I'm from Germany. We usually start with babyfood at around 6 months. At the beginning, we either feed something like parsnip or carrot puree or we do BLW and let them decide, what they want to eat (for example softly boiled vegetables or some bread). But it's uncommon to feed things like cheese before they reach their first birthday.

    • @elsbethfongers4476
      @elsbethfongers4476 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Same in The Netherlands. First some vegetables, than fruits. Later on bread and potatoes. Cheese somewhere between 10 and 18 months and in very small amounts because it contains a lot of salt.

Hello Maiko and Paolo! I'm from India. My mom told me these things.....I was fed on rice and rasam, a lentil based soup and shit ton of veggies and different types of spinach every single day! Usually for in between meals i was given yoghurt with brown sugar or mushed fruits with cerlac! I was told that I was weaned off breast milk very early (at 4 months) so I was a formula baby.... Also from age 1 to 5 I was fed hard boiled eggs every day! Obviously Indians start feeding food with spices from 8-10 months old!

In Germany we don´t feed cheese to babies. At least I never heard it haha. For breakfast kids his age normaly get rice/simolina/fruit or 7-corn mash with fruits. For meal you can either cook yourself - like mashed potatoes with all kinds of vegetables, rice or tiny noodles with sauce and little pieces of meat, or you can also buy those jars. At night it´s back to simolina or whatever mash with fruit.

The meals that Maiko is making looks very good. Looks like some of the stuff my wife makes. One difference was we fed her one foot for 1-2 days to see if there were any allergies first then combined more spices and ingredients in. This way you don’t have so many to eliminated for allergies. So I am from the US and my husband is from Brazil. We have an 8 month old who is a food fiend. I didn't want to do spoon fed blended food, so we jumped right in to regular foods she feeds herself. I did start with the softer, easier foods and worked my way up to harder foods though. Her first meal was peeled, steamed bell pepper, banana, kiwi, and whole wheat toast w/ a little peanut butter. Now she eats what we eat just without salt or sugar. My husband tells me its normal for babies to have rice and beans in Brazil, so the idea of feeding her other regular food wasn't too crazy for him. He also says they eat a lot of this toasted wheat and milk porridge. You get it in a tin and it looks like baby oatmeal. Just add milk. We gave some to baby, but it is too high in sugar, so she can't really have it yet, but I think it tasted great.

In Germany we usually start with mashed carrots and potatoes and gradually add some meat or fish and different kinds of vegetables one by one (lunch). As for dinner we usually start with porridge, after the lunch menu contains a certain variety of ingredients.

I live in Belgium, I breastfed my baby for the first 6 months. Then introduced fruits, vegetables, potatoes, rice and meat but no mince. Anything that I could make into a puree. My daughter still drank exclusively breastmilk until I went back to work when she was 8 months old. From then on she drank formula when she wasn't with me. I still let her drink from me whenever she wants, which is mainly before bedtime and at night. Around 7 months she started to eat bread (with crusts) spread with pureed fruit or butter (non-lactose). Now she's 1 year old, she has soft fruits and vegetables in little pieces but her meat is still pureed with vegetables because she hasn't got any teeth yet. I don't know where you heard about babies getting cheese. This is not the case in my country. My baby might have a little bit of yoghurt but the rest of her food is non-dairy. I hope this answer is what you were looking for. I liked your video.

You two make me laugh your so cute 🥰 I am Australian/Italian in my family we started feeding the babies at 3 months old with porridge made out of bread, water, sugar and some oil and some rice porridge. As they get older we feed them what we ate some mashed the other was for them to get their hands in to it and not forgetting toast with vegemite .Even now if one of the kids have a baby we do the some thing, you guys do a lot of preparation for your little man and that’s fantastic it’s nice to see what Japanese baby eats.Love your beautiful family ♥️from🇦🇺

I did much the same for my children . Good nutrition is important at any age , but even more so for children , as they literally growing their bodies and brains . I only used organic free range foods for them ( as much as I was able , anyway) and did batch cooking exactly like Maiko does . Yes, it took a little time and effort it so worth it. !
I totally agree with Maiko , giving them a variety of foods also helps educate their palate , and gets them used to eating a wide variety of foods .

Maiko is like a baby food top chef 👩🏼‍🍳. She could make a bunch of money in the U.S. selling that ice cube meal prep concept for busy parents. Like Paolo shared, I too was fed baby food from Gerber jars. However, there have been so many recalls on baby products (food included) throughout the U.S. and lawsuits recently that making your own baby's food is not only healthier, but safer.

Austria here: baby boy started with mashed pumpkin, parsnip, carrot. Then after that we started with potatoes mixed in and fruit mashed for snacks. Then sometimes added meat. We also used to make more abd freeze, like you do. We also added rapeseed oil in his meals so that fat soluble vitamins can be absorbed. Eggs and cheese were added later, when he could eat a little better with his hands. He still loves cheese ;-)
Wolfy is really lucky to have such a huge variety! looks great!

From Norway (in Europe). Here we start with oat porridge and veg/fruitbites. Any dairy (cheese/milk etc) from cow and rice is not used directly until baby is 1 year. That goes for any honey as well.

True, but we make the oat porrigde with some breast milk or baby formula, and a little bit of the regular food that adults eat but in mushed up form when around 10-12 months old without any seasoning. At least my family does that.

(US) Hi! Our son is one year. We started what's called baby lead weaning when he was 6 months. This method basically says we feed him everything we eat(I tone down spice for him a bit if we're eating something spicy and I don't salt his portion). We skipped puree completely and it's really nice because we can easily order off restaurant menus for him when we go to patios to eat.

I'm on the states & we chose to do something called Baby Led Weaning at 6 months. So she basically eats what we eat, with some modifications. Like no salt, it's cut a certain way, maybe veggies are steamed a little softer... Part of this is that she feeds herself as well. There are some occasions that we help her by loading her spoon but then we hand it to her & she feeds herself. Another important thing for BLW is eating with her. We all eat together, that way she can see what we're doing and try to do it herself.

Thank you that we can be a small part of your family. Our daughter is now 4.5y old and we live in Switzerland. In europe, specialy in Switzerland ;-) we have many different variation of chees. But is is not the number one ingredient for a baby. I am so happy to see, that your meals are so different and various asorted, healthy an colorfull! I wish i can do that with the same effort like your wife! For breakfast we eat more like bread with butter and jam and cereals with milk or youghurt. Most people eat a warm lunch and a cold dinner unless with guests, then it is mostly warm dinner.

Here in the eastern United States, we started off with grain cereal for breakfast and simple fruits around 4 months old. After that, we began introducing single-ingredient veggie purees, then around 8 months introduced variations on whatever we were eating at the table. Our son has tried everything, but his staples are oat cereal, shredded cheese, all sorts of veggies, tofu, and fish.

Those are for snacks, for her main meals she will eat what we eat, just chopped up super small. She will also have 3 to 4 formula bottles a day.
I was so impressed you guys made your own baby food.
