I watch a lot of guitar music and never leave a comment. However, I was sitting in the feed room of my horse barn when I stumbled upon this one. Without a thought I immediately reached up and removed my cap. As I listened, my memories raced back to the many times I heard my dear Mother play this song on our church piano and organ. I discovered Mr. Wooten on youtube a couple of years ago, and was instantly hooked on his style of playing. He was living proof, you don't have to have world acclaim to be great at what you do. He could have played on stage with any of the greats, and been right at home. I will miss new posts of his music, but will play the ones I have saved from time to time, when I want to hear true talent displayed for the world to enjoy. My sincere condolences to his family and friends, and RIP Sir!
So tastefully played! Jimmy always achieved excellent tone with his guitar of choice and never overplayed. 8 years full-time and a few more part-time I had the immense pleasure of drumming and singing with him. Gone too soon, I miss him.

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this. I’m no where near as an accomplished guitar player, but was able to pull enough from your video to play this at my dads services last fall (minus the key change). It was a beautiful day in a remote tiny cemetery next to the family farm in Iowa where my dad grew up. It was a special moment and beautiful setting amongst the rolling farmland hills and one I’ll keep with me.

Jimmy, I know this recording is from a long time back, but I just discovered it. I just lost my mom and played my guitar at her funeral. It was Amazing Grace, a Tommy Emanuel version, but a little less than what he normally does, due to the somber surroundings. My heart is out to you, my brother, in the loss of your Mom. I know it was years ago, but your memories of her are still fresh and your love for her remains strong. I enjoyed your playing of "How Great Thou Art". Very sincere and gracious, and from your heart. I know you made your Mom proud!
@@zoemaltese7661 That was Baylor. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge in June of this year. She was such a wonder family member and lived almost 14 years, which is twice the average age of Great Danes. We were so fortunate for her to have had us. Thanks again!
@@JimmyWooten After 13 years we lost our family member, May 2nd 2019 , Murphy my German Shepherd. He was so clever and handsome he cannot be replaced. I am so sad I can never have another dog. I never could go through parting again...sorry to hear of your loss too.

Thank you for posting this, it's beautiful! It's been here for a couple of days over two years and I've just now found it. I've been looking for a good version of How Great Thou Art to play that's not too difficult, well arranged and beautiful. That's what you have here and I am planning to learn it.
@@normanbyers-ND So sorry for this late reply. I thought I had replied back when I read your question. Again, I'm sorry. But, I used a Tascam DR-05. It's an inexpensive, handheld recorder. It records in stereo using built in mics that really work well with acoustic guitars. I've used it on several acoustic tunes. I did some mastering in my computer; I added some compression and reverb, but that's about it. The rest is all Tascam DR-05.
