    My father has cerebral palsy He did not walk until he was in hs. Before he crawled up the stairs to HS he had a coach who took an interest in him. By the end of HS he was RUNNING AN 8 MINUTE MILE yes i said running. My dad graduated HS and studied Microbiology in college He taught graduate students at the Hospital lab he worked at. My dad always showed us kids we could be anything we wanted to be. He git married to my mother they were sealed in the Manti temple just before my older brother was born. He is my hero!
    There was no OT, PT OR SPEECH therapy just my grandmother who told the doctors he was not going to an institution! She took him home and worked with him herself.
    Your little Thomas has made great progress. Keep being positive make him walk because he can! Make him talk He has a brain that is ready to be taught.
    Dont allow anyone to tell you that Thomas is nor worth your effort or his effort to do things by himself always challenge him!

    Thank you so much for sharing your family story! I tell my adult children all that time to trust their instincts when it comes to their health and the health of their children. My daughter has a 6 year old daughter. This little sweetie had an episode at school where she spiked a fever and her lips turned blue. They called my daughter and she picked her up and took her to the ER. She called my husband who is a Medic/RN on her way to the ER. It turned out that the child had a viral illness that presented with these strange symptoms. My daughter kind of felt silly after the doctor told her that she would be okay. I told her that I am proud of her for never taking chances with her health or my granddaughter's health.

    My friend’s daughter developed severe CP after her birth. While she was premature, there was medical negligence at the heart of it all. It was her first child and she too didn’t feel confident with the medical care they both received. It took close to a decade, but they won a multimillion dollar suit against the physicians. Her daughter just turned 14. These types of inadequacies should not be occurring, especially when patients attempt to advocate for themselves and their children.
    Prayers for you and your beautiful family! 💖

    as a health professional working in maternity, I can understand absolutely how for parents it can seem Drs / staff aren't doing anything, and that the baby's heart rate is dropping and how terrifying it is for parents..... research shows though, that the majority of brain injuries like this aren't caused by oxygen deprivation. no matter how skilled drs are, unfortunately there will always complications :( . both boys are utterly gorgeous

      There were several red flags that we chose not to talk about in the video. One of them I was bleeding when my water broke. I bled for 34 hours before the doctor decided to do the delivery. I was in the hospital for this whole time and they did not do anything. I understand that there are cases where the medical team does their best and yet there are things beyond their control that they cannot help with. That was not my case.

    God bless those boys. I have 4 children, my second was a special needs child. That second born son, who was diagnosed with Autism was all around developmentally delayed. He still had not acquired any language skills by age of 6. I prayed hard for my little family. Although he was very delayed, we could see that he was gathering new skills, it was just taking him longer. Fast forward 30 years and that child is our family’s rock. He is so solid. Not only is he super intelligent but he has a professional grade A level sense of humor that has put me at risk of traffic accident or accident in my underwear. Our whole family feels the same…that it can be dangerous driving with their brother while he shares some jokes. You start laughing so hard that you can’t breathe. You are flat out crying, begging for him to abandon the joke. The punchline hasn’t even arrived but you can tell where the joke is going. He now has his own place to live and has a good job and a huge heart to helps me, his father and/or his siblings out financially. I am grateful to God for bringing him to us. He makes this world a better place.

    I too got pregnant (after only 3mths) with a IUD (I had one of the copper plated kind which is said to be even more effective). My IUD was still in the correct position. The reaction of medical people at first were "you cant be pregnant as you have an IUD. My baby was born disabled with very rare physical birth defects which would have occurred when the IUD was still in (she also has Autism). Sorry to see what happened to your child

    I am so sorry that you had such a horrible experience and that your son paid for the incompetence of your medical care. It’s really astonishing that this happened the way it did at this day and time. I can’t lie, it makes me very angry. But clearly anger is not what you or your family needs. You and your husband are amazing parents and your children are gorgeous and perfect. I have twins myself that are 21 years old and I knew more then 21 years ago that you were made aware of and that is why I am touched by your experience. But regardless of the circumstances, twins are always a miracle. In your case, you got pregnant with twins despite having a iud and my twins were a miracle because they were born on the same day, one year apart from their twin cousins lol. When you see our four born on the same day you would automatically assume that they were two sets of siblings made up of a brother and sister in each set because my girls look very different and their cousins (both boys)look very different. They came after our family lost Zane at the age of only two years old after a long battle with cancer and we all feel strongly that he sent us these twins in the month that he passed away to bring us some love during a time that we will always grieve deeply. Look for those miracles and you will find them.

    If my daughter hadnt trusted her instincts her week old baby would have died of Group B Streptococcus infection. She took her to A&E because she saw a feint rash when bathing her.
    4 weeks later, her then 3 year old was sent home from nursery with stomach pain. After a restless night, she took her to a doctor. He diagnosed tonsillitis! 10 hrs later she was in hospital with burst appendix seriously poorly.

    IUDs do not prevent pregnancies, my OBGYN explained this to me after i realized i had passed a foetus. She said it does not prevent conception it prevents foetus from attaching or growing if it does attach. When i heard this i demanded to have it removed. It had caused weeks of heavy bleeding every month.

    • @RainbowPi3141
      @RainbowPi3141 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      IUDs prevent conception. There are two different kind of IUDs, hormonal and copper. With hormonal IUDs you release more progesteron, which thickens your cervical mucus and prevents sperm from reaching the fallopian tubes. The copper ones release Ions which are toxic to sperm. Still, when a pregnancy occurs while wearing an IUD, the risk of a miscarriage is higher than normal. Thats why the IUD should be removed as soon as you know you're pregnant. And yes, there are cases where the IUD prevents an implementation. But that's not the primary mode of action and very rare.
      By the way, it's not a fetus when talking about a blastocyst in the first days after fertilization.

    • @Gigi-Vivi
      @Gigi-Vivi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would consider getting a new OBGYN immediately because that's 100% false. I don't believe an OBGYN physician told you IUDs don't prevent pregnancy that's just silly. You either completely misunderstood what they told you or you have an agenda as to why you're trying to pass this false information to people. Source: My father was an OB-GYN before he passed, I'm a woman who did my own research when I decided it was time for birth control. Everything I'm saying is backed up 100% by various sources all over the Internet.
      IUD's PREVENT pregnancy two ways.
      With the Paragard copper IUD your body believes the IUD is a foreign invader and causes inflammation, your uterine lining becomes inflamed and it creates a toxic environment for sperm. If the sperm can't fertilize the egg guess what no pregnancy, the IUD prevented that pregnancy from occuring. If the sperm did make it through and fertilize the egg your inflamed uterine lining would make it almost impossible for the egg to implant.
      IUDs such as Mirena are hormonal and they release small amounts of the progestin hormone levonorgestrel over time. Levonorgestrel thickens your cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to swim to your fallopian tubes. It also thins your uterus lining and partially suppresses your ability to release an egg during your menstrual cycle.

    • @ericfuller9602
      @ericfuller9602  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @Annie497 In general the country is way to “sue-happy,” I agree with you there. In this case and so many others though, the medical malpractice was inexcusable. This is life and death, or life and permanent brain damage. The doctors ignored cleared warning signs and then failed to act quickly when there were striking signs of distress. In many cases these same doctors have made these mistakes multiple times, and it causes permanent mental and physical disability to the child and alters the entire supporting family’s dynamic and capability to live the life they planned. It is an unspeakably massive burden on the family and the healthcare system. Unless you’re immersed in the world of severe cerebral palsy you probably don’t know just how expensive it is and how many therapists and specialists need to be involved for their entire life. So in this case yes mistakes can happen, but doctors that make major mistakes that are clearly wrong should not keep practicing. If a taxi driver severely injured someone, effectively wrecking their life, because they were texting and driving, that’s not just a mistake to brush off. They shouldn’t be allowed to drive that taxi anymore. There needs to be severe consequences. Otherwise we’re permitting and enabling that behavior.
