    I tried pastelmat and I am so in love. It's so different from any other paper I ever used. It can even take watercolor washes, and using colored pencils and pastels on this beautiful surface is just bliss. It feels so smooth and yet it can take so much color and so many layers. I fell in love with it right away. Luckily here in Germany the regular 50x70cm sheets cost around 6€ and a whole pad costs around 20€ for 12 sheets à 24x30cm, still expensive but definitely worth it! There's also pastelmat with really thick cardboard for around 10€ per 50x70cm sheet but I'll stick to the regular paper.

      Hi Madeleine! I am glad to hear that you love it too😁 It really can take a lot of layers and supports a lot of different media! What's not to love, right?!😋 Here in Belgium, the cost is similar to Germany, so yes it's not cheap,, but definitely worth the price you pay👌 Anyway, happy drawing/painting/creating!!

    I just found out about you yesterday and I am really enjoying your tutorials and your help with pencils and paper etc. I have been doing art for many years and I’ve just ventured into pastels. I cannot use soft pastels because of the dust and pastelmat paper is very hard to get here. I am about to try sanded uart paper. Have you ever tried it? I am using semi hard and pencils. I made my own surface using canvas boards and Golden pastel ground. Anyway thank you so much for your helpful tutorials. Keep them coming. Cheers

      Hey Cat! I'm really glad I can be of help to you!☺ I have actually never tried Uart paper, as this isn't one that comes in stores in Belgium.. But planning on ordering some online to make a sequel on this video👌I can totally understand that the dust is annoying, that's why I always recommend pastelmat too, it keeps a lot of the dust away somehow. Sad to hear that it's so hard to get where you're from.. Be sure to let me know how you feel about the Uart paper 😉
      Xo Tina

    Hi Tina! I'm a super big fan of your work. I make astronomy drawings and because of that I use dark toned papers. Have you used black Mi Teintes already? If so, do you recomend them? I use colored pencil and sometimes pastels (oil and dry).

      Hi! That's great to hear, thank you so much☺🙏 I have not, I've only used the colour in the video, but I guess it has the same texture and everything, just a different colour😁 I can't recommend this paper for the realism I want to achieve with all of the little details, but I guess if your drawings are a little less detailed, there should be no problem!😁👌

    Very nice and so useful video thank you so much...I love your work...It's amazing...I want to get material but I am confused about..So I request you to tell me highly recommend material that is ...Paper,eraser,blending tools and fixative please....I hope to help me🙏

    • @TinaBaeyensArt
      @TinaBaeyensArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, glad it was helpful!😊 as for paper, I only use pastelmat by ClaireFontaine (because I work in pastel, although a lot of people use this paper for coloured pencils as well). I never use an eraser since you can correct any mistakes easily with pastels👌 As for the blending tools, I use a blending stump and "sofft tools" by panpastel. Fixative is another thing I don't use as it tends to darken the pastel drawings😉

    Just tried mi tientes touch today and sad how many pastel is being wasted. It keeps on falling even in first layer. The hardware sandpaper and plain canson seems even better. Pastelmat is the best even if its super expensive. Atleast money and time is not wasted.

    So sad, that EVERY pastel artist works on pastelmat, or just saying that is the best or the "go" option, where i am from (latinoamerica) is just IMPOSIBLE to get this paper locally, or even imported from USA, the paper will come folded, wrinkled, or just ruinned, and 150% more expensive cuz the import cost and local taxes

      That's why it's really important to try different types out for yourself. It's very personal and depending on your style or wanted outcome. I can only tell you what works for me and what I like, but that ofcourse doesn't mean you're going to feel the same way.

    Thanks for the video! Here in Brazil, Mi-teintes = BRL R$ 10 a single sheet (50 x 75cm); Pastelmat = BRL R$ 31 per sheet (they don't sell it individually, only blocks with 12 sheets and maximum size 30x40cm); Velour = BRL R$ 20 per sheet (they don't sell single sheets either, only block with 10 sheets 30x40cm). Unfortunately, Pastelmat and Velour are very expensive here. 🥲

      Sorry to hear that the prices are so high in Brazil!😮 Hope that might change in the future so it becomes more accessible for everyone🧡 The mi-teintes aren't bad though,, just not as good as the pastelmat unfortunately.. or at least not in my opinion..
