10:10 in case you didn´t notice, they never played the original Bad Batch theme during the entire season except in episode 1 and this one, only when they were all together.
Also, during an interview, it was confirmed that Crosshair´s chip was removed (probably it was after he burned his head)
Their theme is also heard in the mid season episode "reunion"
It's believed that Crosshair had his chip was removed after he got burned by the ion engine because after that point he became more interested in capturing the batch than straight up killing them.
That what I was thinking as well it could of gotten burned out of his head.
I believe it was ep3 when he was getting surgery, and that would have been not long after they first left him

Yep. Also he had howzer arrested instead of executed, which he 100% would have done had he still had the chip inside
Why would Empire do that risky operation when he was already in bad condition?
My favorite use of the Bad Batch theme is that moment when the BB and Crosshair are once again fighting together against the training droids

Exactly, they never even made an attempt to get him back and try to remove the chip.
I mean kinda hard when he’s trying to kill him and he’s surrounded by the empire. It’s one thing to save someone who wants to be saved but can’t save someone who doesn’t wanna be saved
@@ItsAPrimatee Don't get me wrong, I understand why they didn't go on a rescue mission. I mean even if they had experience with taking unwilling targets prisoner, Crosshair would be too dangerous to be worth the risk (even if they probably could pull it off). But the fact that they didn't even try had to have deeply hurt him, even if he understood why they didn't.
Also Bad Batch season 2 coming on January 4th, so pretty hype about that.

Imagine how hard that was for the clones in those republic venators to reign fire on their home. Also the visuals for that part are crazy
They were probably replaced on the bridges and guns by TK recruits for this mission.
The recruitment of normal humans to replace the clones is brilliant - it forces a "support the troops" mentality to worlds and families with loved ones serving.

Goddamn I love the music during Empty Kamino sooo much. Those scenes just hit so hard and Kevin Kiner absolutely killed it.
I do believe Crosshair's chip is gone for a few reasons. First, he's acting differently in this episode than before. Back in the first episode and when they're on the junk planet in episode 8, he's not this conversational and is more focused on killing them, when we know he has the chip. Wrecker is the exact same way when his chip activates too. Here, he's more focused on trying to recruit them into the Empire and is a lot more talkative. Second, it would make sense if when he got burned by the Venator engine, it damaged his chip and they had to remove it because that burn scar is on the same side of his head as the chip. And, as you've mentioned before, he's always been kind of like this even before Order 66. Plus it makes for a more interesting story. Now their solution to trying to bring him back isn't as simple as capturing him and removing the chip. Now they have to actually persuade him and genuinely change his mind because he genuinely believes in the Empire
They even confirmed in an interview that it was true for these reasons. They didn’t confirm when, just that there’s a point where he noticably acts different than when he was chipped
Plus, having the chip still being in his head would really undermine the dramatic tone of the scene where he reveals the chip was taken out and that he is choosing to stay with the Empire
Yep. Also the fact that after getting burned crosshair clearly changed from trying to kill the team to more just capturing them. He also arrested howzer instead of killing him, which he would’ve done for sure.
Definitely the Crosshair had the chip removed after being burned by the engine.

Hunter as a leader should give him a chance. As you can see from previous episodes of Bad Bach, they have disassociated themselves from Crossher. From what Wrecker sometimes says, he doesn't treat him as a brother, but as an enemy.
Bad Bach never left each other. There was no episode about trying to save Crosshair. They were running away from him, so they treated him as a threat, not as an ally who needed help. If it wasn't for Rex, it's possible that Wrecker would have been treated similarly and abandoned.
The truth is that in season 1, Crosshair, after removing Chip, showed what Hunter was unable to show all season. Loyalty to your team
I totally understand why Crosshair would be hurt and feel abandoned, but to be fair they didn't really have a chance to rescue him for a while. They either didn't know we're he was most of the time, not to mention being with the empire that is hostile to them. Especially since Crosshair is in command surrounded by other troopers at all times
@@memelord7567 I think it was more about Hunter not trying. And Crosshair is the commander, meaning Hunter doesn't trust him and purposely doesn't want to help him because he doesn't want to put others at risk, and that's the truth.
Croshair logic
Since Bad Bach always left no one behind, Croshair might have thought Hunter had betrayed him. Everyone has always risked their lives to get the whole squad back from missions now he's been abandoned so the rest can live so his life is worth nothing to Hunter.

I believe it was the beginning of episode 2 or 3 when he was getting that surgery is when he got his chip taken out, and that would have been right after they first left him behind.General Rampart and Tarkin were talking about how they will see if he stays loyal now.
Yeah, after he comes out of the bed you see him touch the back of his head were the chip would of been. That was the clue that he had his chip removed (or at lest made to believe it was removed).

This was important because it showed that people don't just do evil/wrong because they're controlled, but that they choose to
since episode 1 we then dont hear the bad batch theme until they are all together and fighting again, loved that detail

Losing Camino is a painful loss. The home that our clones came from is no more. Also, pretty sure when the Bad Batch was captured in that cell early on, when they took crosshair, thats when Tarkin removed his chip. As he said, those who willingly join the Empire are far better.
This is the episode that made me a fan for life! It was so deep! Brotherhood…parenthood…this series brought the emotions out of me… tough days create strong men! This 1 was tough!

Tbf wrecker also tried to kill bad batch when his chip went off and the group still helped him. Could''ve done the same for crosshair
He wasn’t with the empire they were isolated and knew about the chip at that point, not the same imo.
There was (I think at least) 15 incubation pods in Nala Se's lab, and an empty space where a *_16th one_* would be 🤔🤯! I think that empty space belongs to the fifth enhanced clone that was mentioned at the premiere of the series 🤔🤯!
It was in episode 2 because there’s a scene where he is in the hospital and they talked about his operation, this is despite the fact he already got activated last episode, watch Primates reaction to the episode it was there
Homie doesn’t want to believe the chip is out. Crosshair is just a hardliner. Nothing more complicated than that.
I assume his chip was removed after he got blasted by the engine. Before the episode came out I thought maybe it got damaged or was losing its effectiveness because he had a change in behaviour.
Before he was completely fine with executing unarmed civilians, he did not hesitate to straight up shoot the guy that disobeyed that order, he told his troopers to aim for the kid and he definitely tried to kill the batch. After that though he's trying to capture them and instead of shooting Howzer on the spot he actually arrests him and the others. He even tells Hunter he's putting Omega in danger by having her with them. That's literally the polar opposite of the last time he mentioned her
Remember that Tarkin ordered those experiments on Crosshair....
I think they did some behavioral modifications AFTER removing his chip to see how controllable the clones could be.
But he's also all about the soldier life. It's literally all he's ever known and free will mist be a scary thing.

Seeing clones actively disagreeing with Order 66 is cool.
But i think Crosshair trying to convince them once more to join him proves his chip is gone.
As some have commented... Order 66 clones with the chips were ready and willing to kill anyone resisting or against the order.
My guess is Crosshair stayed with the Empire because he probably believes there's no escape from them. He doesn't want to hunt down the BB anymore to kill them. He probably wanted them to join him because he doesn't want to see them actually get killed by other Imperials.
I like to think he had it removed super early on and all of this has been him doing. Makes it more tragic and interesting, and shows how some Clones can choose to be with the Empire when given a choice.
I completely lost it at the end of this episode, just sobbing.
The destruction of Kamino always hits hard. The only home the Clones had. The Empire didn't have too but they did. Because that's how the Empire is.

Crosshair might not have his chip anymore, but he could still be effected by the over-clocking of the chip that Tarkin had ordered.

A compelling episode that really puts things into perspective
For me bad batch was rlly good. Apart from 2 or 3 episodes they were mostly bangers. Tho i kinda had hoped we’d have more focus on the team doing more direct missions rather than some of the random stuff we got
Remeber like wrecker he had no control.
Yes he was trying to kill them but that wasnt him and im willing to bet he was screaming for help while his chip was making him shoot.
Look at how fast they came back to save hunter and look how long it took them for crosshair thats why he felt betrayed and replaced.

I figure he had it removed sometime between episode 8 (where they _told him_ he had a chip in his head) and episode 11 when he turned up the next time. On Bracca he went "aim for the kid" and tried to incinerate his brothers, on Ryloth he had Howser arrested instead of killing him and missed his shot when the Batch left in the senator's shuttle. There is a difference in his behavior there.
I enjoyed basically everything of star wars. The Solo movie was the only one I didn't enjoy as much as the rest, but I've never seen anything "bad" in star wars where I would say that I wish I haven't seen it.
I really hope that Crosshair hasn't had his chip removed. It would really cheapen his struggle against the programming and his personal character development for me. It makes total sense for Crosshair to lie about his chip, just think about how embarrassed he must be that it controlled him and not his 'brothers', especially someone like Wrecker (as far as he knows).
Do we really think that Crosshair would choose to side with the 'Regs' over his unique, superior squad? From the first time we're introduced to him he constantly talks down about them, considering him and his squad as vastly superior.
His ability to overcome the programming and act against it will show how mentally tough he will become. There are very few Clones that disobey Order 66; most that weren't effected either had some damage or flat out didn't get given the Order 66 command. Maybe Crosshair's resistance to the chip will be the final nail in the coffin for the Empire to stop using Clone Troopers.

THEY really werent loyal to crosshair. Back when he had a chip. They didnt even try to kidnap him. Thats crazy when you think about it i understand why he didnt return honestly i would have felt betrayed too. It wasnt his fault and later he chose this live because he had no other option, his friends abandoned him, and even here they act graciously but they arent here for him…
This show was fine to me. I loved the premiere. I liked the cad bane stuff. I liked the last 2 episodes as well but all around, too much filler. Every now and then i look back on clone wars arcs like Umbara or Maul and i remember how bad batch hasnt been close to that quality

@@ghosttwoalpha yes i know that im just saying this season never reached those highs. In tcw s5 you have 12 fine episodes and 8 amazing. In tbb s1 you have maybe 2 or 3 eps that are just kind of solid.
@@ikoandreas5085 This first season of Bad Batch is still way better than Clone Wars season 1, and I love Clone Wars, but that first season is rough. Also better than the first season of Rebels. These shows tend to start off with a lot of filler and gradually get better, so I still have high hopes for the show. Even the filler in this show is better than the early Clone Wars filler. For staters, no Jar Jar.
@@ElCactus7567 yeah its just that those shows, first off were cartoon network shows and had to follow a certain quota of episodes, content and length leading to some more filler. And with 11 seasons of tv Dave Filoni should now know better what sticks and doesnt
The worst part is the whole season 1 is about rescuing missions. And saying that Crosshair was trying to kill TBB, in fact, such a poor excuse for them not even TRYING to help him, not even TALKING about possibility of that. Hell, they barely remembered about his existence during the whole S1. It's uncomfortable true, but it's true. And it doesn't really matter if he had his chip, or not. They left him in the hands of the enemy (Empire) multiple times and continue to live as a happy family like nothing bad happened. If this isn't a betrayal, I don't know what is.
And all this victimblaming stuff in the fandom and even in the creators team... Geez.
Even more sad that the scum had the clone troopers fire on their own home until it sinks

I guess it's a matter of perspective. You kept saying, _"What were they supposed to do, you were trying to kill them!"_ As if it was _Crosshair_ that suddenly turned on the group. But as I see it, he was following orders. The rest of the team broke away. That was the catalyst. _Crosshair_ wouldn't have had to shoot them if they hadn't suddenly turned against the Empire.

*EDIT:* I also believe _Crosshair's_ chip is gone. I think if it had been left in, the audience would have been given some clue the chip is in. Even if that is in the form of having the team not believe that it's gone, and wanting to get him to a med bay to prove it.

I thought this show was alright. I will keep watching it, but I’m not as excited for each episode as I was for Clone Wars or Rebels, though that could change. It’s miles better than Resistance.
Who thinks Bad Batch is the worst? I've not encountered anyone who's said that.

Bad Batch season 1 is way better than Clone Wars Season 1 and Rebels Season 1, so I don't understand why people would complain about it. I mean, I'm not saying its a perfect show, but this is just the first season, and its already more well put together than the other Animated shows. Also, each one of those shows got better with each season, so I have high hopes for future seasons of this show.

I remember seeing this a year ago or so. Those last shots of Kamino made me cry, literally. Out of the 16 episodes there are only 5 or 6 I wouldnt mind to rewatch. The others are a little bit... meh. Overall this is an okey series, like 6/10. Better than Boba Fett and Kenobi. Not even close to Clone Wars or Mandalorian.
