I always grow my broad beans through winter in the uk british winters are pretty mild nowadays if you can get them through to spring i find there better than spring sown and no black fly either
That is a really great point about the blackfly. Our first time growing broad beans this early and here in France our weather is similar to yours. This is the first time we have sown beans at this time, but in the spring everything else is being sown. That leaves me little space for broad beans in the tunnel, putting them in the ground as seeds is a total win for the wildlife here. This will just give them a little headstart. Brian 🌱

Not saying it has been a wet year, but have had to trade the car in for an amphibious craft!!!🧜♀️🩵
