If you all are wondering, the Power Geyser has the same bullshit hitbox like that in KOF. You can have your anus grazed by a part of it and you'll eat the full thing. It's near IMPOSSIBLE to jump over.
Fun fact, despite sakurai claiming that Terry's up air is an original move made for smash, it bears a distinct resemblance to a move owned by one Kim Kaphwan from the Fatal Fury series, a good friend/somewhat rival of Terry's who is a mainstay of both the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series.
These videos are so great. I find them so enjoyable. I appreciate that you never waste our time you get to the point, while still talking in depth about the hitboxes. Keep it up!
For those of you FGC folks looking at how they ported over Terry to Smash, apparently the "technical" term for the FG version of invincibility frames in smash is "intangible". So whenever the guy says "intangible" he just means it's invincible and/or it has no hurtboxes. It took me a couple minutes to get a hang of their vernacular. It's odd they use that term considering Sakurai himself in his "How to Terry" vid literally said "invincible" when he described the Rising Tackle command input, which this video poster also called "intangible". I guess it goes to show Sakurai's a FG OG at heart. The spot dodge is a reference to KOF 94-96/98's "Extra Mode" AB dodge. It has full invincibility and the counter to it was grabs, not sure if grabs stop them in this game.
They really went and made made Terry the most badass character, huh? Also, can you imagine if Rising Tackle actually went that far? ALSO also, with all these intangible limbs, isn't Terry a swordfighter?
Spotdodge Attack isn’t Up Tilt, it just has the same animation. If you just hold A without tilting Up, it’ll still come out, and they don’t stale eachother. Oh, and it combos into Up Air, while Up Tilt doesn’t. No I’m not joking.
Probably the scariest thing if you play with smash meter... terry can cancel the 2nd part for buster wolf if it hits using his neutral, so effectively asking it so you experience the entire final smash after being hit with the semi grab attack
Interesting that the character Sakurai was gushing over the most is the one with the cleanest hitbox visuals. Maybe the Smash devs liked Terry as much as everyone did.
So just like Ryu and Ken the fighting game characters have hitboxes that try to match a realistic punch or kick. With nothing looking like they have a sword taped onto their limbs. Guess they didn't want another Smash 4 Ryu with Terry having disjointed moves that you can special cancel.
