Crippin’ had her Crip-Walking in Hell for her horrible singing.
Her voice was okay, not the greatest voice I've ever heard, but not the worst either. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. The tune she was singing was a rather charming one though.
Perhaps the real Mrs. Crippen's voice was worse, but in this day and age we won't know will we?

I only recently read a book about Crippen. In the end they spoke about the new DNA evidence and say it’s because lots of males handled the remains and crime scene without any precautions. Part of the remains were also shown to the jury, all men, apparently the same part which dna was tested on. From what I can remember, again the remains weren’t very protected and could have gotten contaminated.
It really is a case I’ve been interested in for years and still I’m not sure if he did it or not.

The narrator looks like Michael Caine & Prince Andrew combined . Very distracting

I just love these 18-19 century murder cases... The decadence and poise of those ol´time limeys is just magnificent... "Oh golly, a murder You say, well then, let´s have a cup of tea and we´ll discuss the matter. Do You use milk and sugar?" hehe... and btw fantastic acting, it puts me right there 100 years later!

Writer Erik Larsen, author of Devil in White City, wrote a non-fiction account of this case in his novel Thunderstruck. I highly recommended it.
The acting in this is so suberb I began to long for theatre. If only theatre wasn't so overpolitized here in Finland.

Why would Ethel disguise as a boy? She was much younger than Crippen, why not make the story more believable and board the ship as his “daughter”?
Because as his daughter she wouldn't have been able to share his cabin. Two men could share a cabin without drawing too much attention.
I read a book about Dr. Crippen. It was fascinating.
I thought in the end this guy was innocent of murder after later analysis. His circumstances were suspicious which is why he left

Yes, he made mistakes Before & After Cora's disappearance. Idiotic decisions. But that doesn't make him a murderer. Poor chap. Maybe he really was innocent.

The really sad part is that recent DNA tests have shown that wasn't his wife's body they found. Now people think his wife may have actually ran off but framed him for murder on the way out the door

@@Pauly421 it actually is this was 4 years before Kendall took command of the Empress of Ireland during the manhunt he was in command of the SS Monstrose the ship that Dr Crippen and his lover Le Neve were on. Also Kendall survived the sinking

It doesn’t matter at all to me that DNA testing on the remains from the basement weren’t Crippen’s wife....all that it tells me is that Crippen murdered someone else-a man-and had gotten away with it. After all, the remains found were wrapped in Crippen’s pajamas. It’s also important that his accomplice openly wore his wife’s jewelry and furs after the “disappearance,” which makes the fact of that murder obvious. So, the “mistake” made by the prosecution as regards the remains means that Crippen was held to account for that murder, at least, since his wife’s body was never found.
And how do you know his wife didn't frame him for murder and run off.
Kicking out your wife is different from murder. The point is, if she was killed, clearly not by him, her murder is still out there
How do you know he murdered someone else? If she framed him she could easily with help hide a dead body inside their home.
Be honest we all had a hard time feeling sorry for her 😐 😆

Fascinating story. Dr. Crippen committed a horrible crime but he was an abused spouse. Even today, male spousal abuse isn’t taken as seriously as abuse against women.
Sounds like he needed the Innocence Project.

She knew, she was wearing Cora's jewellery and living in her house, why would she agree to dress up in boys clothes? She never tried to defend him after she was acquitted, or tried to clear his name after he was found guilty.

Maybe Crippen murdered Cora/dumped HER body, murdered man nosing round too much & stowed HIM in house, then did runner to Canada. Cops not stupid/followed in faster boat/got to Canada first + shaving didn't hide his tell-tale eyes & Ethel didn't pass muster as boy: Fate's a Bitch!

She knew SOMETHING shady went down considering she was dressed as a boy in disguise on the ship ride to Quebec.
Though probably unintentional, Murder Maps' reenactment of the events really made Crippen feel like a sympathetic character and his wife seem like a narcissist with no time for her husband's wants and needs.

Yeah I'm not really concerned with how she was portrayed but the fact that people in the comments seem to think the fact that she was rude or didn't like her husband as good enough reason to kill her is very disturbing
@@emilykeane9544how a spouse treats their partner in public is usually much better than how they treat them in private. A man who is a victim of IPV has as much right to lethal self defense as a woman in the same situation.

I read the book "Thunderstruck," by Erik Larson, which weaves this story with that of Marconi's establishment of wireless telegraphy. Very well done. Here, however, I don't care for the "characters" in the show breaking the fourth wall. It's off-putting.
I also find it off-putting. But, they've only introduced it in these series. It was much nicer in the previous ones.

Crippen was innocent though, the body wasn't Cora, it wasn't even a woman.
If this doctor had been around at the same time as The Ripper he might have been looked at he had all the background they said the killer had but he was still in America at the time of the killings.
