It's hard to think that Gaster was ever an antagonist in this series. Also I'm impressed that Camila kept track of the continuity of Gaster's abilities from this, all the way to Animosity. I love this series.

Gaster's development throughout the series really shows how much a person can change based off of other's actions, also, this is amazing
he randomly became a good guy when sans got him out through the machine

EDIT 7/27/2023: So Sans only has 1 DMG but the DPTick is based off the target's karma
I don't think the door has any bad karma, if it does the good karma it has from preventing what happened after its destruction would've canceled it out so Sans should've only been able to do 1 dmg to the door. in which case Gaster should've definitely been able to knock that door down

It's only a rough animation though. It's amazing, just kinda wish there was a finished product.
6:15 it's truly sad that not many people bring this up in the comments. This is the heart breaking part. This is the same Gaster we know from the later down the series. He's an average kind person who doesn't want to hurt anyone.
But he's stuck, in the darkness. All alone. Can't even die. Lonely. Helpless. Endlessly. Existance that's worse than hell. The one moment he had opportunity to make a difference, he took it. Like we all would if we were him.
He's not a bad guy. He's a sad, trapped soul who doesn't deserve what happened to him. If anything, death was the true mercy for him.

I am here after Animosity and HOLY SHIT did Gaster gain much more power after being on the surface for a while. He went from "getting rekt by Sans with a human soul" to "completely obliterating the kid that the entirety of the city could barely scratch".
Also the drastic change in style that happened over the years... That's just awesome seeing Cami grow as an artist and a storyteller.
