  • Coach reacts to a live performance of Dimash Qudaibergen's "Diva Dance" from his Bastau concert and is astounded by his voice. Then, he compares that performance to the original Diva Dance from the film, The 5th Element. Enjoy this first-time, genuine reaction, with lyric breakdown and commentary.
Dimash fans, can we get Coach to 2000 subs?
    Enjoy.

He doesn't actually go higher. He is singing the song with the same note intervals but he is singing the song also a half step below the original. So it is in a slightly lower pitch.

Dimash does have perfect pitch. From a very early age Dimash was very interested in anything musical. He'd strum the dombra, and sing. At age 3yrs family took him to a very prestigeous music school to have his voice assessed. They were told even at that young age he was pitch perfect. Hence his ability to hop around between notes.
Please remember when comparing Dimash with the other singer of that song - that the high notes were computerised , they could not reach the high notes at all.

Thank you for your sincere reaction. Dimash is a gem of true rarity😊💖 To answer your question about his age:
Dimash's concert Bastau was in 2017, a few months after the Chinese competition The Singer, which made him famous around the world. This is his first solo concert, 40 thousand visitors from 60 countries, and he is 23 years old. He looks very young, very thin, almost frail after a four-month singing marathon where he had to compete with well known Chinese pop singers and was not only the youngest, but also the only foreigner, almost unknown in his country let alone abroad, despite his many domestic and international First Place and Grand Prix awards. He was a wildcard and was slated for two rounds. When he won the first two rounds, the organizers knew he was a force to be reckoned with. The show of thirteen rounds won a very famous Chinese 51-year-old pop diva, which was the Chinese way of saving face, and Dimash was placed second, but everyone - audience, organizers, entertainment companies, even social event moguls treated him as the boy wonder and real winner that he was. In the next two and a half years until the lockdown, he won every possible singing award in China, some equivalent to the US Grammys, which he also did in Russia, working in both countries and touring the US and Europe at the same time. Dimash's digital concert was in 2021, during the COVID-19 quarantine, four years after Bastau. This year he has a double Jubilee - 30 years of age and 25 years on stage. Quite impressive for a young man, don't you think?

That was his first solo concert in Astana, called Bastau, (Beginning). There were 30,000 people there. It was on June 27, 2017, so he was 23 and it was after the Singer competition. He worked so hard on this concert he got very thin...why he looks different. I read some of his people wewe concerned. If you want low notes you don't need another singer. Watch Dimash sing Olympico to open the European Games in his astonishing operatic baritone. This was written for Dimash by the famous Russian composer who came out of retirement to work with him. He is the bald man (a billionaire many times over) playing the piano for Dimash in many of the videos. It is laughable hearing some reactors talk about "the piano player." You don't need to move your mouth or your lips in order to produce notes. That's all done with the vocal cords in the back of the mouth. If you open your mouth and sing "ahhh" keeping your mouth open sing through the Do-Re-Mi fa so la ti do scale. This was 2017 but he still looks that young today if he changes his hairstyle! For example he looks a lot older in Stranger in 2021 than he does in Ave Maria 2021 and it’s only a couple of days apart at the same venue/event between the performances! Hair forward = older, hair back = younger!

Dimash also did the Diva Dance at the Singer competition 2017. He was 22, and if you look carefully at SOS AND Opera 2, he looks very young. A couple reactors said he looks like he’s 15. I read in one comment that the producers of that show told him he could perform it if he didn’t go up as high as the film because they didn’t want the chance that he damage his vocal chords. I never saw that anywhere else, so I don’t know if that is true. A dear since 2017 in Oregon.

You need to do Dimash Omir where he stays a little low. He composed the song and released it on his birthday for the fans. It shows his journey from childhood to know and his personal thoughts etc. He did a sold out concert at the Barclays in New York in 2019, so we are hopeful he will do it again. I flew from Texas to New York to see it and it was incredible. 3 hours seemed like 30 minutes. He sings many songs in English and went from saying a few words in English to doing full interviews in English now. Does he get every word perfect? No, but we have a term for it. We call it Dinglish and we love it. One of the most amazing videos of Dimash is The Story of One Sky. It is an intense MV , 12 minutes long about war and the need for peace. He composed the music, wrote the story, acted one of the main parts and sang every note in English although it seems like 8 people. Please check it out.

The song’s composer, Eric Serra, designed the piece with the intent that it would be impossible for a human to perform the high-pitch staccato sections. He had Inva Mula-Tchako, an Albanian opera lyric soprano, sing the notes individually so that they could then be arranged digitally and recorded. In the movie, this song is “performed” by an alien, Diva Plavalaguna, played by Maïwenn Le Besco. Dimash's performance of the "Diva Dance" at his Bastau concert proved the composer wrong, as Dimash did sing the song perfectly.
If you want to be truly speechless watch his performance from the annual Gakku TV open-air concert, with approximately 150,000 fans in attendance. During this 2017 live performance, Dimash set a record for the highest note ever sung in a live concert when he produced his now-famous D8. He not only hit a D8 but also did a glissando and held it for several seconds, even adding vibrato to it. It was a spontaneous attempt because he missed the slightly lower note he had initially aimed for immediately prior.

Thanks! That was fun! I haven't been to a Dimash concert yet, but I hope to go one day. He did a concert in New York City about 2 years before I heard of him. Too bad, I live close enough to have gone over a weekend! 🇨🇦

Yes, in the movie they only had the opera singer do a small part, the rest was made totally by computers so that it would be impossible for any human to sing 😂! They didn't know he was coming 😂😂😂❤ no Dimash didn't use anything to tweak his voice. He even did a small part of it on the Singer Competition Show in China in 2016-2017 after he sang another song called "Confessa"

Many others have tried, others have been female and unable to hit the really low notes. The fact that Dimash can access all the octaves makes his performance of this song the best, in my opinion. Plus, he does the run that is meant to mimic the flute-ish sounds the Diva makes.....others punt at that point. Did you notice that Dimash's final note is one that the Diva doesn't do?

    • @pigskinpoetry
      @pigskinpoetry  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I did. I was wondering how he was going to handle the "flute" part. That's the most infatuation part of the song to me.
