    SOLO PLAYTHROUGHS' MERCHANDISE: www.teespring....
In this episode of Solo Playthroughs, Greg returns to Daelore and its beautiful, winding Sibron River - and this time with an old friend: Patches. Patches leaves the comforts of the Too Many Bones base game to test out his sea legs in a quest to bring an end to the reign of terror of Vol'Kesh, the dragon tyrant from Undertow. Vol'Kesh's fiery attacks are sure to test the healing ability of Patches, as will the abilities of a host of new Baddies as Solo Playthroughs presents for the literal very first look at some of the Baddies from the *Splice & Dice expansion! Can Patches keep himself alive enough to outlast his opponents and make it to Vol'Kesh? Only one way to know for sure...

Welp, I failed to space out the Patreon list, the disclaimer, and the "like and subscribe" tag at the beginning of this but at least it's not a gameplay mistake. :) Look out for Tantrum live in a few weeks! Happy Gaming! Greg

Ha! Yeah - I got there eventually. Too many bad memories of the Owl Bear has clearly clouded my ability to read. :)

Quick clarification for the tyrant fight. Vol'kesh's 'Scalding Skin' triggers when you deal damage to Vol'kesh (including damage that is absorbed by her Thick Skin and/or defense). This is different to Lashback, which triggers when the baddie is damaged (i.e. loses hp).

Thanks, George! It’s Chip Theory. I should have known to check to see if Scalding Skin behaved differently. 🤣 Pretty sure it didn’t matter in this playthrough but glad to know the right rule and I’ll try to remember to mention it in the next TMB video.

Well played! Patches gets a bad rap, but for true solo, if played correctly, can take on the worst tyrants! Thanks for showing off the strengths of the first Gearloc I ever played! I hope we get to see some Splice and Dice and Lab Rats in the future! Take bare and thanks, Greg!

Thanks, Bryan! Yeah - I find Patches really strong. He definitely isn’t the most exciting gearloc and you’re almost guaranteed to be spending a lot of time in fatigue rounds, but his ability to stay alive is just crazy good. Meanwhile, Lab Rats are on there way - hopefully will have that by this summer. 🙂 But Splice and Dice tyrants should be featured soon enough though. Still have Duster (tyrant) and Nobulous to get on the channel first!

Wow a review copy!! Congratz Greg. Chip theory is one of my favourite board gaming companies. I’m also impress at you playing the legendary mode! That seems very difficult to pull off.

Thanks, Hobbyist! Took me a long time to start getting any review copies - they really help a lot while providing a little bit more "payment" for the work that goes into the channel. And Legendary mode is definitely doable with most gearlocs once you know what you're doing. It makes the early part of the game a bit harder but I find it keeps the rest of the game from becoming too easy once you have your gearloc developed. Also, it's a bit easier true solo as opposed to the generally more difficult games with two gearlocs.

Love your reaction when you saw the Sonar Troll! Might be my new worst 5-pt baddie in the game, dethroning that annoying Owlbear!

Excellent playthrough Greg. From the start, I was thinking/remembering Patches was strong with that passive HP regen. It's almost like a guaranteed shield each turn, and takes away some of the decision making you need to do. Also nice to see a lot of skills in use. I mentioned in a prior playthrough how my complaint about the game, from what I've seen on your channel, is how it seemingly focuses more on stats rather than skills. You got the little box on the top right corner which is just more 'boring' compared to the skills you can play with, but it seems like the right path forward is to buff the character first. Of course, I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive, whenever it ends up shipping. It's great that CTG sent you the review copy too. That had to feel good, but not as good as your very generous shout out to me. Thank you Greg, those were some wonderful, kind words, and yes, the interaction is an excellent part of partaking on your channel, even when I go back to a really old video and get schooled on how to use Mr Johnson. I just need to hit the snooze button a little less to make it onto your livestreams. If there's one thing I have really learned watching your content, it is that Mage Knight is a much better game to watch rather than play ;-) I'm happy my box hasn't been touched in a while.
Also, another point with TMB that occurred to me watching this is table space. Like there's so much gameplay that can be condensed in what I'd consider a solo-friendly environment. It's a difficult situation I find sometimes when gaming is having to reach so far away. Really takes away from the experience. TMB, true solo, looks like such a neat, compact game in many ways. Excluding some of the baddie fights you had in this session where there were dice everywhere. And you sure had some interesting fights. I also like the fact that the game does encourage you not to hoard equipment/consumables. Use em and lose em, otherwise you'll end up behind the curve and fail, that's how tight this game feels from what I've seen.

Good stuff, Josh! TMB can feel pretty sprawling but you’re right that it can be pretty condensed compared to the rest of the games I play a lot. As for the loot, I find that Undertow encourages using loot a lot more than the base game. Still, sometimes, you will want to hoard some especially strong effects against certain Tyrant battles. 🙂
