    Hi, I'm Leo from Indonesia. I love your tutorial. I need to know how the rythm pattern of blues or jazz is.

    Hi Paul Great Stuff!! Would have expected concert D- would be an E- for the tenor?!? Please explain if it's A- as mentioned on your slide....;-)

      Dirk Jäger Hey thanks so much for pointing that out mate. I must have copied something over and missed that correction. Well spotted, and thanks for the feedback. Yes its definately in E for Tenor sax. :)

    Great lick, trying to figure out what you do to use the melodic minor so well. 🤷

    • @PaulHaywood
      @PaulHaywood  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jerome, thanks for the comment. :) Really glad you like the lick. For the melodic minor scales i practiced them in the same way i have my major scales, a lot of different patterns and also building up sped switching between keys to get my recall of each scale quicker.
      Also worth mentioning in case i didn't mention it in the video, when i refer to the melodic minor i mean the "Jazz melodic minor" as apposed to the classical. The classical is the same as the Jazz on the way up but the classical uses a "natural minor" or aeolian minor scale to descend. That makes it one step simpler.
      I'll have some videos going up over the next few months on how to develop fluency on scales for improvising etc so that might be some extra insight too.
      All the best, thanks for watching AND for subscribing! :D

    you are awesome. What is the mouthpiece ? Is it beechler ?

    • @PaulHaywood
      @PaulHaywood  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, yes your right. It's a Beechler bellite. Number 6. I often consider changing to a 7 but i'm pretty at home on this piece. :)

    Dude that is funky fresh blowing, hehehe. Are you using the octive key?

    • @PaulHaywood
      @PaulHaywood  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +kenneth ward Hi Kenneth. I thought you might like this one! :D yes im using the octave key whenever im above middle C#. The false fingering bits, in my jam at the end (flapping between two sounds of the same note) is a technique ill do i video on sometime. Give it a try with playing A and add the 3 fingers on the right hand (leace the G key open) and back off again.
