I use the same ladder system guys as I don't want peeps getting onto my rack....just remember to make a cushion or something to rest the ladder into the bodywork or it'll scratch the hell out of the van sides ...

Another great job guys looks awesome :) Be careful with your ladder, we have one similar and have noticed after repeated use that it has started to dent the side of the van where we have been leaning it up against the side. We have applied some foam pads to top so that when its leaning it spreads the load. a bit more.
Looks great. Using the pre-drilled holes must make it a lot easier (and less stressful) than drilling your own roof! Speaking of which, did I miss the skylight/fan being fitted?
Cheers Andy! Yes we didn’t film the skylight getting fitted, we also had snail vans do that as they fabricated a metal frame for the skylight so it’s fitted incredibly well!

Hmm, they don't do roof systems for fiat ducato based vehicles. A big problem I can see for the Merc van is if it gets damaged you have to strip out the interior to get to the fixings. The advantage of the fiat van is the bolts screw into pre-installed fixings from outside the van so you just undo the bolt on the roof and remove it. Looks a great bit of kit too, would have loved one in my van, hopefully they'll expand the range.
just thought you should make the solar panels tops for stoage boxes, i know its more work but long term trips need more supplies , just think u never regret having to much storage , make it from light weight mettle, will be light and make stealing ur solar panels harder

Hi, on seeing this video I realised that although I may not want a roof rack just now, unless I instal the tracks before I finish the insulation I won't ever be able to have a roof rack, so I sent to First Four to get the tracks. They arrived very promptly. However installing them wasn't too easy. What anyone thinking of getting them needs to check is : what length of track is being supplied and how long your van is, so that you can see how much of your roof will be covered by the tracks. I have a MWB Sprinter. This means there are 8 potential holes down each side of my roof to take the 2200mm tracks. The tracks are only 6 holes long. I thought of cutting each track in two so as to make the track area longer but this wouldn't work. In the end I have put one whole track on each side and have laid them toward the back of the van - part of the front area is occupied by the roof fan. I had quite fancied the idea of having a light bar across the front of the roof but with nowhere to attach it to, that won't be possible but hey 1 they are very expensive and 2 do I really need one - No! When you mark and match up where you need to drill the holes in your track to match where the holes are in your van roof, you will find that the holes in the soft cushion strip which lies between the track and your roof don't match up so you need to enlarge a couple with your Stanley knife. I have managed to fit these tracks but it wasn't particularly easy. I sounds easy and theoretically it is but I'd just say if you're going to do this, allow yourself plenty of time. I must admit however that all this is very new to me so I will be slower than most of you, perhaps, and I am enjoying it - being dead chuffed when it works out.

Lol, to be fair mate... I don't think anyone goes "woahh!" when a white van with a roof rack goes past. That being said, as someone who actually does appreciate van conversions, I would definitely notice the rack. Nice :-)

Pretty sure any thief could get up there in 30 seconds by going up the front of the van and over the windshield.
Don't forget to add some rear lights to the rear of the rack, you could even add some additional reversing lights up there too.
Roof top tent from FrontRunner is also a nice gadget. Especially in summer

I might be late mentioning this, but I would've used a tread locking liquid on all the bolts to keeps them from shaking loose.

You can take the roof rack off easily. It’s all done from the outside.

Make sure of course to save those premanufacted hole covers. Might have to disassemble the rack if you ever have ship you van in a container

20 litres would be 20kg, well within capability.
The problem is normal people don’t have £1800 + to spend on a roof rack you need to keep it real .

Telescoping ladder is nice. However, I would like it more if it had a hook or something to put over roof rack to keep it from falling over.

From all manufactures there is a max weight to put on the roof from 150kg, i know it because my dayjob is place almost daily roofracks.
