Great information for all of us who own OR plan on purchasing a R129. I might mention here that regarding rust - I noticed that yes, the R129 is primarily a rust free vehicle if well maintained- however, the areas you mentioned to watch out for are areas of concern. But I also found that over time rust will show up under the rear trunk plastic trim piece. This is the plastic trim piece that once you open the trunk lid up it is the plastic piece that runs side to side as a protector to the rear lip. Six tabs keep it secured. Over time moisture and it rain water can collect under it (out of site & out of mind) and rust will start in the hidden area. By pulling the tabs out and disconnecting the trunk light attached to the back side of this trim piece one can lift the trim piece out pretty easily to inspect this area. I just did this and found rust accumulating there - which I quickly repaired. So thought to share this information with you and your viewers🙏
I have a 1997, SL 500. I recently acquired a 2003, 1 owner, 12345 miles, always garaged SL500 for less than 20K, an absolute steal! My 1997 has more miles, 34549, inherited it from maternal grandfather when he passed, July 2020, both silver in color. My son will inherit, hopefully not before many years to come! Thank you for sharing this information! Please, have an epic holiday season sir! ✌🏽🎄🎄🎄🎄
My ‘91 AMG (500SL 6.0) is absolutely a performance BEAST! Schwarz Black exterior with Champagne interior - I love it and will never sell it! It IS my family money pit 🙏

I love them so much I got 3 of them. '91, '97 and 04 SL55.
Wow! quite the collection! Any particular reason you chose those years? and what colors?
91 is the two tone dark and light gray. 97 and 04 are jet black. Also a jet black clk550. I call that the "sleeper"
EdMens, the ‘91 with the M119 - can you appreciate the higher HP compared to the later M113?
