I don't think I'll ever hear a more perfect version of this ...
This production reminds me of Julie Taymor's Titus movie. And this aria is my freaking jam. Love.
A beautiful rendition of a very under-rated aria. Bravo.
Une interprétation d'un baroque profond et d'une modernité charnelle qui me touche formidablement. Quel domm
age de ne pas en savoir plus sur cette mise en scène ultra décalée!
I love the sound of harpsichord since watching Hannibal
I simply love this masterpiece-version of Händels wonderful opera Giulio Cesare. The whole cast with Inger Dam-Nielsen and Andreas Scholl in front is amazing. -They are both two of the greatest operasingers in our time, and with perfect voices fore the barok repetoire. This version is made with a lot of humor - see the entire opera, if you can!.
By the way: Inger Dam-Nielsen is bald in this scene as Cleopatra, because it was standard in ancient Egypt to be bald under their wigs - if someone did not know.
brilliant!! gorgeous voice!
Perfect!! Wow
Que preciosidad de voz y de aria. Haendel es espectacular
I love the interpretations of Inger Dam-Jensen. She has a very "soulful" voice.
LA QUE MAS ME GUSTA DE TODAS LAS QUE ESCUCHE. BRAVO
What an incredibly beautiful aria.
beautifully sung. So plaintive and expressive. Absolutely love this aria. I get a whole new appreciation for Handel with this.
Oh, I fall in loved this song because of her.
My favorite song and singing.
tnx
beautiful singing!!!!!
The best!
Exquisite :-)
it makes me cry:(
Great voice!
Christian
Bald or not, her voice is A+, and she does a phenomenal job. It's such a hard aria to sing, despite seeming slow and easy. Handel's arias are like Mozart's: close to impossible, and none but the best succeed.
yeah, great voice! Never heard of her...
Очень красиво поет Ингер💖✨
By the way, it was the middle part of Piangerò, which was used in a scene in the "Hannibal".
Indded, she is very busy in Denmark, being part of the core ensemble of the Royal Danish Opera
Как можно согласиться участвовать в этом костюмированном маскараде . Поет прекрасно
Isn't it beautiful. I must admit that I almost wept when I watched this for the first time. It's a beautiful version. You should get a hold of Dame Joan Sutherland's version. It's pure perfection. She holds a note toward the end that drags every last breathe from your lungs.
Man, Billy Corgan was great in this!
lol....
WTH HAHAHAHAHA
She's not the tallest of women - and she's on her knees with "no" hair - on the side of a huge empty stage, singen a very minimalistically instrumented aria.
Brilliant!!
Inger sam jensen
I love this piece so much, but i can't really find how to pronounce my R's...
Libretto not included, only a synopsis of the plot.
I'm gonna try to upload some of the best arias, but then, I could post the whole thing.
Dam-Jensen is perfect in this role.
She has hair until she's let down by Tolomeo....
Well!
You don't get much better sung Handel than Inger Dam Jensen's.I want to buy this production on DVD,so am going through TH-cam t o see how I like it(as it is a modern production)I think I am getting used to it now.I wonder when someone will show this production to David McVicar.to prove that this is a DRAMATIC opera, and NOT a fairground sideshow/cabaret as he turned it into at Glyndebourne?
It just shows Handel and Modern CAN go together.
@stplace OH, good point! it´s a mix between those times, and... modern times? I mean for the clothes.
Can you please add the text into "further infos" for the video?
Does anyone know exactly the context in which they produced this Giulio Cesare?? I kind of get the middle east contemporary Egypt thing, but if anyone actually knows what it is, I would love to know! I adore this version, it's much easier to follow than Natalie Dessay's overwhelming amount of ornaments and strange word stress. Thanks for posting!
@MrSwifts31 THANK YOU!! I was disgusted and distrubed by the glyndebourne version. fairground is an understatement. every scene made me uncomfortable and then I turned it off. half way through act I.
Beautiful and queenly, some singers sound far too girlish in this part.
i just love it but i don't know who is this singer
somebody can help me
cleha bailly Inger Dam Jensen :) sorry this took 9 years.
2:33
Why bold??? is it her condition of slave? or it´s has to be with the production?
beautiful voice :) but 2:33 is the best: WAKE UP! :D grate
A beautifully sung version of this most beautiful of arias. But the director should have been fired. Still the singer triumphs over the absurdity of the production.
Beautiful piece of Handel, beautiful voice, beautiful singing, only shame about the haircut.
What is going on is that Tolomeo has stripped her of her dignity and removed her wig.
is she truly bald?
Must have been horrible for Palle (Achilla) to be lying there through the course of 3 arias and recitatives.
Great singing but such a horrible production! What is going on? I can barely watch it. Such a shame!
