My 3 year old just looked at this video and told me she wants muscles like you. She then showed me her calves that are getting bigger. Thanks for being an inspiration that it's ok to be more and not less, stronger and not smaller. ❤
Dana, you are amazing! I just turned 60 years old, and for years I’ve wanted to build big beautiful muscles while losing the blubber. My husband is my biggest support and my coach who is in her 30’s. Is wonderful and keeps me on track. I’ve lost friendships due to my fitness goals. My close friend and I talk about it but we cannot discuss it in front of her husband because of his thoughts that women, especially our age of 60 shouldn’t lift. It’s crazy.. I do the InBody weigh in every two weeks, since June 6th when I recommitted to my goals, I have lost 6% bodyfat and have gained 7lb of muscle mass! I’m seeing changes in my physique, I have a long ways to go but it’s a wonderful journey. My 30 year old son is proud of me and encourages me to continue on. Love the 5 fitness tip! And I love your videos, you are truly an inspiration for the young in heart.
I'm so sorry about your friendships, but so glad you keep lifting despite it. We need more of us to make it more normal so those behind us don't experience the same thing :)
I started my fitness journey two years ago and my body, mind and outlook on life has changed completely, thank you for my personal trainer. The pointer five on this video made me cry because the people, family members, I thought would support me, where the ones to try to pull me down with name callings, accusations and blaming me for wasting money. It's shocking and disappointing! I went from 34% body fat to 17% and gain alot of muscle. Their negative comments made me stronger and taught me to stay focused on what matters to me and what makes me happy. My motto in my gym is: I am doing this for me... Thank you Dana!
Thank you for this! I needed the F- them pep talk. Turning 40 this year and I'm doing this alone. Today is the first day of the rest of my life!!! Thank you.
This video came just at the right moment. Thank you so much, I was contemplating if I wanted to start working on my fitness today or rather tomorrow. I am starting tonight☆
When I started my fitness journey, I had some sense of what I was doing. I started to develop muscles and felt bulky like is this even possible. Then I somehow started to see you in my new feed and suddenly you gave me confidence to not be ashamed of being built. So as time goal you have always been my inspiration and I thank you for that. 😁♥️
tav kye I started off by working on my upper body 3x a week. Did a lot of pushups, assistant pull ups, triceps chest press and all that. Took me a couple of months, but I was really consistent with it. Takes awhile because I would have to warm up my upper body to activate my muscles before I could get a good pump going.
In the first 5 minutes I've just figured out why my 5 year fitness journey has consistently failed my "why" has always been, to prove something about myself to other people.. which half the time I don't give a shit about doing this has definitely got me thinking!
Honestly, you are my inspiration. One of my friends who is a body builder got me onto your videos and your youtube channel and I cannot get enough. He is fully supportive of me getting "big" while losing weight (he calls it getting thiccc). I joined a gym yesterday and I have an appointment with a personal trainer on monday to set out my fitness goals. I want to lose weight, gain muscle, and gain tone. I basically want to look like I'm about to compete, but I have no interest in competing, I just want that body. I have always wanted that body. I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I am (as of right now) fully committed. I hate the way I look in the mirror right now, I hate myself. (that got a little too real at the end there) ANYWAY, I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I completely feel you. How did it go. I want the exact same results. I want to lose weight and gain muscle and I heard of you are a bit overweight it’s easier to gain muscle.
I so agree with the scale. Muscle weights more than fat. I was in the best shape of my life and weighed 173. I’m 5’7” and I am back at it again after being sidelined with some heath issues. I go by how I feel, how my clothes fit and how I look to my self. No one else’s opinion matters. I’m working on my personal best. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation.
I am so motivated, thank you so much. I'm ready to start my 5 steps thank you! thank you! thank you! I'm 64; WISH ME LUCK💪. I'm going to take a picture and then I'm going to send it to you and send you my 2 mth progress. You have motivated me! I'm new, glad I found you! 🙆
Thank you I’m a 53 yr old mom of 4 I’ve worked full time and work out 5-6 days a week, run a coaching business and I meal prep every week. I have competed in bodybuilding and there are really no excuses to not plan. When I competed I had people that thought I was weird and still make fun of me, but I look and feel amazing at 53. My goal is to put on muscle since I lost a ton of weight after my mom died in august. What is the best way to measure my muscle growth? Btw Thank you so much for this video esp. the last part about people not supporting you!!
Followed you and rob so long the goals I have set have been dead on. Next year will be the first time ever to step on a stage along my 600 pound journey. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and advice. God bless.
Thanks Dana. I really enjoyed listening to you. I started my fitness journey a while ago and I've done all of the things that you talked about in this video. It's so important to have a support system in place while you're trying to reach what ever goals you have set forth for yourself. My husband and our adult children are mine and it makes me feel good knowing I have there love and support. As for every one else, I could give a shit! If they don't like it to damn bad. I'm in my 50's which isn't always easy but I'm happy to say despite my age I'm gaining strength and endurance and I'm loving every minute of it! I look forward to more of these video's. Keep them coming. Also your a big motivating factor for me. I so admire you and what you have accomplished with your body. You look amazing!
I watched this this morning and it really helped me out because I feel really stuck right now. Yes I want to lose weight but this gave me the opportunity to figure out why. I've got some writing to do and thinking and more writing to do. I can do this I can lose body fat and gain muscle! Things for the tips!
Thank you for being a role model and inspiration. Women/girls all look different, and we should be able to do that without people commenting. Good luck with everything. Thank you for everything Dana. Love from Sweden
Thank you for this video...I just started my fitness journey and I love it....and your video has been so helpful in more ways than you know...❣you inspire me..💯🏋️♀️
I had no idea you were a teacher. This is such a well done video. I love it. Thank you. This applies to literally every goal in life. How inspiring. I’m going to watch it again and write it all down.
Great advice! Number 5 never ceases to amaze me. Here’s a suggestive gift in return for being a sincerely positive light that helps a lot of us on our fitness journeys (even a short vid that gets you to reset your head day to day and get after it helps). You two live in and around some the best fly fishing in the world ... if you haven’t already, give it a shot. I’ve been doing it for over 20 yrs and found that unplugging in crystal clear rivers and streams can do wonders for piece of mind. It’s part of my personal support system and a big part of the why I push to stay functional and fit.
My coaches from high school to college used the same concept in your video and I still use to this day. This concept helped me get a full ride scholarship in wrestling to 2 top notch wrestling schools.
Hi Dana, I have been following you since I was 20 and it’s been 13 years of me knowing you. Anytime I have felt low on life I work out and my phone is full of your inspiring pics and words. Thank you for existing and being there to inspire women to be ok to want to have muscles, motivating us and making us all proud. This video is pure gold for any beginner! 🙏🏻
These are great tips! My biggest challenge is staying away from sugar. I have a major sweet tooth but I’ve been working on it, using stevia on certain things to help out. ☺️
oooo78 Thank you...lol Yes sugar is an addiction, it’s like a drug. I’m getting a little better but it’s still hard. I know it’s more mental than anything and I’m not completely cutting out what I love, just eating everything in moderation!
@@nicolenicole001 they now have bars with almonds, coconut etc. And they are 0 sugar. Stevia. I put the chocolate chips in hot popcorn lol. Dark chocolate 0 sugar. Milk chocolate doesn't have the same ingredients.
Thanks for the good advise... the support system is so important. Here in asia, people still shun gals who want to build some muscles. My friends have been telling me I shouldn’t go so lean, build muscle etc.... it’s kinda demoralizing ... sometimes makes me hesitate like should I train harder or just maintain current shape... but end of day, I still wanna improve, I feel I can be even better than now.... for now, I get motivation only from the people in gym, those are the ones that encourage me, but I feel blessed because their encouragement does strengthen me, to be stronger both physically and mentally. And of course, watching your video also inspire me a lot :)
Obviously, these trolls have no clue what a "roid" female really looks like, DLB is nowhere near looking like a "freak." Her gains are all natural, it's very evident.
This is such a great resource. People always ask me my secret, etc, and now I can just point to this. This is 100% my journey, guided by an EXCELLENT personal trainer. Thank you for this! You’re my hero.
Hi Dana! I've only just found you maybe a month ago, but have been following you ever since. I really appreciate this video and wish that I had seen it when I started my training almost 3years ago. It's been a slow progression, but I love it and wouldn't change it for anything. But I think this really hits home and is valuable advice for anyone, wherever in life they decide to start. Keep up the great content!! Cheers
My support system is you and Rob! Bc that is true not everyone is going to support you. It’s sad, but true so I get on here watch your videos & Instagram watch you all. Soo motivating!! I use to be built so awesome , I was gaining so much money & people was like are you a trans ? Why you want to get big like a man , blah blah. Ugh made me so depressed I gained so much weight now of just fat. Now I look really gross to me I hate myself now. Thank you for this video tho! Setting goals and getting back to my body regardless of what people think!
Regarding number 5, JBP said it best: "every ideal is a judge". People who are aiming up will applaud you and people who are aiming down will manufacture explanations to diminish the cognitive dissonance they otherwise experience surrounding your success.
@18:00 those people are just haters or just insecure about themselves or the fact that your able to do something they can't whether lifting or just stepping outside the norm of society,. People often judge what they don't understand and there's nothing worse than a critic who's not even qualified to comment, besides we are our own greatest critic so as long as you stay in a positive mindset, don't be afraid to walk the path less traveled
Real facts!!! Thanks I'm starting back yet again on my quest into fitness. Overall to prove to myself that I can and will do it. I need to stay strong and healthy as a cook& future baker. Shit, I have over 30 year to complete before I retire and I know I want to be a very active person when I get to that age.
I really needed to see this today. I am so unhappy with the way I look and feel thank you Dana you helped me make my first baby steps. Ps I think you are so beautiful you and Rob are a beautiful couple
I actually like watching you and your crew, I just started lifting to get my body ready for a Transplant. I want to get healthier and do more. I've actually gained some weight and I couldn't ever gain any. But if we could ever have a Discussion on Proteins and pre workouts then that would be great, I can't use the same stuff you because I lost my kidneys. But hopefully we can talk about it in the future and fuck what everyone else thinks. Keep going for you and nobody else
Thank you for yet another great video, Dana. I really resonated with the last tip. A support system is so important! I have been lifting weights for over 40 years and I still lift. 40 years ago people were malicious with their comments and often were downright cruel. So I became a closet lifter. At the time I found it easier to hide my muscle than to put up with all the negativity from others. I still lift, but now I say F them, and show my muscles because I have earned them and I am proud of them.. They are a part of who I am. Lynda Jager, Timeless Fitness.
You are an inspiration and provide great tips and fitness exercises that are easy and do able. I wish you were here to train me. One of my goals is to compete in one of those muscle fitness competitions.
wondering about what protein supplement you would recommend. love all your stuff and look forward to any new stuff you might have on the way. thanks for the motivation.
I love DLB daily! I’m finally motivated after a year hiatus from the gym thanks to DLB daily and your TH-cam videos. Thanks so much for getting this 51 yo butt in gear to kill it again.❤️
Just caught this video! Thank you!! I am in need of losing weight . I really appreciate your good sound advise. I’m writing down the SMART and I’m going to sign up for your dlb daily!!!
Thank for the helpful tips, Dana are 100% percent right when it comes to judging. You just have to do what makes you happy and feel great, they are not living your life. I need a friend like you. Thanks again Dana your the best!!😊
Thanks for all you and Rob do. I was so motivated when I had the chance to meet you two in Houston back in 2019. I've started my journey but I have to start with my doctors guidance right now. However, I do have a lot g goal and short goals up to that final goal....hope to share another side by side with you and Rob in the future. Your both so down to earth inspiring
I'm so glad I found you yesterday by accident. You are such an inspiration! You are beautiful, AMAZING good looking and funny. I just want to say THANK YOU. You inspire and motivate me.
