Looks like T Nava on the piano from the Free Nationals. He's soooo good along with the rest of the crew!

Love this, they always have fun..wish i cud go to a jam session...bruno said hes a perfectionist he will play the songs and practice til they are tired of hearing it, to find the missing piece. If its right to him then we get to hear it(he calls it his best whether we like it or not)....im learning alot about instruments from videos

I was watching for your reaction on Andy’s stick toss… it was worth the wait, great reaction. I love to know why two bass drums, is it just to thicken the sound? We had a drummer who really got into a Sleishman twin peddle, an early double kick that were used independently on one bass drum in the early 80’s, don’t know anyone else that was using that set up at that time here, is this a similar effect to Anderson’s set up and a personal preference? 🐨👏🏼🔥🔥🔥such a great job done by all. T.nava is from The Free Nationals and Anderson said Bruno rode him to get that solo right. Smaller band than we normally see, and nothing but a perfect performance…again. Love it.

IMO double kick drums is 100% for looks. Hahaha. Double pedals make sense, but the odd perfectionist might argue the drum doesn't have time to resonate with a second beater coming in so quickly, and with the availability of bigger sound consoles and portable production, drummers started to utilize bigger kits with more Tom's and needed the mounts and 'drum real-estate' to get it all together.
I think there was another uptick in double kick drums when the British invasion started and we were building giant stages with drummers way up high, it would have looked bigger and tougher than the typical 3 or 4 piece.
The biggest problem is now you have 2 big ass drums that are driving the band, and have to be pitched the exact same or it sounds like a timpani March 😂 imagine every other kick beat slightly pitched higher or lower than the other drum... hilarious. But with good drummers and good drum techs these days, you can get them reeeeeal close to matched sounding, and even nerdier it might not even be the actual drum we are hearing, but a trigger that goes off when the drum is played so it's perfect everytime. Hope that all made sense hahah

Thanks for the info. Have noticed some kits in big domes/ concert venues back in the 80’s 90’s and wondering how much I can’t hear like some of guitar stacks still used in smaller rooms just for show otherwise we would have been strained through the grills at the back of the room, and deaf for more than the next day, hahaha. Love the detail in your reactions, equipment and production live has changed so much over time. Stuff we didn’t have, at least it was an even playing field live, and fun, full of good mistakes… and some of the technical issues still stand today. Do love the detail in everything with Bruno and now Anderson, Silk Sonic. Everyone around them are just killing it.

Nice reaction. If you want to see Bruno doing more rock, check out the song Blow which features Bruno, Chris Stapleton and Ed Sheeran. The only thing that is not so great is that the video features female rockers lip-syncing the song.

Think you might enjoy some music filmed at Daryl's House (Daryl Hall). One of my personal favorites is this live performance:
"Fuck You"- CeeLo Green, Daryl Hall th-cam.com/video/QodGtTU69uQ/w-d-xo.html
Songwriters: CeeLo Green, Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, and Brody Brown
Producers: The Smeezingtons (aka Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine) All Instruments: Bruno Mars, Brody Brown, Ari Levine
Nominated for 4 Grammys (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Short Form Music Video, and Best Urban/Alternative Performance). Won Best Urban/Alternative Performance.
This record came out before Bruno released his first studio album.

Now that Silk Sonic has started us on a vintage/retro journey, another group with an old school flavor is the British group "The 1975" They have an '80s throwback vibe. A good example is "If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)" th-cam.com/video/wYYQpTbBSBM/w-d-xo.html. Turn on your closed captioning, be patient, wait for it...
