I went to Tahiti in April of 1987. 1 week Moorea & 1 week Bora Bora all inclusive club med which no longer exists got destroyed by cyclone. Went diving, snorkling, boat tours, private islands lunches, Incredible food for breakfast,Lunches & sunset luxery dinners. Entertainment at night, crab races. All on Bora Bora & of course drinking their local beer at the time Hinano's. The guy who caught the crabs liked me so he told me what crabs to bet on & I won tons of bar beads which was who we paid for our alchohol drinks. It was magical & much more remote back then. Also woke up one morning on Bora Bora with thatched hut right on edge of water & saw at least a pod of 30-50 dolphins 20 feet from the hut. I always thought I would go back & to this day wish I would have gotten to. I am old & not the best of health now but will never forget that 2 weeks of Paridise.

Air France has daily flights from/to Paris CDG/Tahiti with technical/transit stop in Los Angeles, where you have to leave plane. You have to go through US immigration, even if you are only in transit to Tahiti (so Esta is needed). Other possibility is French bee from/to Paris Orly via San Francisco (same procedure as Los Angeles). And arriving at Tahiti airport Europeans can use fast residents/EU line. Overall it's a long way to get to our beloved South Pacific, but worth it. Before moving from Europe, we have been travelling here for several long stays and got in deep love with this wonderful part of the world.

      Ia ora na (hello)
Scuba is better on Mo'orea - either in lagoons within reef or in deep water out of reef. Especially during whale watching season (August to October out of the reef) Mo'orea is the better place for scuba.
But the best place overall is Fakarava, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Fakarava is famous for the blue wall of sharks and it is one of the best places for scuba all over the world. There are domestic flights to Fakarava either from Tahiti or Mo'orea.

    1. Internet. What about the net connection on Tahiti/Moorea and the little islands? Was it fine, fast, cheap or expensive? (Are there any companies for all the French Polynesia with phone and net packages?)
    2. What do you think about to live there? What are your opinions and advices?

Incredible video, are you two full time YTer's? Really appreciate this! Thinking of taking the wife here, the original plan was to go to the St. Regis for 6 nights, but your video makes me think we should try 2 different places. Is this what you would recommend? The $$ is crazy 6 nights is like 6k USD and 650-700k convoy points!

What it is you best recommendation for choosing the luggage? What kind do you think is better? I saw the black extendable backpackage of your husband, but I guess he had another one. I will take my camera Sony Rx with the dive housing, drone, gopro and also my fins and mask besides all clothes. So it is impossible for me bring just one piece of luggage because i need to bring with me the cameras in the cabin.
I will be travelling for 15 days in Tahiti, Moorea, Rangirona, Fakarava, and Tikehau. I can survive with just few piece of clothing.
I am travel for diving, surfing and trekking.

      Ia ora na (hello)
You don't need to stay in an international luxury hotel resort (truly expensive). You find also cheaper options from local hotel resorts, local family pensions and bungalows with self-catering.
French bee offers flights from San Francisco to Tahiti for a reasonable price.
From Tahiti port to Mo'orea you can use ferry - roundtrip around 24$ to 30$ (depends on which ferry you take, there are 3 ferry lines).
Within islands you can check prices online with air moana or air tahiti. You can also use express ferry (more authentical way of travelling within the islands) to other islands in long distance.
You can fly to different islands also from Mo'orea.
Overall you should consider a min budget (couple) of 7,000$ - 9,000$ for 7 to 10 days, depends on your flight costs, plans what to explore, your activities and where you stay. If you would like to stay in luxury, higher budget is needed. For example, one night (only breakfast) in cheaper room/bungalow in a luxury hotel resort starts from 500$ up to 1,200$ and higher in overwater bungalow. Btw Bora Bora is the most expensive island.
      Hope, this helps. Greetings from Mo'orea (where I live) 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷 🇪🇺 🤙

French Polynesia is very French. The French-ness is everywhere in the culture, and it’s not going away. No one can change history; only accept it as it is and get on with life.

But that’s how it’s known everywhere in the world. It’s just a way of calling and I don’t think people associate it to France at all, don’t worry… but sorry if it’s offensive, it’s the name around the world! And it’s desirable more than anything. That’s amazing enough.
