The healthcare system in Haiti is on the brink of collapse as brutal gangs tighten their grip on the capital city of Port-au-Prince and beyond. The rising violence has forced the closure of several medical institutions and hospitals across the country. Even if a hospital is operating, sometimes medical staff is absent because doctors are forced to turn around if they encounter armed gang members.
