I did everything finally I took it to the man , the latch just froze up they got it out by wedging the panel from the door had a tool to reach down and pry it open , new latch was 200 bucks time & labor bout 300 bucks they got done without messing anything up worth every penny! Some time it's just best to let a professional do the job

I have an 07 Sierra I just rolled the window up and took off panel on my rear door, I pressed down on the lever that the rod is attached to the outside door handle it had a yellow plastic clip that came undone at it opened hope this helps!

For those like me who never found the right solution. It was a cable getting hung up. If the latch doesn’t reset all the way it won’t open. In my case it was some broke plastic. If you can get your hand in the door and start feeding the cables in it might reset and open.

Latch may not be fully open. Roll the window down to firmly grab the door. Push and pull till door shuts, then open the door. Grease when open to help prevent it from happening again.

My suggestion to get it to open: Let the interior handle snap back into place a few times while someone else is pulling on it from the outside. I was trying to open it from the inside. The handle was loose(the 2 back rivets were broken) so I was trying different angles. My brother in law said, "All we need is for it to open one more time". And it did....After I let the inside handle snap back a few times. Our cable was broken. I think the cable needs to retract all the way in order for the exterior handle to function. Good luck with it.

That works for me. I was about ready to rip the interior panel in half. But I tried letting the handle snap back about eight times and then finally it popped loose. Thanks for the idea

This worked for me, thanks for the suggestion. And now, the door works again! Silly things like this is why I love/hate my suburban

Your latch itself has probably failed and broke locked on the pin... lots of force and try to bust it open.

And make sure you don’t slam your door even if you’re angry that could jar things loose

So.....the smash the handle method worked. It then took me another 45 minutes to wiggle the door lock mechanism to get the door open. Then I just replaced the door handle....all better now....except that my door liner is in pieces. I had to get mad and break out the power tools. And since the door liner is discontinued by Chevy and GM...I had to pay $200 for a used liner....but I took on my truck and defeated it....

Nothing works the way it should because there is a short rod that is attached to the button that locks & unlocks manually from inside & outside. This rod is attached to a lever attached to the mechanical latch. If this rod is pushed down AND the inside actuator rod is pushed down the door will open! Use the opposite door that will open and remove the panel, roll the window up, manually unlock the window from inside and find the rod that attaches to the lock on the outside of the door. Push this rod down and use the inside handle to open the door ( and it will!). Now, use this technique on the unlock-able door and it should unlock also! Good luck!

Just fixed mine by removing the plastic cover that pops up and down. Grab the threaded lock rod and pull up with pliers while opening the door with the outside handle

Use a long screw driver or similar tool to reach into door from outside with window up and rubber trim off of door to break the lock apart, mostly plastic and already broken since it won't open.

I just smashed the handle off and pulled on the lever. I needed a new handle anyway.

Seriously, wth is up with chevy. These doors are terrible. And on one of the most expensive trucks. Everything else on the truck is solid. But doors are junk.

Ive done these in other models..when locked shut and nothing else works..u gotta force inner panel out and try to release.. If not 2 choices ..chop lock out with an air chisel...which is tough and will cause damage....or strategically saws all from outside which will cause damage. Try spray lube first.

I’ve owned a lot of chevs and Toyota’s can honestly say I’ve never ever had the door panel off in my tacos. I couldn’t even recount how many times I’ve fixed stuff in my chev doors 🤣
