    I started wearing acuvue vita toric contacts lenses abt 3 years ago, I can see better than 20/20 with them. Never had issues with comfort either. My most recent rx is OD: -1.25, -0.75x140 & OS: +0.00, -0.75x040. Bc 8.6 dia 14.5. Could there he an explanation to why my right eye is much weaker than the left in the past 10 years? I struggle to read in my left eye sometimes but have good distance vision (a small amt of directional blur, more noticeable in tbe pm) but struggle see clearly past 2 feet in my right eye.

    Hello I see perfect but not good at night in which I been told that I have + .50 cylinder in my prescription. Should I only wear my glasses at night or all day.

  • @Odank
    @Odank ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great content! My question is if this new technology of profiling the eye and setting a Rx with the more nuanced results actually gets incorporated in the lens production in some way that an equivalent sph/cyl/axis would not normally or is it just a more accurate way to produce the resulting Rx? Would you be able to comment on your experience with someone need astigmatism correction looking through lenses with MORE cylinder than they really need? Would this be the same effect as someone overcompensating their - Sph with a higher value than they need (ex. -3 needed but looking through a -3.50 lens)?
    Thank you!

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      'Need' is difficult terminology, on a philosophical level. How do you determine the power someone 'needs'?
      The power required to achieve optimum acuity is probably a better barometer. And yes, iScription should in theory provide this over a subjective Rx because it is forcing the Px to have what is best (based on the above statement) rather than what they prefer subjectively (within reason),
      Finally, the resulting lenses are not only optimised with this more precise Rx but by factoring in pupil size and other data to re-optimise the lens design. It's quite complex and actually above my level of understanding.

    • @Odank
      @Odank ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thespectaclefactory Thanks for the detailed response! I would think iScription would, for example, be able to detect more fractional powers of cylinder required, as opposed to the manual cross-cyl exam steps of 0.25. So you mention that this data and other factors get incorporated in the actual lens design - so I presume that in this case, a Zeiss lab would etch out a unique piece of eyeglass for the patient as opposed to using say a stock single vision blank (also Zeiss)?

    I have recently had my eyes tested and received the prescription from optician, after receiving my glasses I decided to check the glasses via an online scanner tool to see if the scan tool prescription matched the test done by the optician. The SPH and CYL measurement from the scan tool were very close to my prescription however the AXIS measurement on the scan measured 140 on the right eye where as the the reading on my prescription showed the AXIS measurement of 140 on the left eye. I then proceded to check my previous glasses against my previous prescrption and the same thing happened , the AXIS reading on the scan tool appears on the opposite eye compared to the prescription. Can you explains why this is or is it possible my glasses are being made incorrect.

    • @MartinNeep
      @MartinNeep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those online scanners work quite well, but only with stock finished lenses. If you have a freeform lens or any kind of multifocal, it’s not reliable. If there’s any doubt about your prescription go to your optician. They can accurately verify your lenses using a focimeter in just a couple of minutes.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unless you have a reason not to trust your optician, I would expect they are far more reliable than online measuring tools.
      Of course it is always possible that a mistake was made. You should speak to your optician about it. Let me know what they say!

A cerrain conditon of the eye's cornea called KERATOCONUS can be one among other reasons, and a special kind of contact lens custom fitted for you will improve your vision (semi-hard or combination hard&soft). Astigmatism affects your vision no matter whether you look far away or up close....it is an additional part of a prescription that indicates you have double vision. The two parts of your prescription that indicate astigmatism are the cyl and axis. Cyl is the power for your astigmatism correction and the axis is the Degrees from 0-180 at which the cyl power is rotated
