Making a DIY V-brace that's actually functional for my E36 BMW

- In today's video, I make / retrofit a v-brace for my BMW e36 that's actually functional. I've seen lots of other people install v braces on their BMWs that aren't structural in any way, which is totally fine but not my cup of tea! I wanted to build a brace that actually supported the bumper/radiator, and provided some structure.

Hey bro, greetings from Romania. You have an awesome channel, keep up the good work even if you don't have a lot of subscribers now. I feel that this will blow up in a few years, cause there are a lot of E36 owners looking for this kind of content which is not really available elsewhere. I really like the way you're keeping it within a budget but still doing nice things. Watched a few videos and the first one was with the vanos repair kit and I plan on doing mine too. I ordered the Camshaft sensor OEM cause I got the error for it. First I bought an aftermarket one from Dephi but it just made it worse. Pro tip: if you wanna buy any sensor on this car, buy it OEM, even if it's 5 times more expensive. The issue with my car is that it's running perfectly fine when cold but when it gets hot it loses all the power until 4000rpm. I hope it will get better when I get the new OEM sensor. And speaking of Vanos, I'm not sure that I'll do it by my own as I do not have a garage and the tools that you have, and the quote for me would be around 200euro+the kit. Also, went to the Beisan website to order the kit but the shipping it's more expensive than the parts which is insane. Just started the project a month ago and I've done a lot of nice things, I want to keep it up. Mine's a M50B20 Sedan, as I do have another E88 which is a cabrio and I was not as brave as you to buy a 30year old ish cabrio. Anyhow, I subscribed and I'd be glad to buy a kit of V Braces for my E36. BTW, what's your engine? I suppose M52B28?

I did this on my E46 330i, I wrapped mine in yellow. People trip out on it all the time LOL I love it

Thanks! To install the metal plate at the top you'll just need to make some small "L" brackets to bolt to those two holes :) They're not quite right angles, so you might have to open them up 5-10 degrees. Does that answer your question?
I'm also working on a kit for this, so stay tuned if you'd like an easier DIY.
Nice job. Gives Dory a more imposing look from the front. Lighting was great on the garage / driveway too.. new camera? Any plans for increased induction noise?
Thanks so much - same camera, but new lens that stops down to f2 so LOTS more light let in + much better optics. And on the induction front, I’ve been on the hunt for a carbon dinan intake for a while so time will tell …

That’s so nice to hear!! Would love to create a kit, just working on growing the channel for the next month or two so that we can get a large enough group-buy to get these manufactured - that’ll keep it from being crazy expensive for buyers, I want it to be affordable for any e36 owner.

Dude that’s great news and absolutely i would. It would require drilling two holes in your bumper support, but otherwise would bolt right up. I’ll see what i can do…
