Definitely listen to the +44 album, Mark and Travis project after blink-182 went on hiatus. I freaking love this album and now and then listen to it in it's entirety. It's really a shame they never released a new album, even though it's because they got blink back together.
Definitely this. Personally I think Boxcar is one of my favorite albums of all time. This album is the first work after Boxcar so the influence is all over it. It's darker and more serious. I always wondered why this album was self-titled, but I think it's when they really found their sound. Such a good album.
favorite album of all time right here. A masterpiece with Stockholm Syndrome being an absolute favorite would love to see you check out the next full Blink album Neighborhoods
The girl in the Always video is Australian Singer and T.V Host "Sophie Monk". She was part of group called "Bardot". And now hosts and is part of a lot of Australian reality T.V
I have to say your reaction page is very underrated. I watched a few of your reactions ( Eternal blue, hybrid theory, three cheers and this) and I have to say I really appreciate your take on these reactions. You gained a fan
Blink is the only band that I know of that has three (some say 4) albums that could all be ranked number 1 of their catalog. Of course this has its own problems as well, because it means its REALLY difficult to match the level of quality with future releases. Its hard to look at a title completely objectively when a band has a run of three 10/10 or 9/10 albums. in my opinion this is why Modern Blink gets so much hate from fans now neighborhoods onwards. IMO they're frankly just a great band, and each are fantastic songwriters, even on their first (studio) album Chesire Cat you can already hear how good they are. Chesire is my lowest rated album, at a 7/10. Which is good and above average, but whats above average when compared to perfection?
I literally had a come to god moment listening to this album with good quality headphones and an official copy for the first time after listening to an mp3 disc rip with shit earbuds for years
this album was one of the crown jewels of unsung genius producer jerry finn who helped create the sounds of all the best bands of this little era of music. you should check out Sing The Sorrow by AFI. another masterclass from jerry
Since you asked, their influences were Bad Astronaut, Fugazi, and The Cure on this album. They wanted to experiment with a different sound while staying punk, so the resulting album was this. As for what the lady in that interlude is talking about, it's a letter Mark Hoppus' grandmother sent his grandfather during WWII. They got a woman named Joanne to read it for the album and the result is that very eerie build into Stockholm Syndrome.
I like at end how lost without you ends with that drum beat. It feels like a heart beat that matches the intensity of the faster tracks....then it stops and the shows over.....
The ending of Feeling This with the two audio vocal tracks mixing was a mistake. It was originally supposed to just fade out, but they thought it sounded cool.
The Stockholm Syndrome Interlude was with vocals by Joanne Whalley, in which she is reading Mark Hoppus's grandfather's letters that he wrote to his grandmother during World War II.
Now is the perfect time to dive into their side projects and then dip into Buddha, Cheshire Cat, and Dude Ranch before continuing onto Neighborhoods Dogs Eating Dogs, California/Deluxe which you could separate as a two parter, Nine, and One More Time
They spent a year making this album based on something Travis said: "Let's just make an album like it's our first record. Just make whatever music we want to make." And they did. Maybe my fav album of all time. I always say you have to listen to the whole album, not just a song.
You should watch Blink perform "A Letter To Elise" live on MTV. Robert was watching and even gave the faintest smile that only Robert could give. Haha.
Haven't read thru the comments yet, but if it wasn't suggested you should look into the making of this album. I found it interesting. This album has a lot of the Boxcar Racer sound to it.
Fun fact, only Travis was allowed to kiss Sophie Monk, none of their wife’s allowed them except Travis’s at the time because she was an actress and knew it was for film. 36:11
If you watch the documentary of the recording process of this album you will understand better everything. It's is magical if you love blink and this album. Robert Smith said the same you told about blink and his band so you get the point only listening the albums, amazing. The next you should react is +44 and you'll conclude the etape of jerry Finn with this guys (boxcar racer was also with him). That man was magic too. Take care man
I'd be pretty curious to find out what you think of Angels and Airwaves. It's quite different from Blink but has a, at least to me, unique sound. Their first album or I, Empire are both good listens imo
The album booklet explains every song in this album it has an explanation something like Stockholm syndrome it's a letter that the grandfather of Mark wrote to the grandmother when he was in war
What’s wild is I got the album. I think I read in the book that Travis Barker he dedicated the song “I Miss You” to his mother at the time was deceased.
As deep as their catalog is, this is easily their crown jewel. The b-sides don't get nearly the attention, obvious, violence, stockholm syndrome. Really takes me back.
This whole album is very experimental. Blink changes their sound and explores a lot of different ideas in this album and they crush it which has made this album a timeless classic!
i dont believe theres another band travis would have shown as much tom basically based his writing style around travis drums alterring his simplistic riffs to suit travis drums and adding depth to his riffs
If I can recommend while it's not the same as this Dogs Eating Dogs was a really good EP they released after Neighborhoods and at the time to me felt like a return to form from the self titled era
@@91Definite as I've gotten older compared to when I first heard neighborhoods I actually like the album more now than I did This is Home, Wishing Well, MH 4.18.2011, and Kaleidoscope all resonate with me more now
Right I think one of the songs one of the members grandmothers had letters of their grandfather from the army or something and I think one of those songs was “Stockholm Syndrome”
this record is forever. Untitled is goated. Check out When your heart stops beating by +44 which is another side project by Travis Barker aND Mark Hoppus
Dogs eating dogs and one more time! Wasn’t huge on neighborhoods ( it had some good tunes) And the stuff with skiba had a few good songs, but it didn’t feel like blink.
Everyone a hater till they actually hear blink
yep
It’s because alls they’ve heard is the radio hits , and as a hardcore blink fan , I can’t stand their radio hits. I hate them
@@Atticus1agsame
aint that the truth
@@Atticus1ag except for Dammit! That's my 2nd favorite song from them after Carousel. It's a banger!
dude PLEASE do dude ranch reaction, was before enema when they were still more skate punk, that album is a master piece
Agreed bra. Dude Ranch is even better than Enema. Not sure how but it is.
Agreed
Not sure if anybody commented this but, the Stockholm Syndrome interlude was a letter written from Mark's grandfather, to his grandmother during WW II
After "I Miss You" he says they have a Cure vibe or something... I giggled knowing what's coming up on "All of This".
Hey! You did it! I requested it in the live stream!!!!!
When stating I miss you isn't punk. The fact that a punk band made a song that wasn't punk, is the very epitome of punk. Bravo blink.
Now you have to react do neighborhoods album 😂
38:58 Sophie Monk is an Australian singer, actress, television personality, and model. She was a member of the pop girl group Bardot,
She also used to date Benji Madden from Good Charlotte.
Of course she was an Aussie she's a knockout 😂
She’s the Presenter of Love Island Australia now
You should definitely react to angels and airwaves, We Don’t Need to Whisper and I Empire are some really good albums I recommend from them.

There are basicly two kinds people in this world. Blink 182 fans or people who only saw All the small things or whats my age again and hate them 😂
I'm a blink fan and I hate all the small things lol

I will say this. This album took a while to grow on many blink diehards. Now it’s often looked back on as their best.

Check +44, Mark and Travis project. It's only one album. It's close to this era
easily blink's best work. it's so distinct from what they did before and was a massive influence on the burgeoning emo genre
appreciate it for what it is but far and away from their best work
favorite album of all time right here. A masterpiece with Stockholm Syndrome being an absolute favorite

I spent the last two hours watching your vids. One of which I'd already seen before. Great stuff
I adore blink 182 because every album of their's is so incredibly different sounding, while maintaining their vibe.
Angels and airwaves love pt1&2 albums are one kf the reasons im still alive after i lost 2 of my kids.

Awesome dude. Now you need to listen to Plus 44 !! Is a side project with Mark and Travis.
Ava First 😂
The interlude is a letter from Mark's grandma who's husband was in ww2
Gotta listen to Dude Ranch and Cheshire Cat before moving on imo theyre both gems
Am I the only one who just realized after all these years that Terry Crews was in the Down video? 😂
I always knew Terry Crews was in the “Down” joint

Violence is one of my favourite Blink songs. So good
MTV Icon 2003. The Cure edition. Blink-182 played "A Letter to Elise" at that event.
Violence was my all time favorite from this album when it came out and is the track that sold my on buying the CD. So good.
Stockholm Syndrome Interlude was a letter written by Mark's grandfather sent to his wife during WWII. It's being read by Joanne Whalley
20 years later I find out wtf that was. Wish i knew at the time

The Stockholm Interlude are excerpts from letters Mark's Grandfather wrote to his Grandmother during WW2
I remember that! So it was Marks grandfather writing to his grandmother with the letters from the war 💯!
Now its the time for the letter Mark wrote to Tom, known as +44
Especially on the track "No, It Isn't." It was Mark and Travis's response to "Start the Machine" by Angels & Airwaves.
