Nah, Miles isn’t supposed to be the bad guy. But on Earth-42, there was no spiderman and crime flourished, leading Miles’ Dad’s death. Since he did not have that positive influence, he was influenced by his Uncle and became the Prowler. Also, he was more influenced by his Mother culturally, which is why his accent is more Puerto Rican than his version from Earth-1610 with both parents. Hope this helps!
It also doesn’t even really seem like Miles is a villain. Especially since his uncle said he wasn’t a bad guy. They are probably like anti-heroes, like they steal and shit but save people along the way

I was thinking that as well, but I think he meant the most recent iteration, which would still be Miles since 2099 is I think from the 90s.
I honestly put Across The Spiderverse up there with The Dark Knight and Empire Strikes Back as one of the greatest movie sequels of all time. Which is why there is no reason whatsoever this movie should not have been nominated for best picture at the Oscars.
It just proves how little the academy takes animated movies seriously. There hasn’t been an animated film nominated for best picture since Toy Story 3 almost 15 years ago!
The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.
A lot of people still don’t for some crazy reason.

Well, that's a pretty dumb meta-commentary. Making something like that about a few people seems like a waste.
Miles wasn't supposed to be a villain, he just wasn't supposed to be a Spiderman.
I was just about to point that out myself, especially since there doesn't appear to be a Peter Parker in Earth 42, likely because he's not needed since Miles was supposed to become Spiderman.

Marvel end DC have had a number of crossovers in comics.
I remember reading the Amalgam comics as a kid, that stuff was so fun
As I was watching the movie in the theater I thought Miles rescuing Inspector Singh actually contradicted Miguel's speech about canon events; Inspector Singh would have died from the event caused by The Spot & Miles, but they are from another Universe which means they shouldn't cause a canon event that would effect Pavitr's life as Spider-Man.

I mean the movie was going against Miguel’s idea, and that his thinking is flawed. But it’s probably also that Singh just has to die, doesn’t matter what causes it, but this event has to happen, and it so happened to be at this moment. It probably would have happened no matter what
If Miles hadn't been bit by the spider from Earth 42 he would have become the prowler of his universe. This has already been confirmed by the director. In the first movie when that Earth's Peter and Miles meet, Miles's spider sense colors change from green and purple (original prowler color scheme) to blue and red (original Spiderman color scheme) signifying his destiny shifting in that moment. Also if you look at a cross the sliderverse and the flashback when the spider was taken from Earth 42 you'll see that spider was on its way to bite the miles (with the braids) of that universe.

I was a bit apprehensive when I first saw the trailer for portraying Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 in an antagonistic way because Miguel is a far cry from a villain and he's also my all-time favourite Spider-Man in the comics but the movie did an amazing job for portraying him not as the villain but more like an opposing force. Also just to clarify, he is not part vampire. That was just a joke they made in the movie becuse he has fangs which can secrete paralyzing venom. And for the record, he was created in the early 90s, which is decades before Miles Morales or Spider-Gwen.
The word you’re looking for is antagonist.
@@The_Phantasm The Antagonist is whoever opposes the Protagonist, that being Miles. So by definition, Miguel is an Antagonist, albeit an example of a 'Hero Protagonist'.
He's actively going against Miles, but he's still a hero, simply being an Antagonist doesn't take away from that.
An example of this would be in Death Note, where Light Yagami is a Villain Protagonist, whilst the detective L is a Hero Antagonist.
Miguel's help will DEFINITELY be needed against Spot in Beyond the Spiderverse, maybe even Prowler Miles. Nah it's going to take every spiderman to beat him. How crazy would it be if they could bring in live action to fight him to 😂

Across the Spider-Verse was The Dark Knight of all animated movies.
I was feeling Empire Strikes Back or Back to the Future Part 2
Both comic publishers, Marvel & DC, have crossed over in the comics with each other, as well as other smaller publishers before. But, only in the comics.
Some interesting combinations happened. Including, Batman/Wolverine vs Joker/Sabertooth.
Miles can't be an anomaly and be subject to the canon. Can't have it both ways

Just one thing. None of the worlds are alternate timelines. They're completely separate universes. So even if alternate Miles might've been supposed to be a villain, our Miles might've been destined to be something else entirely. We only know he wasn't supposed to be Spider-Man (or was he actually?). It's also important to know that Miguel isn't some expert - he had one major bad experience and it has colored everything he's done since.
To be fair, all universes (while separate) are alternate timelines. Even if the timeline spurred off at the start of reality leading to a cartoon reality.
Marvel Comics and DC Comics have done special feature editions where characters interact with each other many times.

For whatever it's worth, DC and Marvel did do a run of comics together in the 90s called Amalgam. Where they mashed their heroes together (ex. Wolverine + Batman = Darkclaw) and it took place in an alternate universe. It wasn't very long running, but there were some really cool mash-ups and it was pretty nice to see DC and Marvel working together on something like that without a ton of ego. Probably will never happen now; too much money involved for them to do that with their multi-billion dollar movie properties.

I knew Miles was in the wrong universe because at his Dad's party Rio had brown eyes, and they made it a point to show that she had blue eyes in Earth 42...

Uh, actually they did do some DC/Marvel comic crossovers back in the 80's I think. The most infamous of which was the Superman vs. Spider-Man comic.
Marvel and DC had crossovers together only in the comics. Those franchises also had crossovers with other ones like Transformers and TMNT. It would definitely be cool to see those things happen (I know one did).

I saw this at theaters with my best friend last year. It was a fun experience.
Ironically, the while Canon event and Spiderverse collapsing, reminds me of a smaller publisher storyline, Valiant comics, and their Unity event.
Miguel's concept reminds me of the Valiant villain to one of the main Valiant heroes, Solar. Obviously, its different, and embraces the Marvel storylines. But, that villian was obsessed w/ sectiona of time/parralell universes collapsing from other characters. Namely the hero Solar, trying to realign timelines and universes to get his way. And it was the vullain that pointed out that the heroes actions were decimating alternate universes and timelines.

This is the most underwhelming reaction to an awesome movie I’ve ever seen. It felt like neither of them had seen the first movie and therefore didn’t really get anything they were watching.

i agree with Miguel on this one, i understand where miles is coming from wanting to save his dad, but that's the reason why Miguel showed us the alternate Miguel's dimension and why it collapsed. When he tried to replace he's deceased daughter with the alternate deceased version of himself daughter who was still alive. where he's trying to replace her, that whole world caved in on it's self because our Miguel didn't belong there. it's that whole StarTrack quote "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" even though Gwen saved her dad because he quit he's job and stopped being caption, i believe she still has to face the cannon event with someone else being caption. and i think the reason they showed us Gwen's dad quitting is showing us that there's a way out for Miles's dad but i believe miles still has to face he's cannon event with someone else as caption.

Actually, in terms of comics, they have mixed DC and Marvel together. Both literally, there's a universe with them mixed together and they have met. In terms of movies and shows, I don't believe they have but I could be wrong about that.

Miguel is from Earth-whatever in the future . And he’s from the same universe as an another Spider-Man but they died or something. Thats in the comics. But I do believe it’s the same thing for this version. He’s probably keeping it a secret. Cause he shouldn’t be running the spiderverse. His story isn’t even the same as everybody else’s. So it’s bs to say miles doesn’t deserve to be Spider-Man. They really don’t need to all have the same stories. Cause some of them are different. Like Ben (blue sleeveless hoodie Spider-Man) he’s a clone . And Miles isn’t a villain at all. Miguel is full of --. If what he said was right, all of the universes would’ve been collapsed because of him being Spider-Man. I truly The spider was supposed to bite one of those miles. And since it did, it cancelled out the collapse. Miguel isn’t keeping the universes from collapsing. They’ll only collapse if certain spider people or villains shouldn’t be in another universe and/or another spider person intervenes or aid in another spider person’s situation. Thats the only thing Miguel is right about. Earth 42 miles was supposed to be Spider-Man. Listen to what his mom said. There is no such thing as Spider-Man in that universe. Meaning, if it would’ve stayed there, it would’ve bit him. Their lives are reversed. 1610 miles was probably supposed to be a villain fighting Spider-Man instead of taking over for him.
I asking me if Miguel could be maybe an alternative version of Morbius becoming Spiderman. He has fangs he took shots of something giving maybe the spiderman power. Because at a moment we was more a Vampire than a Spiderman.
The Amalgam universe is one where DC and Marvel collide and it's confirmed to be coming back

well, 1: being fluent* in a language doesn’t guarantee you knowing everything perfectly (as we can see from miles speaking spanglish; “eso no es my fault”), and 2: im p sure that in university applications, you have to write an essay in which you describe why you wanna go to uni and all that stuff, but universities ususally find it “boring” when a person is just passionate about education or something, thus the lady in the scene tries to make miles out to be a struggling immigrant because it makes for a good story. also, it could be a racism moment- she assumes miles’ family is struggling just because he’s black.

LOL to be fair, the movie tells you pretty much nothing about him, so casual viewers wouldn't easily know that 2099 refers to the year he's from. Some people might think it's a code or something.
