    • @EntertainingDiva
      @EntertainingDiva  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually put them together ahead of time and then transport the bouquet holders with the feathers separate from the vases. But if you're short on transportation space, you can actually put them together on site. Once you've done a few of them, they only take a couple of minutes to set up.

    Thank you so much for sharing. Your video is very informative. I have a question. Though you usually use a 20", what size/height would be best for a dinner table center piece if using ostrich feathers? I'm concerned about eye level/site line against the feathers. Thank you again.

    • @EntertainingDiva
      @EntertainingDiva  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tina...the 20" vases will work for dinner table centerpieces if you use the shorter (12" to 14") feathers. If you're using the longer feathers, I would go up to 24" (any more than that and they can be pretty unstable). When you're putting in the bottom row of feathers, you may want to position them so they are sticking out more than down to make sure they aren't blocking the view. If you want to see what that looks like, I have a few pictures on my site from a Halloween party: www.entertainingdiva.com/fallen-angels-and-devils-party/.

    Q: Can you go even higher than 24 inches for the vases? I want super tall centerpieces for my wedding :)
    Update: I saw in another comment that they become too unstable higher than 24. Are there other types of vases I could get that are more stable at a larger height?

    • @EntertainingDiva
      @EntertainingDiva  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Julia...I have not tried making them taller than 24 inches, so I don't have any recommendations. But if you can find something that is wider at the base, that would help to keep it from tipping over. You can always use larger round styrofoam balls (rather than the bouquet holders) to hold the feathers. If the ball won't stay straight, stick 3 or 4 wooden dowels at the bottom of it (inside the vase) to hold it in place. I hope that helps!

      As a general rule, I would charge what it costs me to make them (including my time) as the rental fee. It depends on the size of the feathers. For the longer 22" to 24" feathers, I use about 27. For the shorter 12" to 14" feather, I use about 30. You can get away with fewer than that if you don't mind a less full look. And some people want a few more than that if they want it to be really full.

    Beautiful... but the poor ostriches...😧

    • @EntertainingDiva
      @EntertainingDiva  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually looked into this before I started using ostrich feathers. It's kind of like shearing sheep. The ostriches are raised on "feather farms". When the feathers are the right size, they are cut off the birds and then they grow new ones. The birds aren't killed, and the feathers aren't pulled out so it's not painful in any way.
