Downtown Flushing is busy and lively. There's no shortage of food options with all the food courts and restaurants in the area. 😋 It's still sad to hear about New Flushing Bakery closing, but I'm glad you were able to make a review of their egg tarts. 👍 Thank you for sharing this walk, AK! 🤗
Came upon your Borough Park video totally by chance, looked for your newest video and this is it--and it's AWESOME! Thanks for taking us on these wonderful walks, and giving the right amount of info and letting the neighborhoods speak for themselves. Bravo! Most importantly thanks for walking while filming and not using a camera that's "steady." I've been a paraplegic for 15 years now and I "felt" as if I were walking through the City again with this pov. Absolutely priceless!!! Guess I'll be binge watching your vids the rest of the weekend! 🙂
I learn so much from your video-walks, Action Kid. Thank you for what you do. Back in the 80s, I stayed at the Westbury Hotel on 69th & Madison. I was wondering if you'd be so kind as to start a video-walk from there sometime. Be well.
Another nice walk in Queens, Chinatown , and it was nice to see that cool Tangram Mall again 😎I agree its very impressive shopping mall, just by seeing it confirms me on that🙂Thank you for sharing this enjoyable and relaxing video A K🙂👍!!!
Thank you Ken for recording. I love these walks that you do. I have never been to NYC and it's always been on my bucket list to go there for the great Chinese foods that I see all the time on TH-cam. I'm from San Francisco. Saw that you were out here last year. Would have liked to met up with you. Please be mindful to pan SLOWLY (1:39) when moving the camera 180 degrees. Otherwise, it'll feel like I'm on a sickie ride at the fair.
This was beautiful, different cultures Chinatown has to offer I would have loved to seeing more of the food court🤦🏾♀️ but always another great video it’s a Chinatown in Chicago too 😀
Ce video est merveilleux ! In Chinatown tout est interessant et plein de vie. Les gens sont actifs et ce mall Tangram est cool ! Merci encore une fois pour m avoir donne la possibilite de voir des places si interssantes. Amitie
I grew up in Flushing in the 50s, 60s and 70s, left NY in 78. I worked on Mainstreet for several years in the early 70s at a small men's clothing store called Tweags. For food there was mostly Pizza and Jewish Deli's no Asian back then.
Ahh yes, Flushing. One of the busiest Transit hotspots: A Busway on Main Street, the (7) 's Eastern Terminus, and a stop on the Port Washington Branch of the LIRR. 7 bus lines connect here and Jamaica, with 6 of them running up to College Point and Whitestone.
Good morning AK! I used to live in Astoria queens and visit many times flushing to do some of my shopping. I now in Miami, But miss the good old days. Thank you so much for beautiful memories ❤
Thanks for these videos action kid I'm so homesick for New York squatters got in my apartment on City Island in the Bronx during the pandemic And I haven't got a place to go in New York I'm on the waiting list for public housing so I'm stuck in Arizona It's not New York and I watch these videos and it reminds me of the fabulousness of New York City and I hope to be there again some day soon.😊
I'm really enjoying the tour. An NYC friend of mine loves Gloria pizza in Flushing. I tried it and thought it was good but I wouldn't say it was my favorite. He grew up on it so it's his favorite. lol I'm curious, how would you rate Gloria's compared to other pizza places? Taylor Swift, oh no, we can't escape her. lol I'm still trying to figure out what all the mania is surrounding her. lol I loved the expression on that little boy's face when the man showed him how to hit the gong, drum? It was priceless:-) I'll keep watching the show and see what happens next:-) 🧚♀
It used to be in Flushing Queens, that's where I tried it, but apparently they moved their establishment to Forrest Hills. I felt the taste and quality was right up there with the various pizza places I've tried in NYC. @@ActionKid
Welcome back to NYC ActionKid! I knew you wouldn't last in FL. There is no place like home, isn't it? 😂😂😂 QUESTION: I know you tried baked buns from Mai Lai Wah in downtown Manhattan (I went there because I saw one of your videos). Anyway, I'm looking for similar baked buns in Flushing... any suggestions, please? Thanks for sharing your walks
- For NYC standards, it's affordable - Great East Asian foods and nightlife - Relatively safe neighborhood compared to some other NYC borough - That makes tango to be desirable neighborhood
This mall and the others like it in Flushing, Queens look a lot like the Pacific Mall and Dragon City, except these ones are livelier than the Toronto ones.
As always, another excellent walk! Many thanks! The street vendors remind me of when I was in the Army in Bangkok 50+ years ago. There was one street vendor who grilled bananas on bamboo skewers on a charcoal grill. He'd dunk them into simmering honey and then into ice water. The honey would crystalize all over the banana. Scrumptious!
Wow Bruce my town had a Chinesse Restaurant like 50 years ago he made a it like that but put sasame seeds on and and dunk it to ice water to cool it down oh wow
@@joetaylor8273 Those bananas and travelling around the city by canal boats on the klongs (canals) are my most vivid memories of my time in Bangkok, and the bananas cost only 1/4 Baht (about 5 cents in US money).
Look how clean and organized this China Town is compared to the walk on Roosevelt Avenue - Mexican Town. This area is also very safe, day and night. Also notice no Chinese Flags flying like the Roosevelt Ave. walk with all Mexican Flags. and not one American.
Half the people in Flushing don't speak English, majority chinese and Latinos don't speak English. Korean majority of them speak english though, but they try to talk like black people

Much appreciated, Flushing has some of the best food in New York

I miss living in a vibrant City city! I am in the Burbs right now in NC. Nice area but I am BORED out of my mind, lol. I miss the Craziness!
I used to go to that Flushing Bakery and they do have the best egg custard tarts and I always get their loaf of bread.
I live in Jackson Heights but always go to Flushing for food, groceries and egg tart....wheres your favorite bakery to get egg tart @actionkid ???
Thank you AK , great shopping area , love the fresh food stands 😋

34:28-This restaurant reminds me of one with a similar entrance at the Pacific Mall here in Toronto.

Asian cuisine is the best.
The 7 train area of Queens, NY is a Minority area for Chinese & Asian Indian & Hispanic people.
I live south of this on Horace Harding. 😁 I live this area
This is soòo informative. I have a deep desire to get to nyc. And I know I will not spend manhattan prices.

That sounds delicious!
Seems like there are more people in Flushing than in Manhattan.
Do people have to have city-issued permits to set up vendor tables along the sidewalk?
I will be there this summer to see the Mets.
Where is the one boutique hotel?
I lived in Flushing in 1979
So much better and more interesting than the “ Chinatown “ in Manhattan 🤷🏻♂️

Do these people pay sales tax
Crazy thing is this isn’t even Chinatown just a neighborhood in queens inhabited by a large Asian population
Flushing far outpaces how many Chinese people Chinatown NY NY has. By a long shot
You do know, asians are chinese, indians, vietnamese, and other countries.

Ridiculous narrow stairs too crowded people got fatter
