptide on me all the time
Tip: Sometimes (not always works) giving a trident drowned nautilus shell sometimes give (throw)their trident. And the trident will be on full durability.
Fun fact using a sharpness IV,looting III sword hit the drowned that has a trident one time then hit it with a fortune 3 picked your chance of getting a trident 90/100 I did 6 times and got 5 trident on MC bedrock tho the fortune act as an additional looting 3
Its quit hilarious how I was waiting for you to finally mention that elytra and riptide trident function. No, seriously. You are perhaps the first one to ever mention that the riptide 3 trident can make you fly hundreds of blocks with an open elytra by *one* charge or throw
In the video when you used riptide with elytra I noticed you only activated the elytra when you were done with launching yourself. It's actually much more effective if you spam space as you're releasing the trident if you're launching yourself from a water source. Also you can use waterlogged chests instead of source blocks, which you can place around your base as convenient launching platforms. I barely ever use firework rockets when traveling in the overworld, I use my trusty riptide trident almost all of the time.
2 tridents, one with riptide 3 and the other one with loyalty 3 and channeling 1 plus both having mending, unbreaking and impaling absolutely destroy in rain or water. The quick movement for melee and the ability to also have range with one shotting most mobs is really good
In bedrock edition, If you have Strength II paired with an Impaling V and Riptide III Trident, you can equip your Elytra, and if it is raining and you hit a player with full Prot 4 Netherite with the riptide charge while flying, it does 4 hearts of damage due to: 1. Impaling scaling on players in Bedrock (offering more than Sharp V netherite) 2. Elytra Crits 3. The Strength boost
You could also give the drowned a nautilus shell and it will drop a full durability trident. From what i know it works on both versions but i've only tested on bedrock.
@@NastyRex trap him in a box and give him a nautilus shell, he will swap items so he's with the nautilus now and then he drops a full durability trodent
In my opinion there should be a weapon update on which they add more weapons and variations of already existing weapons, for example a pitchfork or hell fork, they don’t work on water but they can be enchanted with fire aspect and when you throw it, it burns the enemy you threw it at
Well the combat test snapshots Were a thing Yes no new weapons but there were changes Like axes being able to have any enchanent the sword has All weapons being a Lot faster almost spammable like twice the speed they have currently in Java Shields were nerfed to just block 5 damage potions are stackable ( only drink potions ) Bows lower accuracy the longer you hold them to encourge to try these sniper or camper táctics with the crossbow There is attack reach Stat now Axes are the slowest and shortest but strongest Swords are medium And hoes are the longest fastest and weakest ( now their damage along with axes increases by 1 for every material tier netherite hoes deal 2 hearts ) The damage of axes and swords is lowered Now all swords deal 1 less damage and all axes deal 1 extra damage compared to the sword of the same material Axes have their own exclusive enchantment called cleaving it increases the shield stun and damage ( cleaving 3 axe Aka the max deals the same damage as sharpness 9 sword of the same material) Multishot of the crossbow now can hit the same entity with all arrows working as a shot gun Snowballs can be stacked upto 64 but have a small cooldown Riptide works on anything on water or rain And a Lot more
None of methods mentioned here for PvP are really competitive, and the genuinely useful one was skipped 1. Melee attacks - outperformed by dedicated weapons - swords and axes (9 damage vs 11 or 13 damage) 2. Regular ranged throws - outperformed by bows (8 damage vs 13 on half charge, 15 full charge and 25 critical damage, plus fire) that can fire more rapidly because you don't need to wait for the arrows to return to you 3. Lighting ranged throws - still outperformed by bows (8+5 damage plus fire vs 13 on half charge, 15 full charge and 25 critical damage, plus fire) 4. Riptide attack - outperformed by riptide attack... but with the trident in offhand and netherite axe in main hand (9 damage vs 13 damage) No matter where is your riptide trident - main hand or off-hand you do as much damage as the weapon in main hand If you replace axe with sword, you can also riptide into targets with looting on it to obtain more ink sacs
They should make it so channeling work when its only raining but doesn't cause fire. They can also make riptide hits do high knockback and mojang should make the despawn time longer. They're too rare to despawn in one minute
The really unfortunate thing is that depth strider boots increase water drag, making riptide really slow or hardly propel you while in the water. You can still go into the air from the water and that's not affected, same applies for rain. But before traveling through an ocean I would recommend taking off your boots if they have depth strider or not enchanting them with depth strider at all.
I like carrying 2 or even 3 Impaling V, Loyalty III tridents in the water to alternate throwing so I'm not ever waiting for tridents to return. Elder Guardians are painfully easy to kill from a distance
The easiest way I found to get tridents is by throwing Nautilus shells directly at the drowned with tridents and then they give you the trident on Bedrock Edition
@@killestone Drowned prioritize holding nautilus shells in BE so they drop whatever else they are holding. It is a quick way to get a full durability trident. Though the drop rate in BE is so much higher then Java it's not hard to get a lot of them quickly just killing drowned.

What exactly has changed about the abilities of the trident that make them specifically OP in 1.19? Seems they’re exactly the same. Fun, but for the most part an inferior melee weapon while swords exist..
Nothing, they just did that annoying youtuber thing where they constantly change their title to make it seem like the video is more recent/relevant than it is.
I'm not sure if it's the same in java, but in bedrock, Impaling enchantment increases the damage of the trident, both melee and ranged attacks as long as the mob/player you hit is touching water/rain.
One worthy add on, do not throw trident into the void as it will never land on a block thus will not come back to you even with Royalty enchantment. I find trident being most useful as it act as both sword and arrow. One weapon that did it all. It's also a great if not only way to reliably get charged creeper for grinding mob heads. In the past we'll have to rely on pure RNG but now with trident it's so much easier. Technically possible with lightening rods but it's still pretty RNG.
0:55 fun fact: you can "trade" a nautilus shell to a drowned with a trident and theres a higher rate he is gonna drop the trident and pick the shell up
Getting 2 tridents was quite annoying, but the riptide trident is amazing with elytra, especially since I have a base in an archipelago area. Loyalty is kind of fun, but a bow is just better. Also, I little note about riptide with elytra that wasn't mentioned in the video: if your elytra is active before you use riptide you will go further than if you use riptide then activate the elytra.
Riptide trident, 2 water buckets, ender pearls, potion of slow falling, that's the best way to travel in The End before you have an elytra, gotta be careful though, but it beats making bridges for 2 hours.
The Trident doesnt deal enough damage imo so I happily go with the Riptide enchantment. Makes flying out of the ocean with Elytra a lot easier than with just rockets.
Did you guys know That when you throw a trident next to a warden it will actually make a sound Meaning that you can have a loyalty trident as bait when goind in ancient cities
Here's another tip of obtaining one just throw a natulius shell at the drowned holding the trident and when it picks up the shell it drops an undamaged trident try it it works and if it doesn't blame me
Ran into a trident wielding drowned i On my friends realms server. I was casually sailing the ocean with no prior incident. Then bam! My boat was gone. Then I get my health halved in the next second. I was getting chased by normal drowned and in the back was a trident drowned that was throwing tridents in what felt like 1 second intervals. It doesn’t give me any time to eat, use my bow. All I could do was use my shield until it broke and I died. Thankfully I’ve got a supernatural sense of direction in Minecraft and found my stuff 1500 blocks away from any kind of land. Nearly got killed by that drowned again, but I made a b-line back to land after grabbing the valuables. Tridents are op, but I’d only say that in reference to the mob. Players normally won’t have a inventory’s worth of tridents and spam them with near perfect accuracy.
My friend and I relish the rainy days in the game. We pull out our Riptide III tridents and superman jump through everything that moves. If we hear the thunder, then its the channeling trident's turn to have fun.
I think it would be cool if the Trident could be used while you have your shield held up (with reduced attack speed as well). I know they probably wouldn't add more animations to vanilla, but a spear thrust from behind a shield would be cool (although I'm sure there are differences between a spear and a trident IRL). Help it differentiate between Sword vs. Axe vs. Trident
@@RealValkor i'm like 99% sure you can enchant them with unbreaking III and mending BUT they could definitely use a little bit more. A thorns enchant? Or a 'parry' enchant that could stun melee and reflect projectiles better (skeleton arrows, ghast fireballs, ender dragon breath, etc.)

hi eyecraft I know a lot about minecraft but I still watch your vids cause they're super fun and informative. Also I think there's a way to guarantee getting a trident from a trident drowned by giving it a nautilus shell, apparently it drops the trident and picks up the nautilus shell
Also on Bedrock, Riptide doesn't consume durability unless you hit a mob. And don't put Impaling V on a Channeling trident, because it will kill creepers in 1 hit.
Impaling actually increases damage to ANY mobile or player that is being touched by water (standing in water or rain) an impaling 5 trident can one shot a player in iron armor when raining. (This does not apply to snow and this is in Bedrock edition)
I like the fact that impaling 5 will work on any mob wether they are water based or not they just need to get their feet wet with a simple bucket of water or be caught in a sudden storm also riptide can be used in rain and if you pair it with an elytra you can use the forward momentum the trident provides to help fly through the air without the need of rockets.
Bedrock actually has a secret ability in it, and it is that they don’t despawn on the ground and maintain their hitbox. Since trident don’t, you can make trident killing chambers for mobs in farm

A bow would be much stronger, faster, and easier to obtain.

I decided to name my throwable trident "Stormbringer" (or maybe "Thunderstrike", still not sure yet) and the one with Riptide "Maelstrom".
Nice!
Idc
Chanel Number 5
Thunder Gun
hey, i also named my riptide trident "maelstrom!" i named my channeling trident "tempest" haha
Riptide’s enchantment during any rain or thunder storms can be used alongside elytra as a very effective travel tool, no need to waste a few fireworks.
I think you forgot something important to mention. When some certain mobs get hit by lightning, they change. Channeling trudents also activate these effects. The mobs that change are:
Creeper -> charged creeper
Villager -> witch
Red mooshroom -> brown mooshroom / brown mooshroom -> red mooshroom (works both ways)
Pig -> zombified pigling
Thats all i rememberd, but maybe there are more. Idk
with riptide and elytra in rain it’s possible to literally go faster than sound in Minecraft
It’s an actual alternative to nether travel but if your computer isn’t good it can take several minutes to load chunks
I use console, and yeah, with riptide 3 and an elytra I literally go faster than the chunk loading speed
Also, trident carrying drowned 2 hit unarmored players which seems a bit OP especially if you spawn in an ocean biome.
good video!!
Thanks!
Amazing! I never knew tridents were this useful! Great guide!
09:00 bro became Irelia😂
1:13 Note you don't actually have to kill 140 of them, you only need to kill the ones holding a trident. Like 13 of them.
tridents are probably the best weapon in my opinion.
I keep a loyalty and riptide on me all the time
@@dtslawyer6970 You are correct. I forgot to mention that aspect.
Tip: Sometimes (not always works) giving a trident drowned nautilus shell sometimes give (throw)their trident. And the trident will be on full durability.
Learn english
Fun fact using a sharpness IV,looting III sword hit the drowned that has a trident one time then hit it with a fortune 3 picked your chance of getting a trident 90/100 I did 6 times and got 5 trident on MC bedrock tho the fortune act as an additional looting 3
Tridents with riptide actually reduces the durability of armour by a lot, you can break netherite in 50 hits
Its quit hilarious how I was waiting for you to finally mention that elytra and riptide trident function.
No, seriously. You are perhaps the first one to ever mention that the riptide 3 trident can make you fly hundreds of blocks with an open elytra by *one* charge or throw
The Minecraftian urge to name an un-enchanted Trident so you can message other players in an overly fancy way
In the video when you used riptide with elytra I noticed you only activated the elytra when you were done with launching yourself.
I love tridents it's one of the many reasons I love living on an island
2 tridents, one with riptide 3 and the other one with loyalty 3 and channeling 1 plus both having mending, unbreaking and impaling absolutely destroy in rain or water.
The quick movement for melee and the ability to also have range with one shotting most mobs is really good
womp womp
In bedrock edition, If you have Strength II paired with an Impaling V and Riptide III Trident, you can equip your Elytra, and if it is raining and you hit a player with full Prot 4 Netherite with the riptide charge while flying, it does 4 hearts of damage due to:
1. Impaling scaling on players in Bedrock (offering more than Sharp V netherite)
2. Elytra Crits
3. The Strength boost
I miss the old way of any drowned having a chance to drop a trident. I rigged my zombie spawner to convert into drowned if I wanted it
Great video that was an awesome throw/camera shot!! I did not know a lot of this stuff
You could also give the drowned a nautilus shell and it will drop a full durability trident. From what i know it works on both versions but i've only tested on bedrock.
can you please explain more in detail
@@NastyRex trap him in a box and give him a nautilus shell, he will swap items so he's with the nautilus now and then he drops a full durability trodent
@@Chassti to give him the shell do i just drop it or use dispenser and will i have to kill him afterwards to get the trident or will he just drop it?

"Tridents are op in Minecraft 1.19", proceeds to show old facts about tridents that everybody already knows
In my opinion there should be a weapon update on which they add more weapons and variations of already existing weapons, for example a pitchfork or hell fork, they don’t work on water but they can be enchanted with fire aspect and when you throw it, it burns the enemy you threw it at
Well the combat test snapshots
Were a thing
Yes no new weapons but there were changes
Like axes being able to have any enchanent the sword has
All weapons being a Lot faster almost spammable like twice the speed they have currently in Java
Shields were nerfed to just block 5 damage potions are stackable ( only drink potions )
Bows lower accuracy the longer you hold them to encourge to try these sniper or camper táctics with the crossbow
There is attack reach Stat now
Axes are the slowest and shortest but strongest
Swords are medium
And hoes are the longest fastest and weakest ( now their damage along with axes increases by 1 for every material tier netherite hoes deal 2 hearts )
The damage of axes and swords is lowered
Now all swords deal 1 less damage and all axes deal 1 extra damage compared to the sword of the same material
Axes have their own exclusive enchantment called cleaving it increases the shield stun and damage ( cleaving 3 axe Aka the max deals the same damage as sharpness 9 sword of the same material)
Multishot of the crossbow now can hit the same entity with all arrows working as a shot gun
Snowballs can be stacked upto 64 but have a small cooldown
Riptide works on anything on water or rain
And a Lot more
So flame for a bow basically
None of methods mentioned here for PvP are really competitive, and the genuinely useful one was skipped
1. Melee attacks - outperformed by dedicated weapons - swords and axes (9 damage vs 11 or 13 damage)
2. Regular ranged throws - outperformed by bows (8 damage vs 13 on half charge, 15 full charge and 25 critical damage, plus fire) that can fire more rapidly because you don't need to wait for the arrows to return to you
3. Lighting ranged throws - still outperformed by bows (8+5 damage plus fire vs 13 on half charge, 15 full charge and 25 critical damage, plus fire)
4. Riptide attack - outperformed by riptide attack... but with the trident in offhand and netherite axe in main hand (9 damage vs 13 damage)
No matter where is your riptide trident - main hand or off-hand you do as much damage as the weapon in main hand
If you replace axe with sword, you can also riptide into targets with looting on it to obtain more ink sacs
In Bedrock Edition the Impaling Enchantment affects any mob that is on Water or Rain
Thats why bedrock better
They should make it so channeling work when its only raining but doesn't cause fire. They can also make riptide hits do high knockback and mojang should make the despawn time longer. They're too rare to despawn in one minute
The really unfortunate thing is that depth strider boots increase water drag, making riptide really slow or hardly propel you while in the water. You can still go into the air from the water and that's not affected, same applies for rain. But before traveling through an ocean I would recommend taking off your boots if they have depth strider or not enchanting them with depth strider at all.
I unfortunately had no option with the enchantments because I've got is as bonus enchant to prot 3 so I always just take them off

I like carrying 2 or even 3 Impaling V, Loyalty III tridents in the water to alternate throwing so I'm not ever waiting for tridents to return. Elder Guardians are painfully easy to kill from a distance
The easiest way I found to get tridents is by throwing Nautilus shells directly at the drowned with tridents and then they give you the trident on Bedrock Edition
wait what?, really? that's absolutely freaking broken wtf
@@killestone Drowned prioritize holding nautilus shells in BE so they drop whatever else they are holding. It is a quick way to get a full durability trident. Though the drop rate in BE is so much higher then Java it's not hard to get a lot of them quickly just killing drowned.
This will probably sound ridiculous but the subscribe bit at the beginning got me. I'm subbing. Hard to believe such a small amount of viewers sub, but the platform itself seems to discourage it. I often watch videos just in preview these days, it's so much work to go through and sub in comparison. But the platform also dictates your exposure on sub numbers to a degree. Sounds tough. But I hope you succeed because it's evident you value professionalism and your content is timely and appropriately thorough. Your videos are very helpful, and minecraft has a million mechanics so it's great to have these as a resource to familiarize myself with new mechanics. Keep it up it'll be my pleasure to see your new videos in my feed as they're released.
Does Impaling only work on water-based mobs or all mobs within water? And does this extend to rain?
If your on bedrock, its all mobs that are in water, in java its "water mobs" only drowned, guardians, tropical fish etc
@@Eyecraftmc thank you
@@Eyecraftmc hopefully java will get the parity so all mobs in water get the extra damage there aswell
@@Eyecraftmc uh, drowned is actually "undead" mob which means impaling is useless againts them.
TRIDENTS ARE THE BEST THING IN MINECRAFT!!!! :)
Rare to😅
They are awesome for sure :D
Damn trident with loyalty enchantment feels like Thor’s Mjolnir so cool!!
Tip: dont use trident in the end
Cuz void
I'm loving the editing in this video and the camera shots as well!
The Trident doesnt deal enough damage imo so I happily go with the Riptide enchantment. Makes flying out of the ocean with Elytra a lot easier than with just rockets.
Love your style; excellent MC youtubery right here. Eyecraft and Ray's Works are the best
Great vid. You just forgot that some trident enchantments are mutually exclusive.
Did you guys know
That when you throw a trident next to a warden it will actually make a sound
Meaning that you can have a loyalty trident as bait when goind in ancient cities
I found 4 tridents in a row a couple of days ago. Never realised how rare that was until now
That riptide animation makes me want to say "it's treason then..." and then twirl in the direction of my enemy
Here's another tip of obtaining one just throw a natulius shell at the drowned holding the trident and when it picks up the shell it drops an undamaged trident try it it works and if it doesn't blame me
Ran into a trident wielding drowned i
On my friends realms server.
Bro literally went back to change the title and description despite the intro of the video dating the video to 1.18
The information still applies buddy
"Drowned have only 6.25% chance on spawning". Me swimming across a deep river after just having spawned: "You have died."
My friend and I relish the rainy days in the game. We pull out our Riptide III tridents and superman jump through everything that moves. If we hear the thunder, then its the channeling trident's turn to have fun.
The by accident by your base is so true I got 2 tridents from drowns just spawning in my sugarcane farm
10:49 you can reach WAY higher than that, you can go over 1332 kph if you keep charging constantly
Throw the trident towards the like and subscribe buttons
I think it would be cool if the Trident could be used while you have your shield held up (with reduced attack speed as well). I know they probably wouldn't add more animations to vanilla, but a spear thrust from behind a shield would be cool (although I'm sure there are differences between a spear and a trident IRL). Help it differentiate between Sword vs. Axe vs. Trident
Speaking of shields, I wish they got variations and exclusive enchantments, they break too quickly.
@@King_Cyn I agree! It's a shame mojang doesn't take community ideas that often. I would normally just make or download a mod but currently I'm playing in bedrock.
Absolutely amazing information. Here's a tip, use a less monotone style of script reading. It was a little difficult to get there as a listener
There’s a neat trick you can do to easily find some drowned… Just work on something next to the water with your back turned lol they will find you!
1:53 very good camera shot wow
Lol I like that the drowned was trying to do a 360 but changes his mind🤣🤣🤣
hi eyecraft I know a lot about minecraft but I still watch your vids cause they're super fun and informative.
(This does not apply to snow and this is in Bedrock edition)
u can also add sharpness 5 and power 5 for haveng big melie damage
I like the fact that impaling 5 will work on any mob wether they are water based or not they just need to get their feet wet with a simple bucket of water or be caught in a sudden storm also riptide can be used in rain and if you pair it with an elytra you can use the forward momentum the trident provides to help fly through the air without the need of rockets.
Unfortunately, only in bedrock
Definitely worth subscribing to 🤘
Bedrock actually has a secret ability in it, and it is that they don’t despawn on the ground and maintain their hitbox. Since trident don’t, you can make trident killing chambers for mobs in farm
Surprisingly on every.multiplayer world i join i always encounter a drowned trident. Now i get it why my friends are surprised that i have a trident early
The cut to “rip trident 2022-2022” got me
8:11 this segment had me crying😭
Yea I remember having these enchantments on my Trident (except riptide ig) and clearing ocean monuments a lot easier than it should be lmao. Then I literally named my trident the Poseidon.
Is it possible to change the enchantment?
Thank you so much on what enchantment that I can put on my trident
