VOLA is the band I show people who are not into metal at all to get them hooked by the melodies and used to heavy rhythms. For me personally, VOLA lacks aggression. Still, the intricate rhythms are great and interesting. They made a whole FREAKIN ALBUM with just ONE underlying rhythm and YOU JUST DON'T HEAR IT repeating because it is so well done. That is mastery at the craft of writing intricate music while still staying super palatable. Maybe too much so for my taste, but I have to admire their skill & taste.
this song is really special. to me, this song and castaway angels by Leprous are just something else. Very chill songs from bands that I first got into because they were heavy and they're so beautiful.
@@coreyclip1 I just discovered you and I'm checking out the channel, we have pretty similar tastes, so I wanted to ask you if you knew Caligula's Horse; I think you might like their latest album from this year, Charcoal Grace, they're one of my favourite bands!
@@Johnyl30 I just checked out Charcoal Grace a few days ago! I haven't made a highlight video yet but the full reaction is on my Patreon (link in description if you're interested 😁)
For something kinda sorta similar, if you haven't heard them, Leprous are a fantastic band worth checking. Similar prog vibes, different direction in sound I suppose but I figure they're in the same ballpark!
I recommended these guys when you reacted to Karmanjakah, I'm so glad you checked this out!!! The best band of all time to me, every single song they've put out is unbelievable and has something to take away from it. They balance soft and heavy melodies like no one else 🙏 I saw them live in LA this year and it was the best experience of my life so far. Definitely check out their discography, I think you would particularly appreciate Owls, Inmazes, and Applause of a Distant Crows, those ones make me cry as well :))
@@coreyclip1 Awesome!!! I know you don't do direct requests from TH-cam but I really think the song Inmazes would resonate with you, so even if it's not a video I recommend checking that one out on your own time :)
@@inthedream9127 I'll probably actually save it to check out in the context of the album. I got a patreon album tier request to listen to Applause of a Distant Crowd and I want to listen to Witness as well after hearing this, so I'll probably just check out their whole discography as soon as I can
@@coreyclip1 That sounds perfect!! Thank god for that person who suggested Applause of a Distant Crowd too 🙏Witness got them on the map but Applause is my favorite VOLA album and to me one of the 3 best albums ever written. It's less heavy overall but it's just so uplifting, optimistic, beautiful, melodic, inspiring.... 24 Light years is probably the song off of Witness that carries on that sound the best, so you already got a small taste :) You're gonna love it dude
Yeah, the album is amazing. So is their older one "Applause of a Distant Crowd" and "Inmazes". This band just doesn't miss. Okay, slightly with their newest one...but whatever. Still insanely good. If you get the chance to see them live just do it! 👀🙌🏼
I hate to agree, but I do. A lot of people love their newest album, but I really like Applause of a Distant Crowd, Inmazes, and Monsters a lot more. Both those albums and the EP I love every song, but on Witness I really only like 50% of the songs. I will say 24 light years is one of my favorite songs they ever created though.
An album I think you would love is Every Night Dreams by Your Hand In Mine. There's no singing but it conveys so many different emotions and vibes; one song can sound like a longing for love along with the acceptance that this longing is futile because of who you are as a person, and then the next song can sound like your sitting under a sunset forest reading a book. Its also very similar to Masstaden Under Vatten due to the lack of words, or words that can't be comprehended by a person who speaks a different language and how everything is used to convey the emotion and feeling of the music without beating you over the head and just letting you vibe. Sorry for rambling but this album is beautiful
This band amazing and super unique, a great blend of both old and new progressive metal. Edit: Also you have an incredible ear when it comes to picking up melodies and chords that personally blows me away. Do you have perfect pitch, or are you just that musically educated? Edit#2: I WOULD DO MANY ILLEGAL ACTS FOR AN ORCHESTRAL ARRANGEMENT OF MASSTADEN UNDER TATTEN, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.
I do have perfect pitch, yes. Although sometimes I wonder if my headphones filter audio weirdly cuz I noticed I kept playing one note wrong but I heard it differently when I was editing on my speaker... I'll definitely attempt orchestral måsstaden under vatten 😂
Welcome to VOLA🔥 your life will never be the same
I can feel it changing already...
I knew you were gonna love it!
can't wait for the whole album reaction
One of these days! Probably Friday cuz this is a super busy week for me

That's wild. Which album and where's the clearest case of that rhythm?
Which rhythm and which album?
Vola make beautiful melodies. Check out Ruby Pool and Green Screen Mother by them for similar-ish vibes as this song with just as beautiful melodies.
had the pleasure of seeing them live a few years back, never heard them before and fell in love instantly
I've listened to this one so much in the past couple of years and it still gives me chills.

If you haven't already, check out their piano version. Literal tears
Gotta check out the song Owls by them, it's one of my faves. Anyway good stuff man!
