Great video many thanks! Just downloaded both sd and hd libraries and until listening to your direct comparison I found it hard to tell the difference when playing the keyboard myself, but I can hear the clarity improvement with hd and as you said there is an 'airy' feel to the high notes. The overall sound is much warmer with HD too.
Great video and I appreciate the effort put forward. I'd recommend muting the microphone during playback next time though as the ambient noise is kind of in the way of hearing the raw sound.
well...Got some info! The main difference is that HD sample library is lossless (FLAC), while the SD sample library is lossy (OGG). It is all recorded at 96 kHz.
I assumed it would just load less velocity layers, but there's something else going on here. Maybe they compressed the samples and that took away the detail? I don't know.
Hey awesome video thanks. Do you notice the HD version eats up a significant amount more of CPU? I am deciding weather to install HD or SD for my whole Waves GOLD bundle but don't want HD if its going to eat up to much of my iMac CPU.
oh yea, HD is better. SD sounds like cheap vst or recorded with cheap mic or compressed audio sample. like 480p vs 1080p. the clarity resolution of the sound is pretty obvious. on mixing session that HD will benefit more. after some EQ, saturation and a touch of compression + mid side & fx processing, with the same treatment, HD will shine even brighter.but it doesn't mean SD is not usable. if the piano is not one of the most important thing in the mix, SD can have its spot there. but for solo piano or piano vocal ballad, HD is the way to go. thanks for this video man. gbu
Also its really hard to tell because it sounds like you're using a microphone instead of routing the output of the daw to the input of your video recorder. If you could re upload the video try bussing the daws output to the input of your video recorder .. again great piano melody!!
Yeah i enjoy breathing i do it regularly. Jokes aside if i remember the audio was accidently recorded together so i couldn't gate or edit it. I dunno why it was over 2 years ago.
Hey, This helped out a lot. HD sounds a slight cleaner to me in the high registers. Maybe I'm just imagining it. Thank you for doing this.
+Giorgio David thanks for watching and taking a moment to comment dude 👍

Very beautiful, I almost cried!

Thats fair enough, at the time i wasn't able to.
Great Video, I was looking for a video explaining this and finally found it. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for Nice comparison video!!

good video tho
saludos de chile
because 7 years ago i didn't know half of what i know now about Final Cut 🤷♂
It seems to me the overall character of the HD is slightly darker... but maybe I'm crazy
6:45 sounds like you might have added some of your own 'bottom end'...
i've been battling this chair and its creaks for 5 years apparently. Now days the gate catches like 99.9% lol
@@Unders Haha, I know the feeling. Great video by the way, appreciated.

24bit 96kHz for HD 16bit 44.1 for HD

Nah it doesn’t touch the CPU. it dose however hammer the ram. I’ve not kept the HD on. I still love the sound on the SD 👍

Backing piano SD mainline HD
SD can also be good for writing ideas as it loads faster and uses less resources
merci
vous etes les bienvenus
i think :)
Thanks great info!
Totally welcome

the DAW is bussed into the video recorder.
Then why can I hear you clicking? Some mic is on, and that's tainting the comparison in any case.
hd all the way. Thanks!
+JulianFernandez you're more than welcome 14.7GB is crazy to load up though
The music is phenomenal..
thanks for taking the time to watch and comment
This piano sound is not so bad.
but ,a lot of white noise
