Favorite drink of your choice
3/8th rachet wrench or cordless impact
3/8th torque wrench
15 mm socket
10 mm socket
13 mm socket
18 mm wrench for removing fuel lines
19 mm socket to remove wheel lug nuts and right front wheel from vehicle
15 mm wrench for distributor hold down
21 mm socket to be used to turn crank to top dead center (TDC)
A pair of channel lock pliers or locking type of pliers used to hold the fuel rail to prevent kinking

Great job! My 92 caddy has a nuisance stumble at idle that I can't figure out for the life of me. Smoothest motor in the world on the highway, yet it idles slightly roughly. I've done pretty much everything to no avail and didn't think it was a vacuum leak because I replaced all my lines, they hold vacuum with a pump, and my fuel trims are normal at idle. Well, today I learned that the type of air metering system on these cars (speed density system) doesn't reflect a vacuum leak in fuel trims, so I'm back at suspecting a vacuum leak.
By the way, regarding your distributor, I recently did my distributor by rebuilding a low mileage junkyard core! You can still get all the ACDelco electronic parts for the ignition system except for the harness, which gets extremely brittle (I used a harness out of an aftermarket unit, whose overall quality I was NOT impressed by) and then reused the gear to maintain the wear profile against the cam. I didn't want to use an aftermarket one because when an ignition module fails on these cars, they die with no prior symptoms and leave you coasting to the side of the freeway. OEM or nothing!
Thank you for the feedback. Greatly appreciated. Our cars doesn't have a mass air flow sensor. Hence the speed density system these 4.9's have. That is something I definitely want to do is rebuild my factory distributor with OEM parts. This is my second aftermarket distributor. The first one came from Advance Auto Parts/Carquest which was junk. And the current one is an Autozone unit. And it seems to holding pretty well. Very smooth idle, the power delivery is definitely there for sure.

24:54 A Genuine GM remanufactured alternator (PN 3212137) is for sale on RockAuto right now. $177 + $26 core charge! Just swapped my old junk Remy alternator (which didn't last for 2 years) for an old stock Genuine GM remanufactured unit. Couldn't be happier!
How hard was it to get that throttle body off? I tried taking my TPS sensor off an one the the torx bolts broke off so now i have to take the whole throttle body off to drill the broke bolt out 🙄
I gotta ask, where did you get this intake manifold gasket? I've ordered and had to send back FOUR because they arrived deteriorated.
Wanna do another one? I have the same problem with my caddy.

First off Thanks for making the Video! I have a 89 4.5 Intake gasket is barely leaking a tiny bit of antifreeze. Would I also have to take out rocket arms and push rods ? Engine looks the same other than I think my throttle body is the older style . Also I heard it's best to use " right stuff" silicone instead of the rubber gaskets . Have you had any leaks since you've replaced this ? Alao i aubbwd your channel .Again Ty and Godspeed
Good Morning, Thanks for the feedback. Yes the rocker arms and push rods come down. You definitely want to mark the position they came out of so everything will operate spot on. The throttle body is definitely different for sure. And I haven't had one leak since the install of the new gaskets. I have gained more power and pick up

That Northstar is a completely different beast. Your starter is mounted under the intake manifold
