dam I have to say that was very creative. I do have one that doesn't have a key I'm gonna give this a shot I think I think I'll wait for your next video before I do thou. This was an awesome video. Thank you for sharing I've learned a lot my friend.
NIce work man. Making things you don't have or can't find is something I love about this hobby (and a few others I have). I made Jeff Moss a solid brass shackle for an old vintage Yale 850 padlock. Awesome stuff brother. Thanks for sharing!
This video needs more views and likes. awesome video Chris. You know how much I like having keys for all my locks. I am going to give this a go when I get the chance. I also found some incredible deals today on eBay for precut keys with included duication cards. I am thinking about getting a few Medeco mortise rims which are uncombinated. I may even be a jerk and make my own pins for those locks too. They will surely be unlockable by me which is why I will give them to other people.
That's pretty good, seems like a pain in the rear! !! I'll just have you make them for me....lol. Just kidding that's pretty creative and informative, appreciate you sharing and looking forward to the rest of the series.
Np nice you watch new people i come across and get good solid tips for my long journey ahead im just delving into medecos now. i just have one of the little telephone locks 4 pin im learning on :)
Great work bud! I really appreciate your willingness to help. I would like to see you make one from a blank. I have blanks for medecos and I need your help. Thank you bud! Keep on picking!
Hi. I have a S&G 826C lock but yes no key. If I ever get it picked I would like to try and make a key for it. Would this idea work on that core or is there a chance to swap the core with something else?
Do you have the tutorial video on this? Like can you show step by step on a high security medeco? I’m having trouble figuring out what way the angles go on the key because I don’t know wich way the pins supposed to turn in it’s hole.
I am also going to shave down some warding on a Kwikset key blank to fit into a Lockwood I have. It is funny that the Kwikset cylinders fit Lockwood keys just fine but just a slight difference in the warding shape prevents Lockwood from using stock KW1 or KW10 keys.
Chris Ahrens LHG If it seems to sketchy to me, I have brass flat sheet and bar stock to make my own blanks from scratch. I got a metal cutting wheel finally that can do the job. Not a cutoff wheel either, but high grade tool steel coated in abrasive carbide, so it won't shrink while cutting away at metal like typical cutoff wheels.
Amazing to see a hand made medeco key, and restricted key blank work around. Time to transfer those lines to top of the vise. Have a big box of Scandinavian oval Bilevels pinned alike without key from a replacement job. Put aside for parts source, but maybe worth looking at from a new angle.
Rune International thanks for watching. and a great idea putting the lines on the vise I'll defiantly do that be a lot easier. I'll try to do that before my next video. thank you.
Michael Sprute I've never tried a primus. but as a guess if you have a blank the pin stack cuts would be normal. the sidebar I guess you would have to use a dremel to make your cuts very very slowly maybe a drill with a dremel cutting but. if you was wanting to do it from another key besides a primus blank I don't think it would bee possible I think the key would be too thin. but you might could get a peice of brass bar stock if your wanting to make a key by hand.
Brian Grant thank you. ..I have never tried I'm not sure what kind of warding changes would have to be made. I would like to try to just get some brass bar stock about the right thickness and make a key from scratch. you might could try that
yeah that could be a good idea. I was thinking about maybe buying like off ebay some best cores/locks and was trying to figure out what I could do if they came without keys,,
Brian Grant I'm sure it would be possible. I think the biggest problem with a best would be the gutting there a pain to gut. sliding the key in and out of the plug with the master wafers would get on my nerves lol unless you got the right tools.
It's easier to do if you fill the old bitting in with silver solder and file it back to a blank, then put your key blank back in the lock, take one pin at a time and put it in its place in the cylinder and hold the side bar in place while you rap the pin with a plastic handle screwdriver, it will mark the spot and the angle of the cut, repeat until all pins are done, now just file to the shearline, depth all pins and tada, you have your medeco, key. !!!

Ith Bombgard It's never ending always something to try even if it's been done before there's always different ways
Absolutely. :)

love your precision Chris ... not so easy to made, good work
Den Brass thank you. surprisingly That's the smoothest key I've ever made. I can't even make normal keys that smooth. think I had some luck there
you have made time on this ... and try one little sandpaper 400 on finale ;) shinnnny
Awesome! Smart and crafty and creative. ;) Makes me want to do it and then send it as a challenge lock. XD
DarkWoodPicks thank you. I say do it. I know you can
Chris Ahrens LHG I have a medico that doesn't have a key. just remembered. I'll have to get a blank key and try this out. Thanks. :)
DarkWoodPicks let me know when you get it done I'd like to see it
Chris Ahrens LHG Of course! :)
That's pretty good, seems like a pain in the rear! !! I'll just have you make them for me....lol. Just kidding that's pretty creative and informative, appreciate you sharing and looking forward to the rest of the series.
Sidewinder thank you yes it was kind of a pain. It's easier to send it to Jeff moss lol
Sidewinder I'll help you out if you need me to
appreciate it, so far I'm good but maybe sometime I might call on you and pick your brain !!! Thanks for the offer though
Cheers always useful to get tips on cutting these keys
Pin Pickers thank you

Hey brother can you make a key out of a medeco padlock if I lost the padlock?

Matthew Wilson I enjoy saving keys down to fit as well. be careful I did one for the community lock 2.0 and it broke on trekmaster

verry cool dude, great work!
Rookie Lock thank you
Really interesting video, thanks 👍
daz evers Thank you
Brilliant
Nice man 👍
. Last night when i went to bet i thought you should make a video bout making that key.. Lol 🔑
thanks. I got a request to make one from blank so there will be a whole series coming up soon
Nice. Sounds good bro! That will be cool👍

Rune International hope you get keys done let me know how it works for you
Rune International I have pinned a car key, a shear pin and a credit card to fit medeco, locks !
Nice work. Where there is a will there is almost certainly a way. :)
Noctis Motus don't know if it's the best way but my will was strong
Chris Ahrens LHG I'm certain it was the best way with what you had...this definitely opened a lot of possibilities for me. Thank you!
Sean Stevenson thanks glad you like it hope it works for you
How would you go about doing the same thing but for Primus keys?
Michael Sprute I've never tried a primus. but as a guess if you have a blank the pin stack cuts would be normal. the sidebar I guess you would have to use a dremel to make your cuts very very slowly maybe a drill with a dremel cutting but. if you was wanting to do it from another key besides a primus blank I don't think it would bee possible I think the key would be too thin. but you might could get a peice of brass bar stock if your wanting to make a key by hand.
wow that is really cool. I didn't even think that was possible.... is it possible to make like a Best key from like a kwikset or similar key?
Brian Grant thank you. ..I have never tried I'm not sure what kind of warding changes would have to be made. I would like to try to just get some brass bar stock about the right thickness and make a key from scratch. you might could try that

paul solfelt great idea I may have to try that
another weird note. The Weiser WR5 key will fit a KW1 Kwikset keyway. and a KW1 Kwikset key will fit into a Weiser Keyway.
Brian Grant ok thanks for the tip
Brian Grant that's funny, my kw-1 blank will fit a Weiser cylinder but the Weiser key will not fit a kw cylinder!
genius!!
Jeff Moss Lol I wouldn't say that. I say a lazy man will find a way
I need 6 copies 😫 😩 😪
Can I send you my Medico lock and pay you to make a Key for me
