It's a shame there a no repo's of any of the adams revolvers I never heard about them till I wondered what British officers were using at the time of the American civil war and when I saw one for sale I got confused when the seller's add said 54bore but on wiki it said 44cal still nice video I think I might of asked this but could u do a vid on pinfire guns thay were used in the American civil war and I'm trying to find a pinfire shotgun thanks
Liam, 54 bore is the same type of measurement as we use with shotguns: the number shows how much bore size roundballs you can cast from 1 pound of lead.
Its a Brit thing with the "bore". The common ones are 54 bore (.442 calibre), 80 bore (.387) and 120 bore (the smallest at .338 calibre). The real rarities are the heavy calibre 38 bore pistols (approx .50 calibre) - which often get called "dragoons" There seem to be a lot more 1851 "hammerless" 38 bores about than later Beaumont Adams 38 bore "dragoons".....which command a really high price at auction and in gun dealers due to their rarity. Personally there is no competition as far as Im concerned. Give me a Beaumont Adams or similar Webley wedge frame any day.
I wish that modern arms makers would produce Adams or Trantor reproductions. They missed an opportunity when they ignored the anniversary of our Civil War.
You hold and fire revolvers using modern 2 handed stance. Originally, the preferred method was what some refer to as one handed 'fencing stance'. Would like to see you do a video comparing the original and modern stances. (Recall that handguns originally were to replace a sword or a knife, and likely that's where the original stance evolved. Some older, period illustrations show the shooter with that sideways, fencing stance, some even with the 'limp wrist' hold, also occasionally seen when fencing.)

I was at a gun show yesterday and a gentleman was selling an "Adams Navy Revolver". I recognized the shape but I didn't know that they were made in 36 caliber. The pistol looked so great I wasn't sure if it was real or a replica, it looked nickel plated and was engraved. I got the chance to hold it, it fit perfectly in my hand but for the price and not being sure it was real I passed. The man was trying to sell a collection from an estate, he said he knew the man personally for years and that he had the second largest collection of bullets and cartridges in the US.
I agree that a repo of the .44 Beaumont-Adams would be a great addition to the shooting world. Also, is there a definitive patent date for the earliest pinfire revolver in Europe? I always wondered if there was one which definitely predated the Rollin White patent
Wow this is the best percussion revolver I have ever seen. It's like the ancestor to the J frame! If I had to carry a percussion pistol for defense it would no doubt be this one. And I wouldn't even be that mad about it.
Nice little pocket pistol. One of the contemporary colt prototypes was shown on Forgotten weapons and sold for $180,000 U.S. It was in mint condition and showed the route Colt could have gone if they hadn't settled on their now famous designs.
I remember this (the full size) from Hannie Caulder and always thought it was cool even though the way it was depicted in the movie was not entirely correct :)
He he!That mérleg is almost the same as my mothers which she use for full 50 years.Except her has smaller scale above longer one for weighing in dekagrams. :-)
I wish Uberi and Traditions would make these models. Once you buy what they do manufacture, there is no other models to choose from.

This one is one of my favorite percussion revolvers. I shooted it once and i loved it. Still hoping that somebody will start producing reproductions.

Very nice video and nice little revolver. I almost can't believe that this does only put out 50J. I can reach that kind of power with my slingshot.

I wouldn't call those sights myself but at self-defense ranges who uses the sights anyway? and yes that frame is a tad small for a double action!!
