To show the control surfaces, put the gain all the way up. You will see large amounts of throw. Make sure they are right, then bring your gain back to where you want it
Thanks for the great work. I had tried many times to get my A3 to initiate without any luck. Then I watched your video and got it to work on the next try. I really appreciate it.
Hi Merry, I know you are young & fresh from way back pre cover days, but this video was just discovered & sooo informative. Many thanks indeed. Greetings from Australia mate. Regards
Awesome video Merry. I just bought the A3 v2 gyro so I needed a video and I think your on point. By the way I like Wolf Faukner German airplane in the background. I subscribed
Question, since you do not have an extra channel in your receiver, could you use a sbus satellite receiver and get more channels from your radio? Thanks
When he says "keep on low setting to keep from buffeting" what does that mean? Mine tends to get a little jittery in the air when there is a breeze, like twitchy. Mine is set in the middle, should I turn to + or - to correct that? Thanks!!
Wesley, did you do this video for me ? Thank you brother. 😎 I missed ya on the piolets lounge this week, I was stuck in a zone somewheres, couldn't get the show. Thanks and we'll see ya next week ✈
wayne lee thanks for checking it out man sorry you missed the pilot lounge pilot Ryan opened a box from me you should check it out it’s 40 minutes in if you have any questions on installation of your gyro feel free to ask thanks for your support brother
Im looking into buying this gyro but my radio isnt a programmable one and is only 4 channel, will i be able to change the mode of gyro without a programmable transmitter by pressing the button on the gyro itself to change between full stabilization- and gyro off?
First installed it this week in my Hobbyking Tundra to try it and making some experience: the plane flies calmer by activitating the gyro, but a little nose up by flying straight. Or I should trim it up or calibrating the plane exactly horizontal by start. What is better if using flat mounting the gyro: the plane is a little not horizontal cause the rear is lower to the ground. Should it better for calibrating the gyro to power on the plane exactly horizontal? Thanks for replying, great vids!
i quess this gyro doesn't help the plane to fly in wind? a gyro should correct the movement of the plane if it's not by user command? instead it goes with it and does nothing to aid stable flight?
Hi, Did this tame the beast? I have the P40 which as you say is very sensitive to tip stall and heading when taking off and landing. Firstly, I found the torque from a 4s was whipping it over so I tried a 3S and some lead in the nose. Much better but still a bit of a handful on the ground but great in the air. Now I have added a gyro (Orange Stabilized RX) and have it switchable when flaps are down (take off and landing positions). What a difference. It now has no swing, even in a cross wind on take off. Landings are fine if you keep the speed up. I have low gain on Ail and Elv and medium on Rudder. Gyro is off for normal flight as it flies well with 30% Expo.
Well it helps but I don’t know if I’d call it tame lol. But yes it’s a much more enjoyable experience I actually have three of these old birds now and really enjoy the way it flys you just definitely pay attention when your flying this bird
I have the eflight Cirrus 1,5m what do you think are the best settings in the cirrus for a beginner?... I Just wanna fly relaxed so I need settings for very beginner...
Hello Merry Boozer! You say it right off the bat that the pins have to be facing towards the tail of the plane. Jim from Motion RC in his set up video says the same thing? The manual from HobbyKing say's it can be mounted in a variety of positions as long as the pins are ""facing forward (or rear) of the plane"" Can you clear this up? I installed one in my 90mm Gosshawk EDF with the pins facing forward and everything checks out fine in the preflight test. I don't want to maiden it until I know for sure that the direction of the pins (forward/rearward) does or doesn't matter? Can you clarify this one way or the other?? Thanks. Merry Christmas Merry Boozer
You always want the servo connection facing the tail the pins must face aft also make sure you use an open channel so you can turn it on and off so if something is wrong you can turn it off. Take of with the gyro off get the plane up in the air and when you turn it on you will know as soon as you turn it on if it’s wrong
@@MerryBoozerRC AGAIN...The manual from HobbyEagle says the gyro can be mounted in multiple positions as long as the servo pins are facing towards the front of the plane "OR" the rear of the plane. Do you and Jim know something that HobbyEagle doesn't???? because your answer doesn't help me at all??
I do not work for Motionrc your best bet would be to ask customer service but I was told to always have them point to the back of the plane. So I always have and never had an issue
@@MerryBoozerRC I know you don't work for Motion RC. However I have watched a lot of your videos and you seem to know what you're talking about. Have you read the directions in the A3-L manual? It states in red lettering it can be mounted either way (pins facing Front OR Rear) not trying to bust your chops I would just like my curiosity satisfied. FYI, I installed one in my 90mm Gosshawk with the pins facing forward and everything works as it should on the bench.
Hey Wes. Have an issue with the gyro. When I pick up the plane to check the control surfaces, the rudder and elevator are crossed. When i lift the tail the rudder moves. When I yaw the plane left and right the elevator moves. I have the gyro side mounted and followed your video on side mount red flash. Any ideas? or maybe i need to go back through the side mount flash setup? Thanks
Hal Roofner you have them plugged into the wrong channel on the gyro your channel 123 go back and check it you can google hobby eagle gyro and check the manual it shows what plugs in where
@@MerryBoozerRC correct Wes lol. Had my servo leads ass backwards. Plugged them in to the correct ports and switched the gyro back to side mount configurationand it works great. Thanks for your help!.
hi i have a problem with a3 all fine, but rudder is not going down than i move stick down on remote ? is it normal may be ? another ele and ail ok (full period).
@@MerryBoozerRC thank you for attention. i installed stab. Stab was activated. ailerons and eleron are working good. with full amplitude. down and up. Rudder only up and to center. Down is not moving, then i control from taranis x9d. On remote i don't set any settings for limit rudder.
shouldnt the control surfaces go in the opp direction to correct? thats how it works on my flybarless heli Lol i dont get how the control surface goin into the movement corrects it.
Hard to explain this on chat but you want it to cancel out whatever is happening so if the left wing is going up so a right roll the left aileron should be going up. So if the plane is rolling to the right the gyro should be trying to correct the plane to the left 🥴 I hope that made sense
Thanks for the recommendation on this gyro. Just installed it on my H9 P51 60 glow arf. You made the install easy!
Hal Roofner thanks man one of our first videos we have definitely got better at it lol
To show the control surfaces, put the gain all the way up. You will see large amounts of throw. Make sure they are right, then bring your gain back to where you want it

Thorough walk through of the process...I wasted a lot of time b4 I found your video!
Thanks, your hand actions with the control surface movements were very helpful and just what I needed to complete my install.
You explained more better and clear than Motion RC but I will buy because from them because of you, Thanks MB RC

Great video and very clear to understand. Thanks
Question, since you do not have an extra channel in your receiver, could you use a sbus satellite receiver and get more channels from your radio? Thanks
How do I handle differential ailerons on two separate channels or am I restricted to aileron servos on a Y cable and one channel ailerons?
When he says "keep on low setting to keep from buffeting" what does that mean? Mine tends to get a little jittery in the air when there is a breeze, like twitchy. Mine is set in the middle, should I turn to + or - to correct that? Thanks!!
So in this case, in order to turn off-on gyro, we need 8 channels RX , TX, not seven channels AR7000, right? 🎉🎉🎉🎉😮

I use 2 channel for alerons, can i connect the gyro with this configuration?
You could use a Y-splitter so both ailerons run into one channel.
this HobbyEagle A3-L V2 Gyro works the same as the spektrum ar636 ?? works like as3x and safe system ??
Works like AS3X but not safe

What is the capacitor for?
Bill Hightower the gyros do not like any fluctuation in voltage the capacitor just helps keep smooth voltage flowing to it
