  • We're on the road again at one of the oldest riding scale railroad clubs in the country, Pioneer Valley Live Steamers in Southwick, MA, for their 70th anniversary meet. Lots of action on the dual gauge (3-1/2" and 4-3/4" gauge) high line and some decent action on the 7-1/4" gauge on the ground.
    Sadly, the 70 fell out of the back of the Jeep when we were getting ready to unload it at home after the meet. There'll be video of the cleanup coming.

    That backyard railroad is a year older than I am and sure looks well put together for those who visit or run trains. Thanks for taking us along bro. Safe travels.

    It's really nice to see you and your rolling stock visiting other railroads and another model engineers with their engines but such huge club layouts don't have that climate of the Mill Brook or Shady Pines RRs... Including shunting and derailments 😜

    What an entertaining and first class video! Also would love to see you walk and discuss where the expansion will go on your railroad. We saw the walks before but did I miss where we saw how it would all tie together? Thanks for the great content!

      I think we can. The frame took a really hard hit but the wooden body took the brunt of the impact. There's something to be said for splinter zones.

    Great video, and nice to take a train ride around the park!, however, in the video, around 42 minutes, the engine with the camera on the right side shows the right side firebox seam open up !!, you can see the burning embers and the flexing of the firebox itself!!, don't know if the engine owner is aware of this!!!, yikes 😬!!

    • @MillBrookRailroad
      @MillBrookRailroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the crack between the bottom of the grates and the top of the ash pan you're looking at. The engine is nearly 80 years old.

    • @MillBrookRailroad
      @MillBrookRailroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are 3/4" scale (3-1/2" gauge) and 1" scale (4-3/4" gauge)

    Has the layout basically stayed the same over time-I’m guessing it’s been added to and changed in 70 years; is there any part still on the original layout?
    Also at 26:12: I noticed the bridge to the right has tracks on it but not leading to or away from it; is it now a footbridge, and was it part of a now-gone layout?

    • @MillBrookRailroad
      @MillBrookRailroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      There have been additions and adjustments over the years. The newest line was added in the 90's and realigned this year. The empty bridge was replaced by the trestle next to it to straighten out a tight s curve.
      There was a broader gauge line at first. 15" gauge, I think. It was removed in their most major rebuild that resulted in the oval of 7-1/4" gauge around the high line and storage facilities.

    I am really surprised some of those little trains can pull so many people or 2 or 3 morbidly obese people. Some of them so big I am sure they needed to use a scooter to get to the train they got on. Is the majority of Americans really this fat and huge in America today? It is really unreal, isn’t it.

    • @MillBrookRailroad
      @MillBrookRailroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The trains will carry real tonnage. I do it all winter long, carrying freight with some of the smallest locomotives. Your comments about obese people is what's surprising. We don't talk about people like that here. It is unkind and uncalled for.
