    This is one of the most exciting percussion revolvers of the Civil War era. The Kerr is often mistaken to be a DA revolver, but this is not really true, however the gun has several feauters that make look like a DA handgun. History, presentation, specifications and of course some shooting!

    It is a shame that this revolver hasn't been reproduced. It has all of the desirable features that anyone would want in a revolver of that era. It's robust, simple, obviously accurate and spent caps aren't an issue for the Kerr. Maybe Pietta or Uberti will decide to use this design some day? Excellent research and presentation. Top notch video. Thank you. I agree with John Henry in the comments.

    Who in their right mind would give this a thumbs down? A marvelous,little-known piece of Civil War history,examined,explained,handled and shot. A small gem. If you don't like it,don't watch it. Cheers, PGM.

      Also for us Confederate types, would nice to have a period correct revolver that doesn't eat itself after a lot of rounds. Brass frames suck.

      @@capandball Well if you ever need a tour guide or just some info, I have visited most of the ones in the south. Gettysburg is just too far for me to get to though. I don't know about Hungarian soldiers joining the war effort, but do know that many Southern cavalry units copied the style of dress of the hussar units of Hungary.

    • @DAKOTA56777
      @DAKOTA56777 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lou Panella Well the sights are entirely fixed and non adjustable, so I imagine it's hard to get it right purely through factory production.
      That and the manufacturers seemed to have... ambitious thoughts of the type of range people would be using the guns at, so the sights already start off being set for greater distances than what people normally shoot them at on target ranges.

    My great grandfather was a member of the First North Carolina Cavalry CSA and carried a Kerr revolver and Colt Army. We still have both in the family as he didn't surrender but received a parole in July 1865. His guns remained loaded until 1965 and were unloaded at the conclusion of the Civil War Centennial. I shoot competition with an array of Civil War guns in the North-South Skirmish Assn. and have done so for over 50 years. The guns are deadly accurate once the most favorable powder charge and bullet combination have been determined using a bench rest. All our competitive shooting is done offhand and we shoot both individual and team matches at a maximum distance of 100 yards. See our website for a film showing what we do at www.N-SSA.org.

    Hi, I like your black powder videos. I hadn't heard of this gun before. By the way, 54-bore means .44 calibre, by the standards used to measure shotgun gauges, which was how most guns were measured in England when it was made. It's the number of lead balls, of the same diameter as the gun's bore, that it would take to make a pound weight. Do you need a permit for black powder revolvers in Hungary?

    • @frigglebiscuit7484
      @frigglebiscuit7484 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @frigglebiscuit7484
      @frigglebiscuit7484 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Magnum the union only won because it treated its soldiers like communist russia: advance into cannon fire, or be shot.

    • @randymagnum143
      @randymagnum143 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They lacked the capacity and the raw materials to make steel. Not to mention the machinery to roll it, or the machinery to build the machinery, or the skilled labor to build the machinery. The only mass produced weapons in the south relied on machinists that were.....wait for it.....slaves. even now, there is a shortage of skilled tradesman in the south.
