    "Make a polite sentence" is a command and here's some homework, makes people feel obliged to do it. "If you wish..." or "If you like..." are good ways to start.

    Asking your child if they can wash the dishes is ambiguous. Parents do give their children orders, or at least they used to.

    • @nono-m7y
      @nono-m7y 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm Chinese and born in traditional family, but my parents do not give orders for us until we are not obeyed to them. And our culture, I can say to young sister/bro " Hey (or someone name), help me to (Oh yes, we are always said "help me" to do some, it just seems like
      Auxiliary word) true on the light." It is POLITELY but your young may be hate you. But my young sister/brother should be say politely like : My firstborn/second born older sister (est...) (大家姐 / 二家姐 young sister we call them 妹 not 姐 ), could you please help me to true on the light, and they will not call my name directly it is IMPOLITELY.

      Good especially to us African we make our kids to understand that we are supposed to tell them what to do.so as a parent to instruct your to wash dishes is just an instruction from a mother to a child and that child should be happy to do the work but if is a grown up then we can use other polite alternative. Thanks

    You are so polite, i really appreciate the way you teach. I learned a lot from your videos. Would you mind uploading more videos and teach us how to speak english just like you. By the way Canadians are soft spoken, I agree. Thanks.

    Thank you so much. I think this is the most important video in communication. Even though the expressions are very important, I think the body language and intonation (the voice) express the politeness too.

      You're right! 😃😃Body language and tone of voice are the most important!
