  • Jon didn't start shooting clay targets competitively until he was 22 years old. 203,000 registered targets later he was able to win the US Open 8 times, was on the All American team 23 times and won 7 team gold medals shooting for Team USA. Jon was also the first inductee to the NSCA Hall of Fame in 1998 and shot on the PSCA for 2 years. After Jon's accident in 1989, he went on to win 40 straight tournaments that lasted about 13 months. He is definitely a legend in American sporting clays and is still coaching today. We were so glad to be able to talk with him and look forward to the next one.

Shot with Jon at caribou club MN state shoot many years ago. he was shooting a prelim by himself and I happened by after shooting fitasc and asked if he needed a trapper, he did so I trapped and scored for him. later that day I happened upon him again doing some event I was also shooting we we hooked on another squad and had a blast. I always remember one thing about Jon and it is is demeanor. You would not know by watching him if he was up 10 or down 10. Never saw him throw an empty shell, never heard or more importantly SAW anything other than class and a guy you can truly model yourself after for behavior. You could watch almost any shooter in the higher classes today and within 4-5 stations you will see frustrations and they wonder why lower class shooters only drift away once they start encountering these people that represent the sport. Good to hear you are still gettin' it done Jon.

Shot with Jon in Dubai. Great guy who encouraged the whole squad. I’m glad you had him on from a fellow wood butcher and looser of fingers😂!

Met Jon at the WesternRegional this year at Ben Avery, really enjoyed his targets and his passion with wood working.
