Infact its not only the ships location that shows up it is considered relative to where ordiance drops, so as you move further away from the ship it doenst drop orbitals straight down they have an angle, which can result in missed shots due to cover. Keep relative positioning in mind when using orbitals
It's a Great detail, especially as you're basically never looking at your ships since you're constantly having your feet and feces tickled by both bots and bugs
I also want to point out the fact that even though this game has microtransactions, you do not have to purchase them because you can earn the premium currency in the game simply by progressing through the game's free Battle Pass, as well as just randomly finding the premium currency in random locations in each mission. Well done, Arrowhead. You made a game that has microtransactions, but they are 100% optional to still become a stronger player.
This. I saw the Super Store and the Battle Passes and immediately braced for nonsense. However, after my first few hours of gameplay I realized that not only was there no FOMO (literally got a tip during a drop screen that told me not to worry about completing the Battle Passes because they will never go away), but the majority of the good stuff is in the free pass and I can quite comfortably earn my way to the premium one. Best MTX practices I’ve seen since DRG.
its a really fair system. im rank 15 and have earned enough Super Credits just from playing the game to buy the 'premium battle pass' and an Armour+Helmet set. the CEO of Arrowhead said "you have to earn the right to monetise your game"
The mtx are also the cheapest ive ever seen, a helmet and armour cost like... A fiver? If that? The max size credit bundle is something like 20 quid. Thats usually the second cheapest option, here its the most expensive. The micro transactions are actually micro
And it's not a disrespectful amount of currency either. In a single mission, I've found up to 70 super credits, which is almost a quarter of the way to some of the most expensive armor pieces.
Honestly its a bit misunderstanding the devs intention for the game. First game was really difficult and devs want more or less the same for this one. So eventually this is a PvE game it's about having fun crowd will leave and "git gud" optimize everything or leave crowd will remain.
@@Botar48 This is one of the age old questions of online game balancing. @@Botar48 Now that I think about it, the way I would have built it is: - You have difficulties 1-6 as normal, and then 7-9 are under a whole separate "Special Operations" menu. - When you select Special Operations, the ambient lighting, music, and NPC dialogue in your ship changes, and it's made very clear that you're about to enter the "Sweat Zone". - There are no unique progression rewards or weapons/stratagems/armor perks gated behind special operations. - Instead, when in a Special Operation, you get extra medal rewards if you do side objectives, and the Super Credit spawns in the maps are better (Since it's supposed to be played by high-skilled high-leveled players, and Req/Exp/Samples are worthless to them anyway). - Maybe there could also be some cosmetic armor/weapon skins (for example, with a more rough, grizzled, non-uniform-standard "special operator" kind of vibe) that can only be earned in Special Operations.

Tip from lvl 32: If you have valuable samples on hand - drop them via drop menu (hold down on d-pad for PS5) in extraction zone. This drastically lowers your chance of losing them in some unreachable/bug infested place. Just take them from the ground during extraction
Sadly there are enough non democratic helldivers out there, that picking these samples up at the moment you drop them just to die seconds later in the incomming horde!

HD1 sort of had one: the tanto. It fired a short range beam that focused its energy into a point like 15-20ft in front of you (like halfway across the screen). It's basically a super long lightsaber and had some of the highest DPS in the game. Waiting for that thing to make its return, as well as the trident: the laser shottie that was a hallmark of high level play.
A couple updates on the game since the release of this video for those who are just now getting into the game: 1. Armor works now, and you feel decently durable in heavy armor. Not invincible, but durable. 2. The Breaker Shotgun has been nerfed. Not drastically nerfed, but it had its recoil increased and magazine size decreased, so it's harder to mag-dump the Breaker. 3. The first shotgun you can unlock in the basic battlepass, called the Punisher, received some good buffs and is either superior or on par with the Breaker now
IF you're running low on super credits and want to grab the extra like, 3-400 you need for the premium pass, run on medium. If the game can't spawn rare samples in game, those slots are often filled with medals, requisition slips(100), and super credits(pile is 10). Remember the Creek this game is so much fun and it really has a good player base behind it. I've played for around 50hrs at this point and I've only run into around 2 or 3... unfriendly people, not even toxic. I think the community is one of the best things about this game

Also the funniest/best part is that the devs started basically showing in-game the mechs and said hey y'all want the mechs? *Liberate this planet* *And it only took less than 24 hours*
The third bomber bay upgrade gives you an extra use of every bomber stratagem, including the 500kg bomb. Running Helldive Autamatons mission, my whole team be tossing those out like candy.
It's pretty true. I literally can't think of a thing they haven't f*cked up, bungled, or in the case of abhorrent human rights abuses, succeeded in pulling it off.
It was something Reagan said, after he helped defund several government agencies, and pushed an agenda cooked up by a corporate funded think-tank to strip out regulations and helped create the mess we have (trickle down economics), it was a self destructive statement crafted to help his handlers the means of convincing the masses of America to turn against thier own interests.
I think another thing that’s also made this game so good, is the connection between the community and the devs. This isn’t just the usual, “heys guys community patch after 6 months. Have a few maps and everything. Thanks for buying our game”. Instead the guys at Arrowhead are literally following the community’s own story while helping to direct it like their own DnD campaign but letting the community in many ways inspire the direction too. From Malevalon Creek of the community lore alongside the devs fully embracing the fact of it becoming Space Nam for its players. To having a literal “bad guy” Helldiver “who breaks the rules on purpose” To even just joking with the community on their own pages and subs and everything, actually getting involved in real time with the community and its feed back while also just as much having fun with the game and concept. And yes I can’t wait to have NPCs spawning in. If we get NPC strats I’m literally going to turn myself into an air cavalry landing officer just throwing out beacons and spawning waves of boys to serve super earth.
Yeah that player optimization really resonated with me, like let people enjoy what they want, The amount of times I was kicked for not running some meta is just dumb.
I love everything you said about the game, PLUS the whole shared campaign feeling it has for the whole playerbase, with missions given to save or capture a random planet each time. it gives you the feeling of being part of a greater expedition even when you play by yourself or with a couple of friends. i hope servers and technical issues will be fixed, but even if they dont, its a hell of a ride
While everyone else says this is Starship Troopers or Warhammer inspired. Has anyone heard of Lost Planet? Lost Planet 2 to be exact. LP2 can be played solo with 3 AI or up to 4 players coop. You die in this game.... A LOT. While dealing with hordes of "Akrids" aka giant bugs and sometimes humans. I remember when someone had to enter the mouth of this one giant bug to destroy its insides while the other 3 try to destroy the glowing globules on it. Another mission is on a train getting chased by this giant worm bug that you had to cooperate with your team to destroy the weakpoints then run to the front of the train because it's eating the back. The Akrids are also used as energy source due to the thermal energy these bugs store in their bodies.
As soon as I started playing Helldivers 2 I felt the Lethal Company vibe as well. Except instead of it going from fun with friends -> horror movie, it's fun with friends -> action movie. Where you can be loading up an artillery piece and knocking each other over for a laugh, then 5 minutes later you're diving into a trench, down to your sidearm as you're trying to desperately call in a resupply, reinforcements, and whatever stratagems you can to try and get some breathing room, or scrounging for ammo so that you can reload someone elses recoilless rifle and save yourself from the chargers barrelling down on you. Also, I played tons of Helldivers 1 and I love that this game is so unashamedly a sequel. Not the usual "Oh lets try and broaden our appeal by taking out the unique parts" like what Resident Evil did with 6, it retains all it's weird unique Helldivers charm. Things like the turrets not caring about friendlies, and going prone making them not shoot you, was something necessary in Helldivers 1 as the top-down perspective meant you can't really leave it's firing line. But they still kept it in this one despite it definitely being possible to make them not friendly fire. Most of the weapons are direct rips of the ones from the first game, with even the same names. Even the new patriot exosuit (which I saw Bricky on twitter lament that they added just as he finished this video, lol) is something that was originally in Helldivers 1. It wouldn't surprise me if you could just read the Helldivers 1 stratagems and know that at least half of them will get added to Helldivers 2 eventually.
I think the voice acting team did an amazing job that a lot of people gloss over usually. If you have used the flamethrower and gotten lit on fire (yes you did don't lie you shot it at the charger and he splattered your now flaming ass across a rock) the sounds of your character in pain genuinely sells it, that shit sounds fucking painful. Same when your character is panicking cuz of an injury or lack or meth-I mean stims.
Best part is when you have a Stalwart and just hold down the trigger, your character starts laughing maniacally while hosing down the enemies with bullets.
16:19 This is what this game reminds me of. Firefall. It was just the same way with enemies, the problem with public events was being overrun, not overpowered.

Makes sense seeing as democracy's capital is located in a place formerly known as Sweden.
For your consideration: 500 KILLOGRAMS
In a single mission, I've found up to 70 super credits, which is almost a quarter of the way to some of the most expensive armor pieces.
consumer-friendly practices! we've been craving that since forever ago!
"The only thing you should be optimising is a path out of your house!" That got me. I laughed so hard I choked on my food.
@@4dragons632 I would like if they add some samole trade mechanic so causuals can have fun at difficulty 5-6 or lower while hardcore players keep on 7-9. Since most important samples drop at last three difficulties.
@@4dragons632 Yeah, I don't buy that their main goal for this whole project is to go back to being a super-niche 5k peak concurrent player count game, like the first one was.
It would be so counter to every industry standard that I kinda couldn't help but respect it if they did, but I feel like they would have designed certain things very differently from the get-go, and wouldn't have bothered to scale up the infrastructure, if that was the hill they wanted to die on.
@@Botar48 Now that I think about it, the way I would have built it is:
- You have difficulties 1-6 as normal, and then 7-9 are under a whole separate "Special Operations" menu.

A couple updates on the game since the release of this video for those who are just now getting into the game:
Also, the orange/white or blue/white cargo crates can be blown open with many weapons, including the slugger shotgun, while double doors have 3 drops.

Knew Raegans quote would be in here
It's pretty true.
To having a literal “bad guy” Helldiver “who breaks the rules on purpose”
To even just joking with the community on their own pages and subs and everything, actually getting involved in real time with the community and its feed back while also just as much having fun with the game and concept.
And yes I can’t wait to have NPCs spawning in. If we get NPC strats I’m literally going to turn myself into an air cavalry landing officer just throwing out beacons and spawning waves of boys to serve super earth.
