    I am concerned about your steering alignment. Looks like the handlebars are not straight, nor is the steering yoke, which tells me forks are twisted. A good idea to fix it before it all comes apart on you. Could be the forks are twisted int he triple clamps from crash or whatever. You may be able to loosen off the triple clamps and get things back in alignment. If not, I wouldn’t ride it that way. I’ve been riding bikes since I was 15 and I’m 72 now. I own three bikes, one of which is a 95 NH. I had an02 NH as well. My bikes were tuned for speed and horsepower and both are pretty quick.
    Good luck, but please take a look at it.

    • @thatmendoguy
      @thatmendoguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the concern! You are right! This bike was a crash recovery, the forks were twisted a bit, I tried my best at aligning them for the short time that I owned the nighthawk. Sadly I got rid of it. Weirdly enough, that bike was still very stable at those speeds. Although I wouldn't let off the bars at any speed, that's where the wobbles came in. This bike is somewhere in NorCal still I believe.
      Thanks again!

  • @fouryearproductions
    @fouryearproductions ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I test rode a 91 and it felt like it really wanted to dive in corners while doing low speeds. This a sign of bent forks and is it fixable?

    • @thatmendoguy
      @thatmendoguy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Could be, but these bikes are heavy and weird with the weight. Diving seemed normal to me

    • @menom7
      @menom7 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the "diving" you mentioned,has nothing at all to do with twisted forks! These model bikes come from the factory with pretty "soft" springs in the front forks so that it doesn't take much for the front end to dive when braking or cornering heavy! I had the same problem with mine,but I fixed it by simply draining out the fork-oil in the front,and adding a heavier weight fork-oil! That keeps it from diving during braking. However,when riding in colder temps. the front suspension WILL be much stiffer due to the heavier oil in it! : >)

  • @talldrummer1
    @talldrummer1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You can untwist motorcycle forks the same as a bicycle. Put the front tire up next to a telephone pole on the side opposite the twist. Pull the handlebars toward the pole FIRMLY to reverse the twist. Easy peasey.
