OMG i love you guys so much. last summer was a blast watching this channel. so much that we even started our own league off u guys. thx so much for making another one u guys are the best!
I have enjoyed watching you guys play. You remind me of my youth as my friends and I played whiffle ball every seemingly endless summer day from early morning until late night (under the Parker St. lights). We made a field out of 2 opposing homes, a well placed utility pole and an adjacent fence. We endured our angry mothers when we painted home plate, batters box, bases, pitchers slab as well as the foul poles. We are all in our late 50's now but, whenever we are together, its all we talk about. I still have the signed whiffle ball from my 10th career no hitter! Our children and grandchildren are tired of hearing the same old stories. They are our stories and they will be with us forever --- as you are building yours. Keep it up! All of us from that old Newark neighborhood enjoy watching you make the same wonderful memories.
As a self proclaimed wiffle ball professional I wanna add 3 more pitches for the ladies and gents at home. Pitch one is the cutter. You throw the cutter with the slider grip but you close your fingers and have them go just slightly opposite to the holes. Throw it like a fast ball and give it some juice and you have a fast pitch that has just enough break to throw off any great wiffle ball player. The next pitch is the two seam fast ball. It’s a slider grip with closed fingers again (don’t offset your hand just go up the middle) but you flip the holes on the left side if you are right handed and to the right side if you are left handed. This one is just like a real two seam fast ball wear you throw it like a fast ball but it will move to your arm side. One more pitch will be my signature because I have mastered it and I call it the “McShtinky”. I don’t throw it a lot because it is a change up but it is definetly a good third strike pitch or a good pitch to upset timing. It is a circle change grip in where you pinkie in ninety degrees on the solid side of the ball, your ring finger is 45 degrees on the solid side, your middle finger is 45 degrees on the hole side and you make a relaxed circle with your pointer finger and thumb on the circle 9 degrees on the hole side. If you know how to throw a real baseball circle change it will help but it is basically an “👌” gesture. When your throw it you need to move your hand inward right before release to it drifts to the arm side while dropping and also make sure you throw it at the same arm angle and arm speed as your fastball. The grip will make it slow down automatically. The last pitch is the hardest to throw but if you get it you will be the best wiffle ball player in your neighborhood (just practice it because if you throw it high or bad it becomes the easiest pitch to see and you will get taken deep). Good luck out there everyone!
Growing up in the 70's, Wiffle Ball was the go-to sport every summer. We called it "chair ball" because we used an aluminum lawn chair as the strike zone. If the ball hit any part of the chair, it was a strike. It eliminated all of the arguments. It's been replaced with the strike zone that you use, but the result is the same (no arguments). I used to throw all of these pitches, plus a couple that you didn't mention. My group of friends and family carried on playing "chair ball" most of our lives. Any family gathering or party would involve a game or two. You always had a bat and a couple of balls in the car, just in case a game broke out. I wish there were organized leagues when I was younger. I think what you guys are doing is great! Stay the course.
@@Owen12Cook a bat probably won't hit it. If a bat can hit the go pro it can hit the strike zone and I'm sure no one would be that close where that could happen.
@@Owen12Cook I mean if you got 350,000 followers on TH-cam they probably have enough revenue to justify it as a business expense. They can even write it off on their taxes
Your video has helped me so much! It has been so helpful to me and has even inspired me to make my own pitch that i suggest you guys try out! I call the pitch the “Bullet Curve”. You hold the wiffle ball covering one hole and as if the top of the ball with all the holes are facing at the strike zone if you held it out. You then throw it like a traditional drop ball with having it go right across your ear. With this grip and motion it will not only drop into the zone but move a lot faster and have a slight curve to the ball as well. Edit: Its awesome to see that a channel stays up to date on an old video. Thanks for the like MLW!
I hope this is sarcasm because they went into very minimal detail about how to throw these. They spent a minute or two on each pitch and most of that time was clips of them throwing it.
that knuckle drop is a knee buckler holy moly! I'll be adding that to my pitch repertoire. I throw a 2 seam, a breaking changeup, sinker, fastball, slider, and now i'll be adding this
Love trying out these pitches! I have also developed a power sinker in the high 60s to complement some of the MLW pitches I learned. I still have a lot of time to develop the game too, at my age. However there aren’t a many organized competitions this far south (that I’ve heard of) so I have to stick to just fooling around with friends on weekends that I don’t have baseball tournaments. Keep up the great work, MLW!
Man Dallas Allen's banana ball is disgusting. No wonder dudes got 0.0 Era. To move from behind the batter, and into the zone in just 41 feet? Incredible.
This tutorial is amazing. Me and my friend are thinking of making a 2v2 wiffle ball league with neighborhood kids. We have been practicing this pitches so we will be ready.
Man I wish we would have had leagues and team competition back in my younger years. Played a ton of wiffle ball. I also watch premier league wiffle out of Las. Vegas and it is great. I know leagues have different rules but I think it would be great to watch a weekend tournament between the top players from different league's and if you already do please let me know where I can watch it.
Awesome video! One thing for your future videos you do… For your next tutorial like this, get a sharpie and mark the ball so the rotation of the ball can be seen. It will help people visualize how the ball supposed to move, or rotate in the air, and also help with how they release the ball. Once again awesome video I look forward to seeing more like it!
I know I probably won’t get many replies because I am late, but for the slider, I do what he says except for the spiral football part. Can someone explain to me what he means
At the risk of sounding like a killjoy, my buddy and I played fast pitch wiffle ball back in the 70's & 80's. We mastered most of the pitches you guys throw. You've taken it to another level though. We loved the game and played on weekends for years. The killjoy part is that we both have the same shoulder issues. I believe it stems from the torque and the extra snap it takes to throw an essentially weightless ball with speed and accuracy. When you can't throw a ball 50 ft. When you're in your 60s. Don't say you weren't warned. Knowing what I know now...... I wouldn't have changed a thing. It's so much fun. Wish I could still play.
Easy to throw changeup: Hold like you're throwing gas Do the same leg kick, and same backswing Release with hand forwards Flick wrist back right before you release Tried this on my friends in actual games and NO ONE can hit it
I've been trying my own drop ball like Jorgy and I live throwing my slider that I learned from Jimmy off of lefties who can hit it when I throw it outside. I love all of the Vids and can't stop watching them. I also one day want to be in this league so get ready in 6 years.
When I was young, before the road to big baseball, a friend brought me to the slow softball team. it was boring to throw one pitch so i started inventing :) slow slider, slow knuckleball. it was very funny! I look at these nasty pitches and I also want to have so much fun!
I play against a bunch of guys who don't really care about stuff like this, but I'm usually the pitcher, and next game, I don't think anyone will actually be able to hit off me. Thanks MLW!!!
Great video! Really getting into pitching, especially since it’s back-yard friendly. Would you consider doing another video with maybe fewer pitches but more in depth, possibly focusing on control and speed? I’d love to see it! Thanks!
I’ve got a dirt change up. I say dirt because no matter how hard or high I throw this pitch it dead stops and falls short of the zone about 3 feet. Been throwing it for a year and I still get buddies chasing.
