Great explore! Court House - Hotel - Miners' Cabins! What a place for BnBs, etc. Never heard of Pioche. Thanks for all the information and the lovely video! Bon Voyage!
You two were lucky enough to be there before tourist season hit - that place turns into a mad house during the summer! Several of the mine claims are still active & working. Been through there countless times, but have only had the chance to drive through the town proper a couple of times - since the old highway isn't too friendly towards modern trucks... Would love to see the mill, but yes, its been fenced off for as long as I can remember: am amazed the tram hasn't been vandalized over the years.
Talk about the Pillsbury dough gal. Yee-Haa! I almost bought the "oldest casino in NV" there. I/we had so much fun exploring around there. Just a blast. Talk about being in my element. Yowzer! A little secret, we miners, even us retired ones, can still make the bedrock. Yee-Haa! Not sure but I always wondered if there isn't a lodge up on Davis Mtn. There.😊 left you another tip. Be cool. Luv ya both.
What a fascinating town this is. The history is amazing. I can't think of a place that so obviously has the past, coexisting with the present... I agree. There should be a way to incorporate the past into their present. I saw cars, and a few obviously open buildings, but no signs of children, or action. I would love to go there. Their past is something else. Thank you, Andrea and Steven, for taking us along. 🏚🏡👏🏻☀️👏🏻
People still live there. There’s a few shops cafes and bars but it was so cold when we filmed. I think people thought we were nutty filming in that weather
What a way cool semi-ghost town! Almost too much to explore in one day. Would be fun to spend the night in the old hotel. If only the walls could talk!
Since that area was blocked off. I wonder if someone new bought it. Many of the mines, were not played out. They just quit, when the profits were too low. Silvers is worth much more now.
Pee low is how I was told Pioche was correctly prounced. Been there several times. There is a fantastic campground called Cathedral Gorge which has many modern conveniences which many campgrounds in Nevada parks are bare bones. The colors are awesome.
What a fascinating place to wonder and ponder how drastic life was. You had to be somewhat of a genius back then if one wanted to endure the hardships in life. It must of been cold and windy the day yous filmed this. This place is haunted at night.
6 cents per ton for processing was a hefty fee back then. By the way all those "tailings" you see all over the mountain are not tailings. They are waste rock mounds. Tailings is what is left after processing the ore. All those piles are waste rock from driving the tunnels. At some point in time, it became illegal for anyone to ride in the carts or buckets on the trams due to people falling out. I rode a ski lift once and don't ever want to do it again. LOL
@@larryhullinger4141 All of the piles that are outside of adits are waste rock. The tailings happen when milling. In most cases, the milling doesn't happen right in front of the adit. Cept for a few mines like the Gem mine in Jail Canyon.
Yet another moody masterpiece! The music folds right into the terrain. Did you notice the miner in the ore cart up on a porch roof downtown? Pretty cool. All so evocative. Good show! ⚡️🏚⚡️

@@Britcarjunkie it’s a great little town. Lots to see. Too cold for us to explore everything. End of March when we were there
This was a good history walk. Thanks..
You’re welcome Lorna.
I AGREE............That hotel would be fantastic to stay in for a week or so to ghost hunt every night! Thanks for showing!
Totally right? Glad you enjoyed it

It was flipping freezing 🥶 but I was snug in my coat.
We love you too. Always so supportive with some poetry and a yee haa!
Love your humour Steve! (that makes cents) certainly a bleak place with an equally bleak history. Thanks Steve and Andrea
Thanks Brian. Even more bleak with that weather!!!!
Great little town with lotsa history. Loved the opening shots! Guess it was a bit nippy? :-)
Freezing
Love how preserved that place is you been holding this video for a while
Filmed at the end of March beginning of April this year. Hence the 🥶
It would be fun to hang out in that old hotel overnight, and listen for disembodied voices and footsteps! Cool town! Thanks for the tour.

Wow, amazing little town packed full of juicy history! Thanks for the tour!!! "Lead poisoning" 😂
That mill would have been the icing on the cake, we just didn’t want to end up like the first 6 or 72 inhabitants for getting too close…
We were just there Saturday. Gassed up at the Sinclair and paid our respects over at Boot Hill. I've spent a lot time exploring that area.
There’s lots to see but most of the good stuff is on private land!
