- Maintenance of a Movado 18k gold watch. The watch is equipped with an in-house movement calibre 125.

That's a beautiful piece. It would have been nice to see you drill out the barrel bridge and install a jewel there. I think that watch is worth it.

I usually replace the mainspring in every service to reduce the number of possible issues.

The screw from the mainspring arbor looks that in the past was in the service more than once. And you are right about the case that where opened not properly sometimes.
For sure… the watch has a lot of services in past some of them wasn’t appropriate.
Gold is soft material. Working with steel watch opener needs a lot of care.

I'm wondering, what causes the beat error so high if the watch is normally worn and serviced, and doesn't have adjustment lever for beat error...? 🤔🤔
Can it just simply because the movement needs cleaning...? Or there is other cause...?
Maybe it was never corrected properly while maintaining. It is not so easy to correct. You have to disassemble the balance completely, correct it and remount it again. Test and repeat. It’s very time consuming procedure.

Is that simply that the movement doesn't adjusted from the factory, or the beat error (impulse jewel) can be altered itself following the movement of the movement...? (because of the banking action of the impulse jewel, or other cause...?)

I can’t say exactly. I assume it’s cause by changing the hairspring without adjusting or the watch has a lot of impacts during the past years. Golf playing, clapping, etc.
